This book is full of age-appropriate activities for P.E. teachers to use. I have used it in my student teaching at the University of Arizona and plan to use it while teaching. It contains all the areas of a good lesson: intro activity, fitness, game skills, and closing. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

This book is an excellent resource for those who would like to introduce a rhythmic program to their school or gymnastics club. The book covers everything from equipment(it even shows you how to make your own ribbon and stick) to the different kinds of body movements included in rhythmic gymnastics. Basic apparatus work is illustrated for all the five apparatus: rope, ball, hoop, ribbon, and clubs. There is also a section which covers the stretches and conditioning exercises helpful to rhythmic gymnasts. Nearly 150 photographs and illustrations help make this an excellent tool for teachers.

Haley Arthur overhears her beloved skating coach, Kathy Bart, making plans to be with her friend Amy, who tours with the Ice Follies. Oh no! Is Kathy leaving Silver Blades forever? Haley and Co. are finding out! Meanwhile, Haley's partner Patrick has hurt his ankle and is on the grumpy side. To cheer him up, Haley and her friends plan a party for him. But Patrick thinks they're discussing something that he can't hear, and gets mad. Poor Haley! She has so many problems! Some hysterically funny moments. A must read for anyone.

Back and forth - back and forth. One year it's OU, the next it is Texas. This football series is fantastic and this title really lays it all out there. If you love UT or OU, get this book. You may also want to check out: UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA FOOTBALL: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports (Sports By the Numbers). If you love OU football, you will love both these books.

If you run, you need this book. The information in this book is applicable to absolute beginners as well as elites. Noakes teaches how to prevent injuries and treat them.
Most of the topics are covered in Lore of Running - If you already have that book, there is no need to buy this one.
The only drawback in this book is that the illustrations and photographs could have been better.

This is an excellent, inspirational book for anybody considering getting into running or even for established runners looking for guidance - it covers the complete range from complete beginner to serious athlete. There is sensible, non technical information on health diet, clothing, competing (or not) track running, road running, cross country, marathon as well as a variety of running programmes you can follow. At time of writing, I have been running for 7 months (to get fit) and regularly re-read parts of this book. The book ensures that you avoid "pitfalls" and helps you to make genuine progress. It is one of the best presents my wife has bought me this year.

To be honest, besides wanting to get into shape through racewalking, I bought the book because of William Finley, the co-author. Why? Go rent Brian DePalma's 1975 movie, The Phantom of the Paradise, which Mr. Finley starred in. He was fantastic in that movie as the Phantom, and equally as wonderful as an author that introduced me to the sport of racewalking.
