URBAN SUICIDE is a forbidden, tell all indoctrination of the state of Black America that will stir powerful dialogue and debate
over the number one enemy of today's Black Man...HIMSELF! Not since George Orwell's 1984, has one sided propaganda impacted
on the ideals of society and predicted the self-induced genocide of an entire culture within urban communities. To read Melvin
BlackMan's testimony is like staring into the barrel of a loaded pistol, but only YOU can resist to pull the trigger and not
let drugs, fame and fortune commit Urban Suicide on your brother, least you may destroy yourself on the day you have to stand
alone without your brother. Melvin BlackMan is one of the most POWERFUL writers of our time who revolutionizes the battle
against URBAN SUICIDE with EXPLOSIVE! REAL & NECESSARY dialogue about a modern day cultural epidemic that has never been expressed
this powerfully and poignantly until now. It will cause you to look at your brother, husband, grandfather and son as if seeing
them for the last time on this earth. One million black men will undoubtedly read the book as it travels upon the land like
a plague that must be rid of, but instead captured and sealed in time with the hopes of saving the last Black Man standing.
It's a war out there and only a book can slow down the most virulent mind. Read or DIE. It's your choice...BLACK MAN. Note:

History, holocaust and family secrets. This is a very moving story of one woman's search for an unknown family history. This
'page-turning' book is emotionally tense and sometimes quietly humorous. Don't be surprised if you're moved to tears of sadness
and of joy. Some families have dark secrets and may not be aware of the cruelties inflicted while keeping them. This book
is gripping and insightful. Do yourself and others a favor by reading it. You will not be disappointed!

I read this book from the library when I was Vivienne's age. It's a mystery why people who appear to have so much suffer
so. This book is definately worth the read especially if you're the parent of a teenager.

This was an amazing and very personal look into the life of a suicide survivor. The author really opened up about her feelings
during the traumatic 12 years following the suicide of her true love. I have just recently become a suicide survivor and
this book helped me deal with alot of the emotion and grief that I am experiencing. I was easily able to submerse myself
into this book. Very hard to put down once you start reading.

This is an insightful little book, doesn't take too long to read but gives you just what you're (probably) looking for. It's
written by a clinical psychologist and a medical doctor, who have also both studied religious and spiritual teachings.
Without using unexplained long words or abstract concepts, it provides you with encouraging and helpful information on the psychological, medical and spiritual aspects of the suicide topic, with gentle advice on what you can do. Helpful for anyone considering suicide (even a little), or if you know someone that is and you want to help them live, as it contains a good amount of detail on the various causes, the consequences, as well as practical help on ways to overcome. The authors include case studies from their own clients and others to illustrate their points.
As the book says, "Many who consider suicide might well make a different choice if they knew where the decision would lead them."
It could also be very beneficial to someone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, as I believe it can help the healing process to realise some of the background details around what can cause suicide and what happens after a suicide takes place (most importantly, the book can help you understand that it's not your fault!)
I genuinely believe that this book has the potential to save lives. If you think you might need it for any of these reasons, please buy it, and when you're ready find other resources and professional advice to help too. I wish you all the best.

This book was written a long time ago and most people who see it won't know that the hippie in the author photo went on to
become a leading educational administrator and then the minister of a thriving church. Writing in the 70's, he was one of
the first to understand that teenagers would need to be treated differently in the years to come: not with expectations of
total obedience but also not as adults to be left adrift in a mine field of serious risks. It's dated but worth the read
for any parent who wants to find a way to be liberal but firm.

Of course this person has right to speak on these subjects and the rest of us to listen. However, she does it with great grace
and humility and faith, which makes it an important book.
Sad to see it out of print, and this has many important things to say on these vital topics. Her strong quotation from the Bible makes it difficult to sidestep these issues.
Her advocacy with these sensitive issues makes this read even more relevant and touching.
Find and read and be blessed.

The revised edition of When Living Hurts: For Teenagers, Young Adults, Their Parents, Leaders And Counselors is out, and it's
a fine update to a much-lauded 1985 original print, written for young people in trouble or those who wish to help them. Teens
are more susceptible to depression, loneliness, anger and suicidal tendencies, and When Living Hurts addresses these feelings,
offering insights about worries and hopelessness in an imperfect world. Help can be found to address such worries: When Living
Hurts tells where and how to find it.

You will not want to put this book down. There are a lot of books written that help us with grief. This book is a book we
all can relate to in so many ways - whether you are facing grief or not. What I love most about this book is Daniel Johnson
states that it is okay to ask "Why?" Life is hard. This book helps to make sense out of some of the difficulty.
