It is refreshing to see new artist as they emerge. This book features 12 new Portland artist, each bold and exciting in their individual styles. The compactness of the book gives the observer an opportunity to really study and compare each artist. It is a wonderful and affordable way to keep up with contemporary art. Thank you for publishing such a book that make new artists accessible to all.

What a read. The younger set will no doubt flock to the library shelves for this human account of a truly impressive woman. Did you know that Virginia Meachum won an ALA award for this book? Get thee to a bookseller and read Janet Reno!

It is perhaps not hard to accept the solitude of Kafka the writer after wandering the labyrinthine streets of Prague and other locales in his works. Kafka the individual for the reader is as elusive as is the truth for any of the stories' protagonists. This short biography explains much of the background for Kafka's absurdist, surreal, desperate writing, and, drawing upon the artist's background and creative experiences, paints a vivid picture to aid the casual reader and literary critic alike.

I found this book very intriguing. I wish the author to keep going on writing other intriguing books ike this.

Some travel writers become overnight experts when they "parachute" into unfamiliar county. Author Jim Moore, former editor of the Tahoe Daily Tribune, is the antithesis of this. He's as close to his mountainous beat as the moss is to the north side of its biggest trees. You're in skilled, safe, knowledgeable hands when you have this guide on the car seat or in your backpack. Moore's no slouch, either, when it comes to steering you to restaurants that serve man-sized portions, saloons that pour honest shots, or Sierra waters where the trophy trout lurk.

Lawrence Reno's book about the life and times of Nathaniel Hale Pryor is an important book. It does what it says--tells about the life AND TIMES surrounding this enigmatic Lewis and Clark Expedition figure.

The book is well-written, well illustrated, and well documented. As an amateur historian of people and events of this early 1800's period, and a writer also (whose mother's maiden name was Pryor), I can appreciate how well Reno has completed his mission. He has tackled difficult questions and answered them well and responsibly. I suspect this is due to the disciplines of Reno's legal training.

It is a fun book and not a dry history for those who are interested in this period. I do not completely agree with all of Reno's conclusions but I see they are well-founded and I respect Reno for his depth of research.

Perhaps I am biased because He was my Great Uncle but if you would like to read about a true American Hero read it and then decide for yourself
I'm sure it will give you a new appreceation for the name of "The biggest little city in the world"
