Disney Books

In my last review I said I no longer collected comic books; while that is true, I forgot to mention that I do collect The Haunted Mansion comics whenever I can find a copy. I don't really consider them "comic books," rather more of a tribute to The Haunted Mansion (Disneyland's original Haunted Mansion that is, not those that have cropped up in Disney's various other theme parks). So far I am pleased with every issue that has come out, and any fan of The Haunted Mansion would definitely love these.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw one of my favorite 1960's rarities was finally available on CD! I bought the LP at a collectible records shop about 12 years ago, but simply had to add the CD to my Hayley collection. Quite simply the ultimate teen idol of all time, Hayley was a far better actress than singer, but this album is wonderful for what it is -- a period piece, so 1962. The sound quality is excellent, considering the age of the masters, and I am freshly reminded how good some of the instrumentation is on this classic album. Any Hayley collector contemplating this purchase really should go for it! And the cool thing is that so many people who were never able to find (or afford) the original vinyl can now have this wonderful album!

This is a beautifully illustrated book. I purchased it for my son recently and he loves it. We own the hardcover version and the pages are colorful, glossy and easy for him to read. The story of Hercules (Disney version) is told with the classic humor we have come to expect. A keeper for any Disney fan.

This "Pooh" storybook is about what happens when Christopher Robin tells Pooh that "winter will be here soon." Pooh quickly goes to tell all his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, but he doesn't realize that winter is a season of the year and not a person. He and his friends go out in search of winter and find a snowman, who at first they think is Christopher Robin and then they decide that the snowman must be Winter.

This is a cute, funny story in the Pooh tradition. This story is written by Kathleen W. Zoehfeld and illustrated by Robbin Cuddy. According to the fine print on the title page, this story was originally published in a slightly different form under the title "Pooh Welcomes Winter" in 2000. The illustrations look mostly like what you'd see on TV, although they have a bit of 3D edge to them. The illustrations generally add to the story and are fun to look at.

Overall, I'd say this is a great story to welcome in the winter and holiday season for any Pooh fan.

For all those interested in cosmology and other alternatives to it, this is really a must-read: a book written by a university proffesor who has practiced his subject in his life, so, this is not just a theoretical speculation about a subject quite difficult by itself such as that one of "dark matter". In this book Michael Disney makes at the end a most sounding proposal: a different law of gravitation when dealing with cosmological levels.

THIS DINSEYS HOLIDAY GREETINGS POSTCARD BOOK IS REALLY GREAT AND REALLY COOL. AND HAS ALL SORTS OF DISNEY CHARACTERS AND THE POSTCARD. THE PERSON WHO GETS IT WILL HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY EVER BEFORE!!!!

I am also from Indiana and in my mid 60's and as I read about Chuck's life experiences as he grew up in the midwest, moved to California, and worked with Walt Disney; many memories of my own life experiences during those times came flooding back. I believe everyone who reads this book will be able to relate some of their own experiences to the many stories of this country kid from Indiana who rose to senior publicist with Disney in the movie capital of the world. It is one of the best books I have read.

The illustrations in this book of one of my favorite Disney films is by far one of the best. It reminds me of how Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan were drawn earlier. I believe that this movie deserves to have a second chance just like Alice did. But this book will surely delight any reader who enjoys the classic Disney art style as I have and always will.
