Walt Disney's 101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians is a very good book. Its about 15 puppies that get kidnapped by a cruel Cruella Di Vil. They are tooken to her mansion where there were a lot more dalmatians. They then go through a lot of trouble getting home. I think that any age of kids would like this book. I really like how Pongo and Perdita save there kids. I think that this book teaches kids that if they steal that bad things will happen.

Great adaption of the movie, beautifully illustrated!

No way to explain what a delight these were. The huge surprise was to find out some of these are the artist's sketches. What a total treasure. I have never been so happy with a set of postcards before. These are a collector's item and now I find myself not wanting to send them out.

When I bought this, I was expecting them as the description states, coiled and in a box. When they arrived, to my suprise, they are not coil bound at all, but each postcard is loose and kept inside the box. This was great, as I was planning on putting some of these in frames around the house anyways.

The price....let me tell you, they are worth it. If you work it out, thats about 17¢ each, where most generic postcards go for $1 or more. The artwork covers all the features and shorts from Pixar to date, including their upcoming feature Cars.

After showing these to my animation collegues, they agree, this is one purchase you cannot be without if you are a lover of Pixar's work.

Great bargain!!

This was a great set of postcards, real high quality paper stock. My intention was to use them to mail to my nephew away at school, but once my kids saw the cards, they all took some for their walls to hang. With 100 cards there is plenty to go around. My favorite is the old man from the toy story shorts...

Very nice color pictures in this book and good information about shore excursions. I like that this book is small and, although it does have some good information, isn't loaded with details. This makes it nice to use for getting excited about going on your cruise or if you don't have much time to read. After reading it, pass it along to your teen to read.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants some good information quickly or to use with the PassPorter's Field Guide.

As a fan & avid user of the Birnbaum books about Disney theme parks, I was delighted to see this version about the Disney Cruise Line. The book is excellent and has outlined every last detail of the DCL experience.
I am embarking on my 5th cruise on the Magic in October so much of the info was familiar to me. I can highly recommend it to both returning cruisers and first timers alike.
The photos are wonderful and help get you ready for the trip.
The only missing piece, I believe, is a diagram of the ship.
First timers would find that heplful for getting hamiliar with the layout, locating staterooms, restaurants etc before actually boarding.

I have been buying Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for 12 years even though we only go to Disney World every 2-4 years. For months before we go, I highlight everything we want to see and do in Disney. It's also great to go back to my old books to see how much has changed.
I would highly recommend Birnbaum's Disney Cruise Line book also.

I used the book to plan my family's first trip to Disneyland Resort. Lots of information on :best time to go, where to stay, info on admission options, description of rides/attractions/shopping, etc... it helped me plan what my family really wanted to see and answered all of my questions about Disneyland and California Adventure. There is also info on attractions outside of Anaheim that would be helpful. Very informative without strongly voiced opinions..

Just like mboothby, I also buy this every year at Christmas and have a good read. It helps me remember the time I've spent there with my family, and the descriptions of the attractions are always a blast to read. The information is great (as if I didn't already have it memorized) and completely accurate. Very good insight for an "official" guide. This is highly recommended for anyone planning either their first trip or their 10th.

Cinderella is, in my opinion, the all-time favorite classic Disney story for little girls. There's got to be a reason why there are so many grown-up books and movies referred to as "Cindarella stories!"

This is a good, short adaptation of the Disney movie version of the classic "Cinderella" story. Keeps some of the new characters that the Disney crew created, including Lucifer the cat and the mice that Cinderella protects. Touches on all the main points of the movie, and sticks pretty closely to the movie's plotline. Perfect tool for encouraging kids who like the movie to also pick up a book and read.

Don Hahn had an amazing way to get his message across. He told funny stories about his life, discussed interesting things about the world and supplied inspirational motivation by a subtle means (not cramming it down your throat or preaching it).

This book really shows you that caring for your creative soul is just part of the balance of life that we all can't neglect. It not only deepens our talents but provides an introspective look at who you are and what the definition of your self you are trying to hold yourself to.

And even if you don't see or get what I just mentioned, it will give you a few laughs and some good quotes.

Written by one of the animators on Disney's Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, this is a wild and crazy look at the life of creativity. Hahn's joy in living and creating leaps from every page.

But along with the humor, the book is full of solid advice on creativity. He talks about the scariness of taking risks, the frustration that can come when things aren't going right, the downright hard work of making a dream come true, and the amazing thrill when it all happens the way you dreamed it would.

Packed with illustrations from Hahn's life (the dancing corn dogs are from an ad for the refreshment stand at a drive-in), humor, and inspiration, this is an inspirational read in the sense that it will inspire you to get up and get going to something creative. This is a great book!

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

Hints of Something Darker

In my opinion the best part of this story is the glimpse the author gives us of a dark "Event" in the dimly remembered fairyland past. Who is the Great Enemy that attacked the fairies? What was the destructive power that shattered the ancient tree? Where is this Enemy now? Why do they still fear him/her/it? Why is there still a cloud of pixie dust North of Neverland?

Will we find out more in later novels? I hope so.

Later when it is time for stories Terrence usually sits with her and he didn't. That night she went on a daring quest to find something to make it up to him. She meets up with her old friends Peter and the Lost Boys! She returns home safely and learns a lesson.

Focused on the concept of regret, this lovely story involves Tinker Bell and her friend Terence, the sparrow man. Terence has a crush on the fairy, and Tink likes him, too. But one morning when Terence tries to help Tink, he ends up breaking her favorite bowl. She blows up at him and tells him to leave her alone. Stung, he leaves, vowing to never bother Tinker Bell again.

The water fairy Silvermist cheers Terence up by showing him how to water-skate with special lily-pad-skimmer sandals. Tink sees the couple on the water and waves, but Terence keeps his promise and doesn't respond. All day Tink finds herself missing Terence, and feeling lonely, and angry, when she sees him with the other girls.

To win him back, Tink heads north of Never Land to find him a special gift: some rare pixie dust. She travels in a fairy version of a hot-air balloon. Her adventures include encounters with a possum, mermaids and a tiger.

At the end, Tink tells Terence she regrets yelling at him, and the two make up.

Like the other books in this series, "Tink, North of Never Land" is illustrated with dainty watercolors, and the front cover features a portrait of its heroine sprinkled with sparkly fairy dust.

By the way, the reading level of this book is 2.7.

I first read these stories as a child when they came out in Disney comic books and I've never forgotten them. My friends and I would check out the latest Disney comics to see if the Donald and Scrooge stories were drawn by the "good duck artist" and only buy the comic books if they were. Of course Carl Barks was uncredited, so we never knew the "good duck artist's" name, but his drawings and his humor were unmistakable. Barks was one of the most talented cartoonists of his time, and his stories -- they're really quests, often based on ancient myths -- are always delightful and have stood the test of time. A wonderful gift for any child (or grown-up) who likes good graphic story-telling.

This is great stuff... It's hard to beat these old, classic Carl Barks "Donald Duck" stories for their sheer entertainment value and craftsmanship, and for their family-friendly content. My kid recently expressed an interest in comic books, and I was dismayed to find out how little there is out there for really little kids to read... The old Harvey stuff is no longer on the market (and was way too dumb, anyway) and the superhero books I grew up on are just too violent, even reprints of the older stuff. The comicbook industry has grown up along with its readers, but it unfortunately forgot to leave some room for younger readers to enjoy the medium as well. Thank goodness, then, for these Disney reprints from Gladstone publishers -- if you're looking for kid-friendly comics that won't insult your intelligence, this is one of your best bets. It's nice to have these two low price collections of those of Carl Barks duck comics from the 1950s that were adapted into the "Ducktales" cartoon series in the 90s. Carl Barks is one of the greatest comic book creators of all time, he's up there with Will Eisner, Osamu Tezuka, Jack kirby and Hergé. For some strange reason his stuff isn't as well known in the english speaking part of the world as in Scandinavia and Germany - over there he's considered one of the greatest storytellers of the 20th century, and his stories have been as popular with generations of kids as the Harry Potter books are now. Barks wrote and drew 6.000 pages of duck stories, so this is only a small taste of his storytelling talents. The longer adventure strips collected in these books were one of the main influences on the Indiana Jones movies. His shorter 10 page stories set in Duckburg (not included here) are an obvious influence on the humour and storytelling in The Simpsons.
