This is a great book for beginning readers or girls who love Disney Princesses. It is a collection of 5 Step into Reading Books, into 1 book. My daughter has read these books at the library and loves them, so she really loves this collection with all of the princesses in it.

This Princess Story Collection is a nice way to add to your collection of Step into Reading books in an inexpensive way. I reqested this book from my local library to see what books were included. I am now here to purchase it for my daughter. It is a nice collection of 5 of the Step into Reading Early Readers. You get five Disney Princess books for the retail price of two if purchased individually.
The books included are:
"Cinderella's Countdown To The Ball" Step 1,
"Friends For A Princess" (Snow White) Step 1,
"A Pony For A Princess" (Belle) Step 2,
"Surprise For A Princess" (Sleeping Beauty or Briar Rose in this book) Step 2,
and finally "A Pet For A Princess" (Jasmine) Step 2.
I just wish Ariel was included in this collection as she is my daughter's favorite but she still loves the other princesses as well. She is only 4 and can't yet read them on her own but they are subjects that interest her. These books have one to two sentences per page and after I read a page I have her point out to me one of the words I read and have her either tell me what it starts with or how to spell it. She enjoys this.
My first grade son also enjoys the Step Into Reading books as well and they help encourage him to read.
The Step Into Reading books have lots of books on the latest movies my kids enjoy so it is fun for them to "read" about subjects that already interest them.
There is a Disney/Pixar Step Into Reading Story Collection to be released in August 2008. I hope they make more of these collections. I hope this information has been helpful.

My 23 month old daughter loves Rolie Polie Olie. It is by far her favorite TV character. This is her second Rolie Polie Olie book and she loves it! The book "Rolie Polie Olie" that we purchased for her last fall was her and is still her favorite book. Now she has a second favorite book in "Be My Pal!" We have another baby on the way and this book talks about how Olie and his little sister Zowie figure out how to be siblings and best pals. I highly recomend this book. I just wish that Disney would release more Rolie Polie Olie Merchandise. The selection is limited at this point.

I am buying my second copy because the first one finally wore out after many car trips. I gave this to my 2 year old when she had croup and had to go to the hospital. She decorated her oxygen tent over and over with the stickers! She continued to read and play with it in the car for several months after.

Being a big Rolie fan anyway, my daughter (2 years old) was so excited to get her new sticker book. She has had it for over a month now and still has plenty of stickers to place throughout the book, which is a big plus for a 2-year old. I highly recommend this product to anyone who likes Rolie and who likes their child to have a lot of fun with stickers. I know my daughter (and myself) enjoying playing "stickers."

This 29-page, lavishly illustrated book features Ariel--the beloved Mermaid from the Disney movie The Little Mermaid. Flounder makes an appearance in Sealed with a Kiss, as does Scuttle the bird.
Sealed with a Kiss is a Step 2 Step Into Reading book. Step 2 books target kids Preschool-Grade 1, focusing on basic vocabulary, short sentences, and simple stories. Step 2 books are for those children that are now reading with help, so if a child recognizes familiar words on sight and can sound out new words with help, then Step 2 would be just right for them.
Ever since we went to Disneyworld in August 2006, my son has been smitten with Ariel. Now that the Platinum edition DVD of the Little Mermaid is out, he's even MORE so!
When I saw Sealed with a Kiss, I knew my son would love it. The illustrations are awash with vibrant color--it's the most colorful book he owns, I think! The print is rather large, which is great, and because the sentences are rather short, the frustration level for reading is kept at a minimum.
If you're looking for an engaging story that helps children read, Sealed with a Kiss is an *excellent* choice. Beautiful illustrations, eye-popping color, simple sentences, and familiar characters make this book a winner!

A Very Romantic and Fun Rendition of Sleeping Beauty

Review Date: 2008-07-13
I love this book. If you are someone who loves the Sleeping Beauty story, it's a must. The book itself is sturdy in hardback, and worth the investment. Rackham's artwork is funny, done in the silhouette style of black and white cut-out, enhanced with red and green inks for dramatic effect. It takes on a timeless look, reminding me of the end of the summer season. C.S. Evens tells the story in the fullest detail you will find, stretching it to 11 chapters. This is the romantic version, and talks nothing of wicked mothers or babies getting eaten up by ogres! Instead, this story begins with the princess's parents and the frog; it details the jobs of the servants and what goes in the castle, the 12 good fairies and the mad one... The curse. The advice of the wizards, the destruction of the spinning wheels, the princess growing up, and the demise of the curse's reign. Of course, there are MANY princes that attempt to break the curse, but only ONE makes it through!

Arthur Rackham not only excelled at creating full color illustrations; he also was an unrivalled master at the art of the silhouette. In this reprinted children's classic, Rackham lavishly illustrates C.S. Evan's intricate retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story with one amazing silhouette after another. One of my favorite illustrations when I was a child was a fabulous two-page cross-section of Sleeping Beauty's palace, including such great details as slumbering cats, doves, scullery maids, the king and queen on their thrones, and of course the princess in her high tower. It never ceases to impress me how much a masterful artist like Rackham could communicate just with beautifully crafted graphic shapes alone- and remember, just because something's not in color, doesn't mean it's not good! Highly recommended!

My 3-year old daughter was thrilled with this book! She loves Snow White, but didn't like the original story at all (because of the "mean old witch" as she called her). If you don't like the violence of the original Snow White story, or if your child is scared of the witch, this is a very cute alternative. It's become a bedtime favorite at our house!

I wish I still had it! It was the book version of the seqeunce from the Fantasia movie starring mickey mouse. I wish I still had this book. It would bring back so many happy memories!

IN A NUTSHELL: IF YOU HAVE SEEN FANTASIA YOU KNOW THIS BOOK
This is essentially a set of storyboards that depict the 'Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of 'Fantasia' and 'Fantasia 2000'. Words are added to describe the action, unlike the animated counterpart in Fantasia, and their is a little preamble about Mickey's duties for the Sorcerer which are not actually in the animated version, but are implied. In this preamble Mickey is shown "doing all the work" -- "he chopped the wood", "he swept the floor", "he carried the water from the well". This preamble ends very neatly with Mickey thinking aloud, "if I had that hat I would never have to work again". In essence, this addition gives a motive for Mickey's actions which we have all seen in 'Fantasia'.
The rest of the book essentially follows the events of the animated segment, like a collection of storyboards with descriptions given to them. The other difference from the animated version is the end, which in 'Fantasia' shows the annoyed Sorcerer smacking Mickey in the back-side with his broom. In this book meant for young readers this little piece of humorous violence is sensibly replaced with the Sorcerer taking his hat back with a scowl and Mickey contritely going back to the work he had sought to avoid.
BOTTOM LINE: ATTENTION GRABBING READER THAT KIDS KEEP GOING BACK TO
With the exception of 'Dumbo', this 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' is the book [from the Wonderful World of Disney book club] most likely to get a youngsters attention, repeatedly. Although this storybook can't compare with the incredible visual experience of Fantasia, it is so reminiscent of it that kids do seem to be drawn to it and often. Often enough for them to start reading it -- hopefully, after it has been read to them.
A GOOD BOOK SERIES - STILL AVAILABLE
This entire series is pretty good and still available from many sellers for a reasonable price. Many public libraries also have this and the other members of this series {'Disney's Wonderful World of Reading', club) available for loan.

What makes this book a great find is that it includes many songs for rides that have either been refurbished or altogether removed from the Walt Disney World Resort (ie - Spaceship Earth's "Tomorrow's Child" and Kitchen Kabaret's "Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit") Also, one of my favorite songs, "Golden Dream" from Epcot's American Adventure is also included! The songs are fairly simple to play (guitar chords are written in) for any experience level. I'm so glad I found this book and added it to my collection!

What makes this collection nice, is that it includes one song I haven't seen in the other Disney collections, "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day" (what a fabulous lie) which robots used to sing in this great ride that used to be at Disneyland called, the "Carousel of Progress." It's fun to look at the lyrics for Pirates of the Carribean, which advocate kidnapping and ravaging. I also marvel at the vocabulary and interesting imagry used to write "Grimm Grinning Ghosts." The Shermann Brothers could definitely not have written that one... You also get the lyrics the birds used to sing in the Tikki Room. (Has anyone noticed that they've seriously shortened the songs in that ride? All those brightly plumed harmonizers used to warble a lot longer than they do now...)
