Hmmmm, a bit scary to identify with so many of these cleverly observed poems. Vivid imagery particularly close to the hearts of ladies on the better side of 40. A tonic for grumpy old women and the men who they can't live without. So like "an exocet mouse" my husband has disappeared somewhere with my copy.
Something to make you chuckle.............

This is a lovely book of comic/nostalgic poetry 'for women of a cetain age' and cheered me up on a 'low' day; I keep it handy in the kitchen and dip into it....it never fails to make me smile, whichever poem I choose at random. QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT.....you need a copy in your kitchen too!

I have every episode of The Office including the specials and I can't get enough of it. I highly recommend this book to any enthusiast of this comedy phenomenon, especially if you're an American.
I consider myself pretty quick to pick up on the subtleties of British humor, and I think I catch pretty much everything, but I cannot deny that Brits speak much faster than I am used to and therefore welcome any reinforcement that the scripts give. I also like to quote funny lines from The Office and this helps me to get them right...stupid huh?
Anyway, there are also some good photos of the TV scenes as they play out in the scripts. Cheers Office fans =)
The humor leaps off the page.

One would imagine that the mere written words that make up The Office scripts would lack the dark humor and timing of the show. Fortunately that ain't the case as the scripts are just as funny and draw attention to elements that may go missed on the show. And from a writing point of view, it's interesting to see how well characters and situations are developed with the sole use of dialogue and minimal action description.
The scripts are printed on glossy paper with 2 or 3 high-res photos per page and are book-ended by funny e-mails and notices from David Brent himself. A definite must have for fans of The Office.

Deftly handling a subject as sticky as it is diverse, this "How To" book really tells it well. With comedic presentation and careful illustration, this should be on everyone's "Halloween How To" shelf.
Careful, it's hard to put down, as is the book!!

This book is not only the most creative effort of the Duct Tape Guys (by far), it's colorful (full color throughout), funny, and actually useful as a year around costume idea book. Their sixth book, "Duct Tape Halloween" definitely sets the new standard for duct tape books! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Orwell's Revenge is a literate masterpiece, written impressively by Peter Huber. Modern thoughts are given a new outlook in Huber's amazing work. Peter Huber is truly a genious and his work should be read immediately.

I have been fond of the negative utopias for some years -
Orwell's "1984" being my favourite. You might imagine the
excitement I felt upon seeing a sequel!
At first read of Huber's sequel I was, however, outraged! What
gaul to plagerize Orwell as this book does ... until,
as I read on, I was dumbfounded to realize that this is
*exactly* what Orwell *would* have appreciated - the
symetry, the self-reference, the genius of Huber to become
his own Winston Smith and rewrite the story is perfect.
Huber does, indeed, add his own original touches: by
incorporating Orwell's other writings into the work,
thus giving us insight into Orwell's evolution and psychology,
and more cogently,by updating The Party and
Oceania into today's world of political correctness,
multiculturalism, the green movement and other frightening
signs that Big Brother is alive and well.
Huber, however, holds out the hope that the "telescreen"
(i.e. the Internet) will be the very tool that undoes the
power of Big Brother/Big Government/Intellectual Enslavement
that masquerade as today's fashionable causes (
political correctness, eco-green-fascism, and
multiculturalism) by providing true freedom of thought,
expression and commerce - all anathema to centralized
control.

"You are about to read the most important book you have ever read. All of the information contained in this volume is critically important for your continued survival on this planet, to say nothing of the other planets, moons, and the many near-Earth asteroids. We have gone through great pains to present to you accurate, detailed information, sometimes going so far as to open a couple of books. In a number of cases we have even risked the lives of total strangers who did things for us on a dare after consuming vast quantities of beer, which we ourselves paid for. We have even pretended we are more than one person when writing this text. This is the sacrifice we have made...
"You should take this handbook everywhere you go, because you simply do not know when it will come in handy. You should also share it with your friends. Buy a copy for everyone you know. In fact, if you buy it for five friends tonight, something good will happen to you. If you do not, you will be beset upon by untold misfortune. Bob Unger from Lebanon, Maine, neglected to buy copies for any of his friends, and the next day he was eaten by wolves.
"Don't take that chance!"

I really reccomend this book. The OTHER Worst-Case Scenario Handbook will make you laugh out loud. It's especially good for bathroom reading, for two reasons: 1- It has short sections, that are easy to read if you only have a couple of minutes at a time. 2- It's so funny, you'll soil yourself.

PETTED is poignant, hilarious, profound, and imaginative. One suspects the authors were cats in a previous life. This book will expand your mindset of what it means to be a cat, and have you laughing at the same time. All the kitties in the book come to a good end, enriched by their "near death" experiences--especially one particular cat. I highly recommend this book and even sent an e-mail to the publisher to tell them how much I liked it! and request that the authors write more cat books ASAP!!

Pranks 2 is a timely set of interviews with tricksters who help us see the arbitrary boundaries and nonsensical rules that we so often simply accept without question. Stories from the likes of Margaret Cho, The Yes Men and the Billboard Liberation Front (and many more) explore the rebellious spirit and authority-questioning that has long been a vital part of the American experience, but seem to be running at an extremely low ebb in the new millenium. This book will revive your prankster spirit, and inspire you to make the world a more creative and lively place.

I have a lot of interests in things, and I can sum the command for this book up in three words: BUY SAFE HAVENS.
Safe Havens is a great strip about school kids and their offbeat talking animals. There is always a story to the strip and the artwork and timing is great-- you never know what'll happen next!
Anyway, I'm always looking for new Safe Havens books; it pleases me, and I'm difficult to please. The magic of the strip and the awesome characters and situations will totally blow you away. I insist, for the last and final time: BUY SAFE HAVENS!!!!

I first discovered "Safe Havens" on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer website, and got addicted pretty quick- and had to get the book. The comic strip's artwork is quite pleasing to view, and the situations of the characters- mostly school age children and their pets- are in a similar vein as the long departed "Bloom County" or "Calvin & Hobbes" strips, although with a more up-to-date twist. Definitely a must for those who like offbeat (yet CLEAN) humor!

As is the case with many others, this is also my second book to read from Russell C. Connor. And like his first book, Race the Night, this one did not disappoint. The book takes on an aura of comedy early on, and at many points, this feeling resurfaces, but make no mistake...the action is there and in full force, leaving you to marvel at new plot twists and guess at what happens next. The stereotypical "Hollywood slasher flick" aspects of the storyline, which Connor himself pokes fun at in the plot, are also enjoyable to read, and completely enhance the overall readability of the book (and aren't so predictable, like one would think...) The novel is wonderfully laid out, and very clean and streamlined. The action is well-written into the plot, so as to make a believable story out of something that is a little less (or maybe more?) real than our grasp on reality lets us accept. Connor writes the novel very fluidly, keeping consistency from one subplot to the next, and somehow makes the whole thing come together at one final point in the book...then wrap up with a sudden and surprising conclusion. You may think you have read these types of books before, but you haven't read anything like Second Unit. Buy it today!
Great second novel from Russell C. Connor

This story follows a secondary film crew as they work on a new film by the fable german director, Torsten Gross. Gross's films are legenday in europe for their extremely graphic death scenes and spot on special effects.
The crew has to deal with Gross's ruthless work ethic, extreme eccentricity, and the fact that the actresses keep dying off after they complete their role in the film.
This book is a delight to read. It will chill you with it's descriptive, disturbing imagery. You find yourself effortlessly entralled with the characters, and rooting for Davis and Jared almost from the get go. The suspense builds and builds to a stunning climax that will not leave your thoughts for at least a month. You'll never look at hollywood special effects the same.
