I thoroughly enjoyed reading Maple Dale. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I'm also a riding instructor and could relate to Leah's passion for her horses as well as her relationships with her students. I look forward to reading more stories from MaryAnn.

This book was such a fun read! I own horses and can relate to the story as our barn was sold to developers. I could not put this book down and finished it in a day. The characters are so real and the writing creates a vivid picture for the reader. I think anyone who enjoys a good mystery and loves horses will be thrilled to own this book!

My authors of choice are Stephen King and Anne Rice, so when I was introduced to Maryann Myers by way of Call Me Lydia I'll admit it took me awhile to pick it up and start reading. I am so very glad that I did! Maryann has a wonderful way of making you care about her characters...the cast of Mapledale is no exception. A half dozen very different people drawn together by a single force and you can't help but turn the page to see how their struggles will be settled. The force is Mapledale, the relationships numerous, and the emotions heartfelt (whether it's pride, concern, joy, or contempt). On top of everything else it is simply a really GOOD story. It may be getting colder outside now, but there is a very inviting fire burning between the pages of this book - I suggest brewing a cup of tea and settling into the warmth that is Mapledale. Enjoy! And thank you, Maryann!

From someone who doesn't read much, I found I couldn't put this book down. I just had to find out what would happen next. Maple Dale will make you laugh and cry but thru it all you'll find a character you can completely relate to. A true story with real emotion, at the end you'll just want more. I have given the book as gifts several times and everyone has agreed, this IS a great story. I hope that MaryAnn gives us many more great books, readers need more wonderful stories like hers. What an imagination!

MaryAnn Meyers...the Artisit

MaryAnn Meyers is a true artist. Maple Dale, as with the other books I have read by MaryAnn, is a canvas on which she has painted her characters in livid fashion. She stirs emotion with a heartwarming story line that floats like the spirit of the main character, Leah. You find yourself despising the villan, feeling empathy for the young equestrian and demanding justice for the headmistress of Maple Dale.

Although I know very little about horses and riding, Maple Dale was a wonderful read and continues to solidify my position as a true MaryAnn Meyers fan.

Good collection, poor introduction

This collection is attractive, affordable, and convenient. Were it not for the bothersome introduction, I would have gladly given it five stars. As it stands, however, I could do without radical leftist Sidney Hook's presumptuous introduction, wherein he arrogantly dictates to me precisely how I should read Thomas Paine, and in what manner Mr. Paine is correct and incorrect in his reasoning. Ripping out the introduction or going over it line-by-line with a black sharpie would be a marked improvement to this volume.

Thomas Paine is the Main Man who started the two Revolutionary Wars, first America which took 7 years then afterwards France starts her own Revolution with Thomas Paine's help but hers is won almost overnight. Thomas Paine not only started these Revolutions but he participated in both. This book is a real page turner that you won't be able to put down!

With all of the current claims by people of what the Founding Fathers intended for our country I decided to begin reading them for myself to achieve a personal perspective on what the Founders intended. This book and the writings contained are an excellent source of information and insight as to what Thomas Paine's intentions were.

Thomas Paine is an important figure in the founding of the United States. Although he was later ignored by the United States (when he was a prisoner in France...).

The book is a good compilation of the works of Thomas Paine. Paine was a smart man and his writings were influential in the American Revolution (Common Sense) and the French Revolution (Rights of Man). This book combines the writings into one book.

Common Sense is a short phamplet that greatly influenced the United States foundation. The sensical arguments seem obvious to readers in the 21st Century but in the late 18th century they were ideas that people needed to hear, and was a kickoff to the drive for independence. Common sense was read by a lot of Americans at the time and would do students of American History well to get the feelings of the Revolutionary period.

I have read much on the history of our beautiful country and also of other countries as well.

This book by Thomas Paine "COMMON SENSE AND THE RIGHTS OF MAN" is an extraordinary out line of how man should form his government and live in harmony with his fellow man in this world. Thomas Paine, one of our founding fathers, is a man that saw the rights of man being trampled on by England. His writing is plain common sense, of which many of us fail to utilize, about what a government should be and should not be. Our founding fathers gave us a Republic, if we could keep it. So far we have taken the declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights completly our of context. We are nowhere near the government our founding fathers gave us.

Those who wish to find the truth are compelled to read this book. Those who are satisified with the status quo will continue to be so. Read one of the best books ever written on the Rights of Man and then make your decision whether you want to live free men or langour in slavery.

It is thought provoking, inspirational and comforting to read the Angel's messages and Doreen's comments. Reading "Messages from Your Angels" is like getting a big hug from someone you love! It made me more keenly aware of my surroundings, i.e., music playing on the radio, the scent of someone's perfume, wind chimes "singing" in a soft breeze. It made me feel in touch with those who have passed on and helped me feel more at peace living in their absence. Pork Chops and Applesauce: A Collection of Recipes and Reflections

Wow, loooove how the pictures are so vivid and deep in color, and that there are no borders!

Since getting this deck, nearly EVERY reading I have given becomes VERY detailed and usually pleasantly surprises the person being Read.

These are now one of my 'standard' decks I grab when someone wants a Reading! (And I'm a beginner!).

I've been reading Tarot and teaching Tarot for 25 years and probably own a dozen different Tarot decks. The Morgan-Greer is my all-time favorite. No matter how many other decks I try to work with, this is the one I always return to. The colors are so vibrant and the artwork so beautiful, this deck truly speaks to me. The people illustrated on these cards are handsome, extremely appealing, and reflect each aspect of life clearly. If your intuitive or psychic abilities are stimulated by visuals, this is the perfect deck for you!

This deck was the one I learned to read with. The graphics on the cards are bold and tend to jump out to your eye. I went from this deck to the Thoth deck but end up using this one regularly as I have a rapport with it. I don't think the cards look dated at all.

This is a great deck. The cards are vivd and the people are memorable in the cards. The lack of a border gives the cards expansiveness and the bright, deep, and rich colors pop out at you. The cards also give great readings.

I couldn't decide between this deck or Robin Wood....well....

I got the Robin Wood first and was soooo disappointed. Everyone is super happy, dimpled and "too" pretty. The colours seem just washed out and weak, and some of the cards look downright silly and cheesy.7 of Wands spring to mind. The Wheel of Fortune is the worst I have seen in any deck, it's so bad it is hard to look at. I had high hopes, but when I got it in my hands, wow what a let down.

Then I got the Morgan-Greer. WOW. From the minute I took it out I was in love and enraptured. The saturated colours, no borders and unusual classic artwork drew me into what seems a world of it's very own. When I take out this deck (just like Tarot of the Old Path) it is as if I am entering and being enveloped in a different world. The pictures seem simple, yet there is so much going on, much symbolism to find hidden. Laying the cards out side by side is powerful. A story naturally unfolds and blends one into another. And one thing I discovered a few days ago was how different the cards look in darker light. The use of colours and richness of them have a unique power in this deck, very mystical.

I myself was worried that the star backs which recieve so many complaints were going to be a drawback, but upon seeing them I loved those as well. Random hand-drawn stars are much more enticing than just perfect ones. The only thing I can think of to improve the deck would be a different darker colour for the back. A rich purple or forest green.

These cards must be seen in person too get the full impact of the deep, evocative colours and intense gorgeous artwork. This deck has been around 28 years for a reason....it's a classic that speaks to the inner, quiet center of a person and captures you in it's magic.

I first read this book about 5 years ago. At the time I had no idea that it would have such a dramatic effect on me. Currently, I am on my 2nd copy and will probably order a 3rd soon. (just to be sure). I cant imagine life without this book to reference, espechially when times are tough. Once, when someone asked me what 3 things I would bring to a deserted island, ( Im sure youre all familiar with that question)--this book was one of the 3 things. I have trained myself to pick up this book anytime I find myself being tossed around by any difficulty I might find myself in. I can open it to any page, and there I find helpful advice on ANY problem. Not only wisdom but Truthful, honest solutions and to every problem that has ever been known to man. All the answers are contained in its pages, and I know they are all the answers that I will ever need.

Of the thousands of books I have read over the years _The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power_ has been by far the most important, at least on a personal level. When I first read it - I came across it by chance - I felt a rather strange but pleasant emotion of inner freedom and release. Now I turn to this book whenever I feel anxious or oppressed and the weight just falls from my shoulders. Vernon presents some of the greatest spiritual truths of the ages in very clear language, without dogma, jargon, psychobabble or new age fluff. The 'cosmic power' he talks about is about peace and clarity of mind, about realisation of one's true self by breaking free from the conditioned ego or social self that we normally live from. Through the ages there have been a small number of men and women who knew Truth and Vernon was one of them. Read this book and find out for yourself. jonathancolman@hotmail.com

Mystic Path to Cosmic Power

Review Date: 2006-03-03
Mystic Path to Cosmic Power by Vernon Howard is a perfect book. It was written by an awakened man and it explains in clear language the way to become awakened. I attended classes and personally met this man and he embodied everything he taught about awakedness. He spoke clearly and directly to the ignorance that enslaved me and called it out for me to observe, and in that observation, I have seen freedom. There's nothing to "do" to awaken. There is something to see. Vernon Howard explains the darkness so perfectly that light becomes apparent. He was teaching these truths before so many others, yet his words are still the purest. If you are suffering, you need this book. Vernon will show you why you suffer and how to leave that suffering behind. Whether you suffer from guilt, loss, fear, jealousy, anger, or anything else, he will show you the thought patterns that have created that suffering and how those thought patterns can be seen through and risen above. Before I read Vernon's work I was depressed and hostile. His teachings have released me from this painful way of living. He can do the same for you.

Mystical Read.

The mystic path has never been so simplistically put into words. The wisdom of mysticism is hardily the best philosophy to explicate into tangible, solid practices. The nature of Howard's parables teach truths otherwise missed in daily life. The book hits on key events of typical life as seem from the eyes of mundane trivialities, though later boarders on the line of cultism. I must stress that this book reads well, as it's beautifully narrated through format and relevance. The end of the book leaves the reader with tough choices, being that the book easily compels the reader to 'act' by quickly adopting many of the advice scattered through the chapters, the final step might be beyond the realm of possibility for most. Whether you choose to fully implement your Cosmic Power into your everyday life and seek to conglomerate with others of the same 'mystic level', or extract key concepts in which you will utilize for selfish purposes, The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power will get you there.

This is an excellent book to use as a planning guide for trips to any of the National Parks in the US. I have been to many of the parks, and without exception the book's advice about how to get there, when to go, what to look for, etc., is excellent in every way. The book is filled with excellent color photography, and accompanying explanatory text with detailed entrance information that is particularly useful in some of the busier parks. There is also some good introductory safety information presented, but as always, it is a good idea to talk to local authorities when arriving (this is especially a good idea in the Alaska parks, many of which are veritably full of bears.)

All the parks are worth seeing, and this book gives a good introduction to them. Among the favorites that I have been to and particularly recommend are Denali National Park, an easy drive from Anchorage, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, on the island of Hawaii (the "Big Island"), Zion National park in Utah, home of some of the most spectacular desert landscape in the world, and Badlands National Park in South Dakota, featuring not only spectacular landscapes, but amazing animals in abundance.

This book is a great place to start; now get going and enjoy the beautiful National Parks!

I obtained the first edition of this book over ten years ago, and have kept that along with the latest edition in my book collection ever since. At that time I had never been to a national park, but this little book insipired me to visit 35 of them, volunteer in two, and work seasonally as a ranger at one.

This book is packed with useful and interesting information about each of the parks, and it is a pleasure to read even when not planning a trip. I highly recommend it.

The book not only gives you an overview of the parks, practical information such as how to get there, and nearby lodging etc., it has very good recommendation of must-see stops, and different levels of hikes you can take and what to expect. We used the book at every park and it helped us effectively use our time and it is a joy to read even without going to the parks.

I don't think the founding fathers had an iron-clad 2 party monopoly based government in mind when this country was founded. In fact in was thought that the most intelligent and creative citizens would volunteer their time and energy to run the government and then return to their real vocation. What a distance we have traveled since those ideas. Robert Roth really tells it like it is, not like we hear it from the political parties. Our government is way out of control, when it cost $40 million to run for a primary in California's gubernatoral race and when big business can buy legislation almost on demand. It's time for change, and Roth's book sheds all the light we need to see how crucial and timely that change is needed. What an extraordinary book he has written and what a must it is for all of us to read it.

For anyone interested in third party politics, this book offers a good snapshot of the Natural Law Party, which, along with the Libertarian, Reform, and Constitution parties stands as one of the "major minors" -- often on the ballot, with a fairly professional operation. That said, much of the book drags, as Roth preaches about NLP views on several issues at great length, and gives short shrift to the party's actual plans for future electoral action. Perhaps silliest -- though most telling about what a minor party must face -- is a lengthy section about the creation and publicity of just one press release.

A real eye opener for anyone interested in the future of our country (and the world). This book clearly illustrates how the United States has become the least democratic country in the western world. It is the responsibility of every U.S. Citizen to read this book, something the Democratic and Republican parties do not want you to do. After reading this book, you will know how to make your vote really count!

This is a very humorous and readable indictment of our political process. It manages to clearly present the ways in which our democracy is not in the least democratic, without whining or complaining. It also presents the startling and surprisingly realistic proposals of the Natural Law Party.

With all the Pagan/Wicca books, this has to be one of my personal favorites.

While all other Pagan/Wiccan authors tend to take themselves too seriously, Dugan is very down-to-earth and she injects humor into what she writes -- no flowery wording, stuffy attitude, or Christian bashing (unlike Ravenwolf).

This is definitely one of the few books that I would recommend to anybody looking to studying Wicca/Paganism/Witchcraft.

Please pick it up if you find it.

For a long while almost everything I read about Witchcraft was authored by Silver RavenWolf. That hypocrisy and silliness was my milk-- I grew as a practitioner on those books. Now, however, I have read Natural Witchery by Ellen Dugan, and I feel changed as a Witch. I feel whole, like I've been given the whole story, not just Ellen's version of things. Because of this book I am now exploring Natural/Green magic, and am now opening up to Nature and her wonderful creations. I "tuned in" to what's going on with the Earth, and I have Ellen Dugan to thank for it. Fantastic book!

It is full of useful information, wisely put instructions for getting in touch with your own inner magic and personal anecdotes that light up the text.I totaly recomend it as a starting point for anyone who wants to explore the path of Natural Magic. As for those who are just concerned about their friends and family being involved in Wicca it is a good book to start too as it clarifies many misunderstandings about questions like the source of wicca's power etc. In general I loved it! It is simple and powerful. If you are looking for down to earth information on magic and having fun in the same time this is the book for you!

I got this book based on the positive community reviews I read and I was not disappointed. There are so many recipes in this book that I want to make. The Chunky Tomato-Vegetable Sauce on page 109 was absolutely yummy! It is now my husband's favorite pasta sauce! I thoroughly enjoyed the Vegetable Chili recipe on page 185. And everyone loved the Shrimp Curry with Asparagus and Snap Peas on page 94. In addition to the great recipes, the book has great informational sections on recommended portion sizes for the average adult (which is really important re-learning that I have had to do) as well as really important background data behind the science of the diet recommendations (look for this in the back starting on page 286). This is now my favorite cookbook and the first cookbook I consult when I am looking for ideas for what to make for dinner! I have enthusiastically recommended this book to both family members and friends!

I'm on Day 6 of a 30-day vegan challenge (just diet, not lifestyle). I just got this book last week and the timing was perfect. It has dozens of gourmet-tasting but easy recipes that are either vegan or easily converted--vegetable recipes, soups, salads, grains, and even some desserts.

Most of the recipes focus on plant foods (which is the whole point of "the new American plate"). The grains recipes often rely on intact grains, which I prefer over flours. The recipes are pretty simple but contain yummy combos I would never have done on my own, like quinoa with peas and sage, or roasted parsnips with sweet potatoes and apples.

The book has a nice layout, a thorough index, and photography that makes me drool (yes, over vegetables). I just wish I could find more books exactly like this one. I'd give it more stars if I could.

I've been cooking healthy for a while, but this is by far the best overall cookbook (healthy or not) I have come across. Everything I tried has been great. Even my picky daughter has bought a copy and lives by it, so whether you have gourmet tastes or plebeian like my daughter, it is a perfect cookbook.

It amazes me that the best healthy eating cookbook is also the best cookbook for modern American cuisine. My fiance bought this book about a year ago and I am consistently impressed by the variety and taste of the food contained within (it also helps that she is wonderful). My personal favorite: the couscous with raisin, apricot and ground beef.

I received this book wrapped in plastic and once opened I was overwhelmed with the smell of mildew. Once all was corrected (great customer service) I enjoyed it. I have cooked several things and tried new legumes I had never heard of. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the art of cooking healthy unusually good foods.

Among the numerous bibles on the market, by far my personal favorite for clarity and understanding of the Scriptures. Easy to read and follow, as well as a "connect the dot" style of formulated study throughout the bible. A great purchase I will not regret!

i purchased this as a gift for my brother. He is a real nut about having a quick way to look up words, their meaning and history... so he loved it.

This bible is awesome! I have always had a New King James bible but have never "studied" the bible before. A friend suggested this version and she was right! I love having a concordance. The word wealth "boxes" as you read are very helpful as are the sections before and after each book that truly teach, enlighten and guide in the Spirit. It also has everything a regular study bible would have. I highly recommend it!

This is a very easy to use study Bible. I wish I had had this 20 years ago. It sure would have helped with my early Bible Studies. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to understand and know the Bible.
