Good Practice information Should be used with other material

I used these books in conjunction with Microsoft Official Curriculum. I passed all four of these tests on my first attempt. I do not have as much experience as others but I really worked hard with this material and the MOC.

One pet peave about the computer simulation. The design is great and it mimicks the test fine. However there are about 150-180 questions in each book, each test uses 50 random questions. However the second time you take the test, the questions are random again, meaning you can get some of the same questions twice.

My recomendation for passing MCSE. Exerpience, if you don't have much be prepared for some hard work to catch up. You will need the eval copies of server at least if not pro as well. Use all of the tools and services that each test covers for a good 30 minutes each, preferably much more, so you know what each one does and looks like. Next buy the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit. It is rather expensive, hint you can probably find it slightly cheaper at an all IT bookstore. Finally each section of these books gives references to chapters in the Resource kit. Read each of these chapters and practice again with the services with your eval copy. Pay special attention to the troubleshooting sections. Next take the test on the computer once. You should score above 60% if not you really shouldn't be doing this, because you obviously are not motivated enough to study the material thoroughly. Then review you problem areas. Finally open the book and do EVERY last question and understand why you got it right/wrong. This should be enough for you to pass.

Good Luck

Study for the MCSE 2000 and think you ready for the actual exam? Want to make sure you have done the final prep? The readiness review may be the answer to those questions and more.

The complete set covers the four core exams as well as the accelerated exam. The books are made for the final prep and not for those looking for the one stop answer; you'll need other material along with this set of books.

Breaking down each exam objective the topics discussed is in an exam cram like design followed up with a few review questions. There are screen shots to bring a more visual effect to the learning environment and overall the information is good.

There are too many topics to list but a few are installation and configuration of Windows 2000 Professional and Server, DNS, DHCP and active directory. The cd-rom included has practice tests on all 4 exams.

Overall Microsoft bundle a nice package and the prices is good. The software installed without a hitch and worked with Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000.

Better than Transcender at half the price! Transcender has some of the bells and whistles (ie. their little clock), but the questions and the tutorials are what count, and yours are exellent!

New Riders has done an outstanding job of formatting and explaining X.500 directory services in this book. Windows 2K is an enormous departure from the 4.0 environment and this book does a great job of not only relaying the info you need to pass the exams, but also can be a very handy desktop reference.. I found this book to be very enlightening in regards to Windows 2000 Directory Services planning and implementation. As an experienced Windows NT 4 administrator, this book may also prove useful for any Network Admin looking to upgrade their system(s) to Microsoft's latest NOS. The only qualm I had, was the fact that this book could have been somewhat more detailed regarding some of the explanations for RIS, DNS, and implementation of group policies. All in all a great book to add to your repertoire.

The book is designated to help a reader to prepare for a MCSE test. It is also very useful for an NT administrator moving toward Win2000. The truth is that if there is no Active Directory on a Win 2000 server there is no way to administer Win2000 domain. This very clever book explains the best practices available to administer Win 2000 Server and network. Highly recommended!

The best way to prepare for certification is through practice exams and Exam Gear is ready to help. NT Workstation Exam Gear is at the top of my list of material to use in the pursuit of the MSCE certification.

The simple to install and configure software had you testing in minutes and evaluating what areas you are weak in and need more study. Hundreds of question in several formats gives you every opportunity to pass the exam and be on your way to certification success.

The Study Mode gives you the ability to create a great learning environment, along with that comes the ability to track your progress and show you what areas need improvement. Also you can setup and take the adaptive version of the test as well as the non-adaptive version.

An excellent study tool also comes with online mentoring and if you register the product you even get bonus questions. ............................It looks like a good buy for the money and overall the software is a tremendous aide to have around.

With no end in sight for the comet-like pace of technological advances, methods of efficiency rush towards extinction faster than a pop star's career. In terms of Internet fluency, this is especially the case. In order to keep up, some need a guided tour down the Superhighway, while others simply need a point in the right direction. Therein lies the beauty of Microsoft Press' "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step."

Equipped with both Internet Explorer 5 installation software and practice files on CD-ROM, "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step" offers instruction to provide the novice through upper-intermediate users with the tools necessary to navigate the Internet's many waterways. For the expert user, it offers eloquent explanations of the newest features of this version of Explorer and customization techniques to promote optimum efficiency and enjoyment. For example, "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step" provides basic and helpful ways to find and manage information on the Internet, but also how to collaborate on the Internet using the NetMeeting function. "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step" is accessible to all, though. Upon entering the book, one is not made to wade through information already attained. Rather, the first section, "Finding Your Best Starting Point," guides you to appropriate sections of the book to further your understanding of Explorer instead of encouraging redundancy.

Edited by ActiveEducation, the format is incredibly user-friendly with well-outlined steps as well as reviews and practice exercises for each task just learned concluding each lesson. Sprinkled with tips along the way, each lesson is presented in a logical order with realistic graphics to simulate what one will encounter when engaging in the particular function(s) of that lesson.

If you are upgrading from Explorer 4, "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step" is the most helpful way to optimize the base of information you already know, then take that knowledge a step further to incorporate the upgraded and new features, making them work for you. There is, however, no reason for intimidation for the novice. If you have never used a browser, "Internet Explorer 5: Step by Step" will guide you from the most basic to the most advanced functions to make your Internet experience a success. -- Ian Hartnett

I bought this guide because we have had ISA Server installed for a while as a proxy server, but I was asked to make it work with Exchange, Sharepoint, and enable it as our VPN for mobile users. This book made it easy to do what was necessary to get it up and running without pages and pages of information. It's really nice to be able to carry this book around without getting a hernia!

I am the network administrator of a pretty big company. We put in ISA Server last year. I wish I had this book then. I can't tell you how many times I could have used this. It explains how to do basic stuff like block certain sites or make our Outlook server available using OWA, how to publish a web server, and how to lock down the environment to keep the bad guys out.

The book is sometimes short on theory and the reasons why stuff workes the way it does, but if you want something that is just down to the basics, though, this is a killer book that can help you use ISA easily.

This is intended for those responsible in the planning, design, implementation, and deployment of Microsoft Office XP for the enterprise. Customization and standardization of Office XP deployments is what this book is about and critical in rolling it out to 100 or more desktops. For the typical user this may not be of any use, but for application administrators its necessary.
