Disney Books

I received this passporter prior to our departure on May 10,2008. After reading it from cover to cover (never having been on a cruise before) I marked everything that seemed important. The Packing List page was especially useful. I wouldn't have thought to bring an electrical power strip, but this proved especially useful as there are very few outlets in the staterooms. This book should be the "bible" of first time cruisers!

Walt Disney's Peter Pan

Peter Pan meets the darlings and takes them to never land where they go through some things with the bad captain hook. I think that this was a really good book and it really teaches kids to have dreams. I think that kids around the ages under eleven would like this book the most. I really like how Peter Pan saves all his friends from the mean Captain Hook.

For many of Disney's animated movies, Disney has also created a picture book. This picture book version of Peter Pan, though created by Disney, does not match the movie. In this version Wendy reads a story to her brothers. The story contains all of the same adventures as the movie, just without Wendy and her brothers. The lost boys go Indian hunting and get caught, Peter Pan rescues the Indian princess Tiger Lily, Tinkerbell gets captured, and more.

The story is told well and flows nicely. My only complaint is that the sentences tend to be short. "It was the best time of day. The lamps were lighted in the bedroom. Wendy sat by the fire." Or "Peter and Tink lived in Neverland. It was a magic place. Indians camped in the woods. There was a pirate ship in the bay near Skull Rock. And there was Hangman's Tree." Other than the short sentences, the book is worded well.

As Disney made this book, one would expect the illustrations to be straight from the movie, but they're not. (Partly because the book was made before the movie.) The pictures seem to be slightly simpler, slightly older. They also contain a lot of spirit and expressiveness. While the pictures are slightly different form the movie, they are still obviously the same people. The biggest differences are in the faces- very little about the bodies changes.

If you are looking for a shortened form of the movie, this is not the book you want. It is however a very good story full of adventure, good friendship and great illustrations.

The story is Great. The popups are neat

With Disney re-releasing its animated movies, I have been on the look out for books, activities, and playsets that compliment the viewing of these movies for my 4 year old son. He was thrilled when I gave him this paint with water book reenacting the scenes from his favorite movie - Peter Pan. This paint with water book comes with detailed pictures from Disney's Peter Pan on thick paper. This is the very best kind of paint with water book around and the easiest for a preschooler to use. The colors are incorporated right into the picture vs. the newer paint with water books where the color patches are on the top of the page and the budding artist must bring the color down and add to the picture which can be frustrating and hard for a youngster. If you are a parent wanting to stimulate a child who loves to watch t.v. and movies, themed paint with water books from their favorite shows are a great idea!

I've only read the first 40 pages so far, but this is an incredible insight into Disney history and Imagineering. There is a lot of rare artwork and photography and fantastic first hand accounts of the planning and construction that went into these and other rides. A must read for Disney lovers and would-be Imagineers.

Love this Coloring Book; came back for another!! Has the Disney Playhouse Friends: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, JoJo, Higglytown Kids, Stanley, Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Lumpy the Heffalump, Darby and Buster, Kanga and Roo.

It has 400 pages of coloring fun! Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & My Friends Tigger & Pooh!
