A welcome introduction
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.

For those wishing to study military history, either seriously or for their own benefit this is a great work to start with. A chronological by subject discussion and listing of the principle texts of military history in the english language. While this could use an update to cover more recent history, you will find nothing better or more recent available to you. This book is not only informative, but readable as well. It is also great for those with some knowledge of military history who wish to branch out into other areas of the field.

The Title is Misleading
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-20
This is an absolutely excellent book for the area it covers, but the title is misleading. It purports to cover the entire Northwest, when in fact it only covers a few counties in Oregon and Washington west of the Cascade Mountains. I'll keep the book because one of the counties covered is where I was born, and I'm already fairly familiar with the plants there, but I was looking for a book that would cover the whole Pacific Northwest, so I'm pretty disappointed. If I'd known before I bought it that the coverage was so limited, I wouldn't have bought it. Still, I gave it five stars, because for the area it covers (Lane County, Oregon, to just north of Seattle) it is probably the best book you can buy.

Air Group 60, (F6F Hellcats, TBM torpedo bombers, and SBD dive bombers), served on the USS Suwanee CVE 27, one of 85 "small" excort carriers which carried much of the load of naval air warfare, but whose contributions are relatively unknown. From Kwajalein to the Philippines, Suwanee and Air Group 60 were in the thick of it, setting the record for continuous combat days; winning Presidential Unit Citations and many battle stars. Photos, maps, rosters, the roll of honor for the Air Group, and Sunflower University Press' usual excellent index.

It groups the trails by regions at the beginning of the book and then checks all the features that the area contains...restrooms, pet-friendly, etc. It also indicates the trails that you should not miss if you want to see the best Florida has to offer. We have found it the best guide to date.
