Disabled Books

This book was incredible!!! It's been so long since any war book has captured the essence of battle so vividly and with such detail and accountability. This isa book everyone needs to read if there is ever a hope of any long lasting peaceworldwide.

I strongly recommend this book to other parents of children labeled hyperactive, ADD, or disruptive. Too often parents listen to "experts" rather than follow their own instincts concerning the welfare of their children. This is a book of hope and success and is well worth the time and money investment.

This is a great book for parents and professionals alike. Chapters are includedspecifically for parents and for teachers. Other chapters present fun activitiesto do with preschool-age blind children. Resources are listed at the end of each chapter. The book is written in both English and Spanish.

As a psychotherapist and registered nurse who has an 88 year old mother, I found this book to be both fascinating and helpful. The vignettes were poignant and the suggestions for self-care for the caregiver were excellent and manageable. I particularly liked the writing style which was engaging and interesting to read. I could identify with many of the caregivers. I would highly recommend this book both to my own clients or friends who have elderly parents and to other people who have care giving responsibilities for older parents or disabled siblings, spouses, children or friends.

This book, or should I say this manual, is really important and helpful. I am a Ph.D student and I know exactly what it does mean to have a manual like this in schools. The manual gives you a chance to evaluate your students with special needs. Additionally, the manual follows the new trends in assessment and evaluation process through linking the assessment results with educational or intervention purposes. By using the Assessment Log and the Developmental Progress Chart, you, as a teacher, can link the ongoing assessment information with the IEP information for your students.
This manual will help you understand the developmental level and deviance for your students, as well as how to plan for age appropriate and functional interventions.

The book is very helpful to me. They speak so nice about 'special child' who actually is a child who needs 'special care' and 'special understanding'. It is the adults (parents and caretakers) who must change their attitudes towards their kids. It also explains many specific features you may find in your kids and sees deeply into their whole human beings. It also recommends alternative ways to take good and special care for those in need.

Roger Pierangelo and George Giuliani's CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR STUDENTS WITH ADHD provides special education professionals with an excellent concrete set of guidelines for working with ADHD students. From medical and legal requirements in defining and handling ADHD to specific instructional strategies, this is a winner.

I am an educational therapist who works one-on-one with students who have learning disabilities. I have been using this book for over five years as a guide to mediated learning and when helping my students learn labels for cognitive functions. Greenberg's model of cogntive enrichment is based on Feuerstein's theory of mediated learning and is the most practical model that I have seen. My students love learning the labels included in the Building Blocks of Thinking and Tools of Learning. It helps them to apply thinking skills and/or the affective/motivational principles that they need to be effective in any learning experience. These labels transfer easily from a formal instructional setting to home, church, and/or recreational settings. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of children.

With the outrageous increase in the number of children being labeled as "learning disabled" in public schools, this book is a must read for any teacher that truly cares about children learning more than "being creative." Preventing reading difficulties from the beginning is key to getting this country reading again.

One cannot be fully informed about reading disorders without it. A monumental contribution." My own review is this: "Here is a doctor of medicine and psychiatry (not a teacher) who found an exemplary method of instruction which enabled her, on her own, to teach one thousand of her disturbed and disabled psychiatric student-patients from the New York City school system to read. What other proof should we need that this lady has some remarkable things to tell us? This is why our non-profit literacy agency, with some help from the small foundation Dr. Mosse left, decided to publish these two volumes in affordable paperback to make them available to all who can and should make use of them." Dr. Mosse passed away one day before the original two volumes came off the Human Sciences Press, and so was not able to help in its promotional work.
