My 3.5 yr old son loves this book. It tells a condensed version of the Finding Nemo story, and his favorite part is the last page where "Nemo loves his dad and his dad loves him." My son gives me (his dad) a special hug.

Fun for a beginning reader

Our son, age 4.5, loves reading this book. He feels like he's reading a real big boy book! Most of the words are basic, but there are enough words to tell a real story (based on the movie, of course). Many "Level 1 Readers" are really dull for adults and kids quickly outgrow them. This book's engaging pictures and plot keep us reaching for it over and over.

I was quite surprised when I saw the box arrive from Amazon. This book is probably 2 feet tall! The pictures are nice and big and it comes with princess stickers. My niece must have thanked me 5 times through out the day when I gave this to her for Christmas. She loves it!

Over 2 feet of fun and well worth the price

Unlike other "giant" or "jumbo" coloring books this one is tall rather than thick, which means the pages lie relatively flat when the book is open and are much easier to color on. The height and width of the pages are great too because they give little ones lots of surface area to color on (no more marks on the table).

The paper quality is much better than the usual newspaper-thin pages in most coloring books and it comes with its own carrying handle built into the sturdy spine. I gave this coloring book to my nieces aged 3 - 5 and they all love it!

Bottom line: pricey, but worth it. Larger-than-life size leaves a big impression and makes this a great gift.

Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 1995 is the only guide for Disney World you will ever need! This book has a lot of valuable information that you won't want to miss if you ever go to Disney World! I haven't gone to Disney World in quite some time and I like to read it just for fun. I have aquired quite a lot of important information in this book. I've been to Disney World four times and I find that everything in this book is true and it is still helpful to me even after I have been there so many times. I hope you decide to buy this book because if you don't you're missing out on a great book and lots of valuable information!

This was the book we used on our first visit to Walt Disney World. I purchased it because I remember listening to innumerable travel reviews by the late Steve Birnbaum on the radio. He was a well-informed and thoroughly dedicated individual with a pleasant personality. We would never have gotten around Walt Disney World without this book. If you have never been to Walt Disney World I recommend that you really get a copy of this book or the most current version of it. If you really enjoy Walt Disney World like we did you may want to hold on to your copy of this book. It is just as much a souvenir as anything else you may purchase on your visit. This book holds fond and cherished memories for my family.

Can't go wrong with Mickey!

Baby Mickey's Nap is a perfect time-to-nap book, in addition to being educational. This book introduces young'uns to words for how things feel - soft, itchy, etc. - and leaves plenty out for you to talk about later, after naptime! It's small enough for the youngest to hold and board book pages are so easy to turn for those readers who can't yet manage thin pages. And, of course, it's from Disney, so the illustrations are bright and attractive!

A Great Starter Book

Baby Mickey's Nap is a great beginning book for your little one. Made of durable, wipe off material, you won't have to worry about letting your little one 'messing up' the pages.
In this book Mickey is going to take a nap and is deciding what to sleep with. He thinks about his blocks, but they are too hard; or his duck, but it is too wet. In this work, children are encouraged to think about how things feel, to touch them and understand the different textures of the world they live in.
A real learning read. Recommended.

Great portrayal of the vintage Disney cartoon! Buy what you can!

It's too bad Disney doesn't show its short cartoons anymore. This book depicts the 1938 animated short of the same name. Cartoons these days are trash, and Disney isn't the same as it was when brothers Walt and Roy Disney were alive. Kids these days rarely see the good old cartoons. This and the other books in the Disney's Wonderful World of Reading series that portray the classic cartoons should be reprinted. They would be better than all the crummy new cartoons that air today.

Mickey Mouse the brave little tailor
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2003-11-08
This book tells the tale of how the brave tailor Mickey wins the hand of the beautiful Princess Minnie. The story all starts off with some flies and a giant. While the rest of the town is worrying about some giant, Mickey is busy sewing in his little tailor shop. He isn't worried about the giant, just annoyed by all the flies that are buzzing around his shop. So Mickey gets out his flyswatter and kills 7 flies in one blow. He is so proud of this achievement he cried out to two farmers on the street `I killed seven with one blow!' As the farmers were talking about the giant, they assumed Mickey had killed seven giants with one blow.

Through word of mouth news of this feat makes it all the way to the King, who seds for the tailor. First he asks how Mickey killed seven with one blow. After Mickey does a dramatic recital, the Kin g tells him, "Little tailor, if you will be my giant killer you may marry the princess." At this piece of news, Mickey gladly becomes the King's giant killer, even though he had no clue how to go about killing giants.

So Mickey goes out into the country and who else should happen to appear but the giant. After a daring fight on Mickey's part (that was more dodging the giants strikes) Mickey manages to get the giant all wrapped up in thread so that "he could not move. He could not even stand up. The giant fell down with a great crash!" This crash naturally brought all of the townspeople to the field, and Mickey got lauded as a great hero, as well as getting to marry Princess Minnie.

The pictures are bright, bold, colorful, cute, etc. Some of the best ones are when Mickey is brandishing his scissors to show to the King how he killed the flies. An interesting comment on the pictures is that while Mickey and Minnie are mice, all others in the story (all the townspeople, king, courtiers, etc.) are all people. Even the giant looks like a really big, normal person. I really like this story because of the cute pictures and the cute story line. The story itself is told in a simple straightforward way, as you might be able to tell from the quotes I included.

In this book, Michael Lassell delivers a remarkably balanced and intimate portrait of this fascinating Florida town. In all ways, Mr. Lassell's book is far superior to Ross's The Celebration Chronicles and Frantz and Collins's Celebration USA. The text and the scores of beautiful photographs capture the magic of the town and enable the reader to understand why Celebration is considered by many to be the most significant new town to be developed in the second half of the twentieth century.

What a GREAT book, from a super Movie!

First off, Chicken little is one of the best kids movies Disney has put out since Nemo!!
Both my kids 3 and 5 LOVE the movie and characters from this movie.
NOW this is my first TOKYOPOP Cine-manga book and I am already hooked!
It is like a book comic strip of the Whole movie!
Very colorful and bright. Pictures true to the movie, in fact obvioulsy taken from the movie.
This book is a great addition to bedtime reading as well as letting my 5 year old look through it himself and relive the movie on his won terms.
Cant wait to add more Disney- Tokyopop Cine-manga books to our library.
Purchased at walmart for a much better price.

Excellent Book Based On The Movie

For months, my husband and son were eager to see Chicken Little at the theater. Having seen the previews, I just wasn't thrilled at the prospect of seeing this particular movie for some reason.

I accompanied my family to the theater to see Chicken Little and was VERY surprised at just how good it was!

My 7 year old son loved the movie, so when he saw Disney's Read Aloud Storybook Chicken Little in the bookstore he exclaimed "Mama! I want this book!" He excitedly took a seat in the bookstore, engrossed in the pages of his new find.

As a Mom who encourages her son to read, I of course bought him the book! But not after taking a hard look at it first. Not all "based on the movie" books are that great, in all honesty.

However, this Disney version passed muster quite easily. It's a hardback book with a glossy cover and is about 8 X 10 in size. Surprisingly, there are 64 colorful pages to Chicken Little. The pages aren't CGI stills of the movie (think Madagascar) but rather are beautifully rendered paintings based on various scenes.

The story is divided into three sections: A Chicken With A Past, The Sky Falls Again, and Family Matters. A Chicken With A Past includes scenes such as Chicken Little being pelted with acorns by the kids on the bus (including Foxy Loxy), Little catching a ride with a sticky lollipop (remember the gum on the street scene?), the sprinkler fiasco in the gym, the big baseball game, and more.

The Sky Falls Again section depicts the strange panel that falls in Little's room, Fish being caught in the space ship, various scenes from within the ship, the whole town gathering at the ball field, and the orange fuzzy alien that was left behind.

Family Matters begins with Little's Dad apologizing to people on the phone the next day and shows the alien "invasion", Little's smooch with Abby Mallard, the meeting with the alien Mom and Dad, the movie "Chicken Little: The True Story" (Ha!) and more.

Despite being 60+ pages, it's not an overly long book so it's a great bed time story. It's not short, though, either. It's a great mix of text and colorful pictures in my opinion. The font is a nice size, too.

My son LOVES this book and asks my husband and me to read it all the time. In fact, he's working on what he calls "Chicken Little II" where he takes elements from the book, changes them, and then re-draws them on blank paper.

Sturdy, engaging, and beautifully rendered, Disney's Chicken Little Read Aloud Storybook is a wonderful book for young fans of the movie. This would make an excellent holiday gift, too!
