This book is excellent in helping any high school student rewiew for the NYS Bio regents exam. The explainations are consice and clear and to covers all topic areas that are on the test. I highly reccomend it as a study guide/test prep.

I thought I was going to fail the Sequential Math III Regents terribly in March. I found this book, read it thoroughly, and got passed the regents knowing things I never thought I'd be able to learn in the short time I had. This book gives you a cut and dry explanation of every major topic covered in the course, with great example problems. If you have trouble with your teacher, the subject, or math in general, this book is a life-saver!

Towards the end of the nineteenth century fundamental changes in being a Jew in Europe were under way. There was a movement within the German Jewish intellectuals that began to integrate more closely with the non-Jewish society. As with all times of change, this was a time of confusion as the changes filtered through Jewish society. And this change was reflected in the plays that were being written, in Yiddish of course.

This book is both a new translation of some of these plays, and a critical analysis of these plays in conjunction with the history of those times. Surprisingly the plays, now available in English for the first time show a freshness and timelessness that is surprising in the light of all that has gone on since.

This is a welcome addition to modern Jewish literature as befits the SUNY series in Modern Jewish Literature and Culture.

I can't tell you how inspired I was to read this brilliant piece of scholarly discourse. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this masterful cliffhanger of a thesis. I have been profoundly affected by the insightful findings of this research and forever indebted to this dedicated and selfless researcher!

You simply don't have time to go around to all the schools your kid might be planning to attend. And if you did, it isn't ckear that you'd know just what questions to ask. Clara Hemphill does know. As the director of Insideschools.org she has spent years analyzing the public school system in NYC. She looks at the schools academically (of course) but also in other aspects such as friendliness, willingness of the teaching staff to work with the kids individually, social development and many more.

Note the title, this book discusses the BEST schools. And New York's best are very good indeed. These are not the warehouses where the kids are just putting in time. These are the places you would want your kid to go.

An excellent combination of essays covering the spectrum of differing views on postmodernity, which is described in the book to be an important shift in the western culture comparable with the Renaissance. The preface material at the start of each part of the book does a great job of preparing the lay reader for the overall argument in the essays that follow. A warning though, many of the essays require some familiarity with basic "traditional" philosophical ideas and terms.
