This book was designed to provide the whole poems or literary statements that were either read in a movie or at the funeral of someone famous. Because it is so neatly compiled it is very easy to find one or several that will suit one's needs.

First off this isn't a book but a pamphlet the size of what one gets with a new DVD player, computer etc. And at $8 its almost as expensive as a hardback book from Amazon.com. See if your library has a copy and save your money. If you want a good book on the subject of do it your own burial/funeral services check out books like Caring For Your Own Dead and Dealing Creatively With Death: A Manual of Death Education and Simple Burial. Am sending this book back since it has no helpful information and is overpriced.

This book outdoes every funeral manual I've ever seen. The depth and breadth of the essays and sermons---quite astonishing! On the one hand, this book is extremely practical in its guidance. And on the other, the book provides important theological background for understanding national, local, and personal crises---something that is missing from the other funeral manuals I own.

I've concluded that this is not really a funeral manual--it's much more, and therefore will remain on my desk for many years to come. Except that two weeks ago I loaned it to a therapist friend, and I'm afraid I'll never get it back!
