Review Date: 2007-12-28
This fun book in the "Baby Einstein" series features a nice story and teaches all of the basic colors, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, and black. Each page features a different color. The text encourages readers to search for all the different pages that color can be found in the picture. The text is simple, rhyming, and fun. There's also a lot of fun things happening on the pages to catch the eye.

The back of the book includes information and ideas for parents. They include tips on reinforcing color recognition and doing hands-on projects. Overall, this book is highly recommended as a way to teach colors and help your child to learn in general.

Lonely widow Grace Munson uses a little harmless subterfuge to force an acquaintance with the attractive and recently widowed Paul Kendos, but soon discovers Kendros to have an agenda of his own.

This is vintage Disney, she of the quintessential cosy mystery. Set typically in hard-drinking conservative 1960s east-coast suburbia, the threadbare plot is more than redeemed by Disney's skillful construction, sparingly doling out the clues between interludes of barbecues and bridge parties. She skillfully conveys the spirit of the era, and creates reader empathy with Grace Munson.

This comforting mystery can be read in an evening. Disney is an unjustly neglected crime writer, all her works shamefully out of print. For sheer consistency of quality and variety of plot, she is hard to beat.

I love this show. It's about this girl who was in the juvenile detention camp and once she got out she went to work at this horse racing ranch. People get involved with her and her past and she falls in love with this horse named Wildfire. The show is about conflicts between the characters, but the world is centered around Kris and Wildfire. This would be incredibly awesome to buy. I would try not to let a bargain like this slip through.

The Show Must Go On...

Review Date: 2006-01-01
In showbiz, there are always little glitches that occur behind the scenes that are fixed in the nick of time. In SHOWTIME, number nine of Disney's ongoing book series based on the TV show, That's So Raven, that's exactly what happens.

In part one, Raven's dad is scheduled to have an in-house appearance on the news, featuring his awesome culinary skills. Problem is, Cory's new friend from Florida tried to hypnotize Raven and Chelsea, which of course didn't work, but did manage to unknowingly hypnotize Mr. Baxter. The house is in an uproar trying to figure out the word to undo the damage before the news crew gets there. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen, and Raven and her mom are stuck with trying to work things out. As things start to get fishy, Cory manages to contact his friend and say the magic word. Whew! What a way to spend a couple of minutes, but it was worth it - Mr. Baxter got a permanent slot on the cooking segment of the news show.

Part two features Raven and Chelsea as new reporters for the school paper. Although Raven doesn't' want to do sports, she receives a vision that lands her a front-page story. As a reward, the advisor grants Raven and Chelsea two tickets to the hottest concert in town. Unfortunately, the star reporter, Serena, reminds the advisor that Raven will miss the basketball game, and that is more important to the school paper. Raven gets a vision and knows what's going to happen. The biggest issue is, Serena overhears Raven telling Chelsea what will happen, and also her blunder of mentioning that she's psychic. With an evil reporter girl holding this piece of information over her head, how will Raven manage to unravel her vision?

This book is very accurate in its similarities to the episodes on television. Packed with laughter and full color pictures, this is a recap that you don't want to miss! This is a great addition to any bookshelf, and a great way to promote reading.

The A-Z format was concise and easy to understand for children of this age group, while the top notch illustrative style of Doug Hart reinforced the visual learning of the alphabet. Children will enjoy the familiar Disney characters, parents will love the illustrations. A must for preschoolers!

An Exquisite Tale for All Ages

Arthur Rackham not only excelled at creating full color illustrations; he also was an unrivalled master at the art of the silhouette. In this reprinted children's classic, Rackham lavishly illustrates C.S. Evan's intricate retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story with one amazing silhouette after another. One of my favorite illustrations when I was a child was a fabulous two-page cross-section of Sleeping Beauty's palace, including such great details as slumbering cats, doves, scullery maids, the king and queen on their thrones, and of course the princess in her high tower. It never ceases to impress me how much a masterful artist like Rackham could communicate just with beautifully crafted graphic shapes alone- and remember, just because something's not in color, doesn't mean it's not good! Highly recommended!
