If you were a fan of the movies or just an anime fan this is not to be missed. The story differs extensively from the movies
but you can see how it influenced the shows plot lines. Focusing entirely on Karla you will be surprised how far the story
came to become a 13 episode hit. The Manga is nothing short of spectacular and the story is outstanding. The artwork is
well done and in b/w loses nothing. All your favorite characters are here. This is a must pick up if you loved the show.

A Roller-Coaster Ride into a world of weirdness...

This book has it all: government conspiracies; crash-retrievals of military aircraft that might (or might not!) have been
brought down by UFOs; a plethora of weird characters and genial oddballs (myself included); a plot worthy of The X-Files meets
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets Jack Keroauc; and enough alien madness to keep any fan of the strange world of the UFO
happy. The Blackdown Mystery is a tale of the highs and lows of British Ufology and a quest for the truth about a bizarre
incident that all began on a dark and mysterious hillside in the ancient English countryside...

Life Affirming and Awesome

I wept with joy while reading this book. It affirms that we ALL are perfect, whole and complete just the way we are. God is
LOVE, not wrath nor judgement. The book makes so much sense and when an angel speaks, I listen. The book of bricks from the
angel is one of blessings, which is emotional training; giving, which trains the mind; and deeds, which trains the body. What
a perfect way to begin to live one's life, blessing one's neighbors and those that previously have irritated us changes the
way we feel. Giving of our selves affirms the heart and by your own hand helping a neighbor affirms one' humanity and divintiy.
May each of you find the peace that I did after reading this book. Bless your heart

I was thrilled to see a book offered that prompts children to interpret, understand and then illustrate their interpretations
of the lessons taught in this book. As a teacher, I find that most children's books attempt to dazzle the eyes and do not
demand a great deal in terms of creativity. In this book, however, the children are given initial prompts to help them
shape thier ideas about feelings, but are then given the space to draw and experiment which allows them to reinforce and
reinvent further variations on a theme. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing a different and more
individual approach to learning about feelings...top on my list!

I bought this book a few months ago on a whim for my 1-yr old, and it turns out to be a good purchase, despite his being younger
than the recommended age. He often chooses it from his library and goes through it page by page, flipping open the flaps
to see the hidden pictures underneath. Naturally, he's not very gentle with the flaps and some are slightly torn, but that's
the extent of the damage. He even pretends to "read" the story and his enthusiasm is obvious, which is the point of having
fun children's books, isn't it?

I loved this book for my daughter. Many of her first words came from this book-honey, bee, nose, book, door. The book has
catchy, cute rhyming text that your child is sure to remember. I wish Disney had more board books like this one.

You often hear in academia that cultural analysis should be better integrated with political economy. Usually this means
that the latter should disappear beneath 'political' readings of popular cultural texts. But Branding New York actually achieves
this feat, showing how neoliberal New York arose after the fiscal crisis of the mid-seventies through a cultural project that
defined New York City as the stomping ground of the 'new class' (i.e. 'yuppies', epitomized by the readership of New York
magazine) and a safe space for business and tourists. This counterrevolution required real work, not so much because the
forces opposing it were well organized (they were not) but because such phenomenon as graffiti (which Greenberg writes sympathetically
about as an effort by inner-city youth to assert their right to the city and to be heard), crime, exploitation films like
'Escape from New York', and even serial killers kept interfering with the image makeover (even the cops got into the act--angry
about budget cuts, they produced leaflets warning tourists to stay away from 'Fear City'). Greenberg shows the way elite
organizing drives to remake NY as a desirable locale for financial business (not its main function in an earlier era when
it was dominated by manufacturing) converged with the cultural struggle through the I Love New York campaign, a wildly successful
logo and jingle which was underwritten by governmental agencies (its first iteration had a slightly touching, desperate undercurrent,
as Broadway casts donated their labor in an effort to lure enough tourists to keep their shows going; a later version just
emphasized all the tax breaks and other favors businesses could now receive).
The cultural work that Greenberg describes has now become the 'common sense' predominant in New York, notwithstanding 9-11 (which she devotes a coda to). Much--perhaps a majority--of the city languishes in low paying jobs, lousy schools, a public transit system still getting cut even as population and ridership increases, etc. But New York is now a 'great place to live' for a predominantly white, relatively affluent class, and a great place to do business for financial and real estate interests that get a sympathetic ear from city government beyond the wildest dreams of the seventies. A new cultural struggle will need to be waged if the city is to be remade as a genuinely inclusive space that lives up to the potential of its multicultural population. Greenberg's book should be read closely by anyone interested in doing so.
