"Nowhere is there a more happier book!"Review Date: 1999-09-26
This is a lovingly remembered book by the Dick and Bob, put together with the help of a few amazingly dedicated fans. Bruce & David and Jeff have produced another gem of a book. With them, too much is never enough.. the photographic treasures, the office cartoons all give the impression of being invited to dinner with the Shermans. I was lucky enough to hear the Shermans at the piano for a preview of this book at a Disney fan's convention last year. That was a night I'll never forget.. as the brothers sang their way through the songs of my childhood. Now the feeling of that night (and my childhood) has been captured in print, and I can't be happier! Thanks guys, it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious !

Amazing art, but why is it bound like that?!?Review Date: 2007-03-30
I wish they would have just bound the book to make it wide instead of letting it look "normal" on the outside but then making you turn it around as soon as you open it. Besides, it makes the book really hard to hold when it's open.
Whoa, did that even make sense?

A great book, I'll never regret this purchase.Review Date: 2007-10-18
I bought the book because my 5 year old daugher loves to draw, and because she's nuts over the Lion King at the moment. I figured it would be great for her to see not just finished work (like what winds up on television) but to also see sketches, concept drawing and paintings, and the like.
So I bought it. When I received it and saw it's pocket size I was so happy! It's absolutely the perfect size for a little kiddo like her, but the content is professional, serious and mature as I had expected. It's hard cover, totally full of pictures, and has glossy pages printed on high-quality paper. Some folks might have been put off by the size but for my purposes it was more than perfect!
We have great fun looking through it together and looking at all the different styles of artwork. If you or your kid likes to draw or paint, and likes this movie, You'll really be sorry if you don't buy a copy. No I don't work for Disney or Amazon. I just like to encourage and support my childs love for art any chance I get, and boy was this a great addition to her library.
A fantastic example of concept art for anybody!Review Date: 2004-02-18

AMAZING ART ANIMATIONReview Date: 2005-07-03
"The Lion King," Disney's 32nd animated film proved to be a smashing success, appealing to young, old, and those in between. As it filled movie houses, Disney mania swept the country again. The breathtaking visual effects that fascinated so many are brought to stunning life in "The Art of the Lion King" by Christopher Finch.
This lavish folio-size volume traces the creative process utilized in making the film, from black and white sketches to glorious full-color reproductions and even splendid fold-outs, one exhibiting the surreal beauty of the African natural world.
Actor James Earl Jones, the voice of Mufasa the Lion King in the film, contributes the foreword, while the text is by Christopher Finch, author of "The Art of Walt Disney."
Those fascinated by the art of animation and those touched by the story of Mufasa, Simba and Scar will treasure this color and fact filled memento.

Beck and Vidia Would Make a Good Team Review Date: 2008-03-27
Here, Beck's fascination with animals (she is an animal talent) leads her into an interest in exploring, and eventually to Vidia for advice.
It is too bad Vidia is usually being portrayed as the "bad girl". Her "speed talent" has become a "speed addiction" so she tends to break rules and disregard everything else as pointless. Her independent streak is her strength, but also her weakness because she is ALWAYS alienated from the "group"
I was excited at first when Vidia and Beck started talking because they would make a POWERFUL adventuring team! But no,... Beck is instead portrayed as not too bright and Vidia goes back to being an outcast.
Too bad.

Prilla and the Butterfly Lie (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) Review Date: 2007-12-29
Thanks for a GREAT book!!!
A magical delightReview Date: 2007-08-23
The story tells a gentle lesson about honesty. To avoid having to help her friend Nettle with the boring job of shearing caterpillars, the fairy Prilla tells a white lie and says that she likes butterflies better. This leads to a day of herding butterflies, when everything goes wrong.
The best parts of the story, however, don't come from its plot, but its descriptions of the fairies' day-to-day lives. They use caterpillar fuzz for their clothing and bedding. Every morning, they each get a level teacup of fairy dust, which is "shivery and cool" as it settles on their heads and shoulders.
The book is quality production in every way. The cover shows the redheaded fairy with her wings slightly textured and sprinkled with sparkles. The pages have a nice matte feel, and are sprinkled with intricate and delicate color illustrations.
The Disney Fairies series presents an interesting, lovely fantasy world for young girls to imagine. It's not too sappy sweet, since the fairies do make mistakes and and one of them, Vidia, is a real snip.
