Helpful Votes: 15 out of 16 total.
Review Date: 1998-11-21
As the costs of many computer systems continue to come down more people are flocking to the stores, mail order companies, and the online sites to snap them up. Many of these people have never used one before or didn't have the time to figure out how they worked. Nat Gertler has written Easy PCs to acquaint new users with the basic operation and use of the latest computer technology.      Although computers have been around for a number of years now, many people still find them threatening to the way they have traditionally accomplished their work. Others may not feel comfortable taking on new technology altogether. This book was written to make the learning process a fun and enjoyable endeavor no one should shy away from.      Easy PCs is a wonderfully color illustrated and designed book that offers readers a very friendly introduction to computer technology. Readers are provided with information on how to set them up, connect major components, starting them, taking precautions, working with the Windows operating system, setting up the desktop display, choosing a screen saver, using sound, operating programs, going online, downloading programs, and more!      As are other books in Que's popular Easy ... series, this large easy-to-read book is well-suited for students, beginners, small companies, and even senior citizens who desire or may require an illustrated approach to learning. Readers will have no trouble learning how to successfully put computers to use. This book is highly recommended for children of grade school age. This book would make a great beginner's guide too!

GREAT BOOK
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2001-12-01
This is a great book for web design newbies. The book is well illustrated and has alot of good tips. The book works the best for users of Microsoft Front Page 200 and PhotoDraw 2000 because the examples are from those software packages. Although this book is written for individuals with some web design knowledge, it is easy enough to understand for the novice.

Windows 95 Is Still Around! This Book Should Be Too!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 1998-11-09
Although the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system is now standard on most new computer systems being manufactured today, many computer users have not taken the step to upgrade their systems as of yet. Many may not plan to do so for some time to come. Shelley O'Hara's Easy Windows 95 offers current and future Windows 95 users a quick and easy overview of this still popular operating system.      Readers are provided with a wonderful approach to learning about the operation and use of Windows 95. This book will walk readers through the basic functions and settings. Brief and concise instructions are provided on how to customize the desktop, setting up the taskbar, adding programs to the start menu and desktop, managing files, running applications, viewing documents, installing Windows 95 components, installing software and hardware, setting up printers, and much more!      Easy Windows 95 is large, fully colored, and features above average size printing that makes it easy to thumb through in a casual manner, allowing readers to move easily from one topic to the next. Readers will like the open workbook style format of the book. It can be placed on one's lap or near a computer and opened for convenient hands-off viewing. Quality color screen and menu shots show how to make the right moves and clicks necessary to make effective use of Windows 95.      As are other books in Que's popular Easy ...series, this book is well-suited for students, beginners, small companies, and even senior citizens who desire or may require an illustrated approach to learning. Readers will have no trouble at all learning how to successfully use Windows 95. Although there may be some good reasons to upgrade to the new Windows 98 operating system, Windows 95 still offers a great value for many people. This book will serve them as an excellent guide!

Godsend for new or temp workers, & for skittish senior staff
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.

At our office we keep several copies of this paperback circulating among new employees and temps (and any old-timers being coaxed to start using WORD). -- It has almost exactly the operations that people need to know and it's one of the VERY few computer books where the picture on the page looks convincingly and reassuringly like the options on the screen. HINT: We also mark up the first few pages (about "how to start your program and open a file") slightly, to make the statements reflect EXACTLY the steps and choices one sees on our local Windows systems. This helps the nervous beginners even more

Great for business users getting started with XP!
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2001-10-30
This is a good book. Like other Effective Executive's Guides, this 375-page book amounts to an easy tutorial on Windows XP Professional. The book covers all the core skills a person needs--especially the skills a business user needs--to comfortably and productively work with Windows XP. In a nutshell, the book is a good alternative to titles like Windows XP for Dummies, Teach Yourself Windows XP in 24 Hours, and Windows XP Step by Step--especially if you want something with a little less silliness, something a little more professional and something, shall we say, that assumes you're a bit smarter than the average tutorial reader. Note, though, that this book doesn't provide the depth or breadth of those really large and thorough Windows XP references such as Mastering Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Inside Out. If you're looking for a reference that answers every question (or almost every question) you want one of those of those other "big" books.

ESPN NFL 2K5 is the best football game on the PS2 and the guide is very comprehensive. It really is a must have if you want to explore everything ESPN NFL 2K5 has to offer, which is a lot because the game has a lot of depth that doesn't reveal itself to the casual player.
