If you watched Firefly, then odds are you loved Firefly. And if that's the case, then you need the Firefly: The Official Companion books. When I first opened this book (on Valentine's Day night...it was a present from my wife), I couldn't stop turning pages. I flipped through the whole thing, oohing and aahhing over all the images an extras. This book is packed with bonus material any Firefly lover will adore. You get prop details, cast and crew reminiscing, insight on the making of the first half of the episodes on the Firefly DVDs, and enough shiny memories to make you want to pop in an episode or three. Needless to say, a chunk of my romantic Valentine's Day dinner was lost to this book. Don't make the same mistake; order your copy well before the next romantic holiday.

I loved this book. I was initially just expecting some behind the scenes photos, still photos, cast interviews, Joss talking about the show, etc. Then I find out that the book contains the shooting scripts for the first six episodes, and it almost brought a tear to my eye. I loved everything about it, and defiintely plan to pick up the second volume. Shiny!
Good show companion.

Good companion for the TV show. If only the show would have lasted longer! Anyhow, this is a good guide and well worth it for any Firefly fan.

And when the rest of my geek friends come over for dinner and drinks we always have something to talk about.
Absolutly everything about Firefly that you could possibly want Transcripts of all the episodes and explanations of other things like "What the heck is 80 platenium in real montitary value" and "How big is the Firefly universe(solar system) exactly?"
All Browncoats should consider getting this.

Basically just the scripts -- not what I expected.

Just to let future buyers be aware....this book (and Vol. 2) are basically just the scripts to the (REALLY FUN) shows. As my husband put it, "It's just the lines, without the wonderful delivery the actors achieved in the shows." I thought it would be more like the various other "about" books that exist about popular movies/TV shows - full of pictures and other fun "about" stuff. In my opinion, these two books were not that.

This marvelous book came into my life almost twenty years ago and remains my favorite book to this day. I have reread many sections many times, and even with the advances in science that have arisen since the publication of this book, it remains deeply informative and philosophically rewarding. For all those who seek to investigate life on earth from its many facets, this is a book to treasure. I only wish Guy Murchie had lived long enough for me to thank him personally!
still timely

Murchie's grasp of the topics and his fluid writing make this an enjoable adventure into our world and ourselves. A little science, a little philosophy come together to help the reader evaluate his/her place in the cosmos.

This book is a lyrical synthesis of science, philosophy, and religious traditions that could only be authored by a visionary & poetic personality of the highest caliber. Guy Murchie spent seventeen years pulling this 650 page book together; and the labor of love & dedication really shows through the entire text - his erudition is vast, yet completely accessible.
The Seven Mysteries of Life is structured as a triad: Body, Mind, and the Seven Mysteries. In this non-linear exploration of the fabric of existence, Murchie weaves and interconnects the evolutionary immensity of the universe such that, in the concluding chapter, the purpose of our lives on this earth is convincingly described as a soul-school (a spiritual boot camp I suppose).
Not only does Murchie elaborate on our accumulated knowledge of life, world, and universe; he crystallizes it all into little gems of wisdom. This book might be looked at as if it were a unification theory of mystery and existence; its incredibly comprehensive scope will certainly alter the way you look at the reasons for your existence.
Infinite thanks to Guy Murchie for this vastly generous labor of a lifetime . . .

I searched for a book like this one day, and on that day, the first day found this book. And I dont think I could have found a better book in years of searching. Fate brought this book to me.
This book explains the physical and spiritual worlds together as a flowing entity. I have never read a more enticing book about scientific explaination mixed with spiritual exploration.
My life was changed by this book, and I am more than happy by what I learned reading it. The things I'd like to say about this book can not all be described in one review.

My son is a philosophy student at Duke and insisted I read this book. Of course, I resisted diving into a 650 page book, but I have to admit that it was facinating.
As a former science student (zoology and dentistry), we often do a little "recreational arguing," but this book really ties alot of things together.
No, it won't answer all of lifes questions, but it sure will make you think about a lot of coincidences.
Skip around, read the sections that interest you, go back to some chapters.
Great, great book.

When this book first was published, the Hotel Technology department head inadvertently had the college library purchase this book for the department. When it arrived we laughed hysterically about it, and many times, I have laughed about it ever since.
Two years ago, I ordered a copy for the library where I am currently a Children's Librarian. It did not even make it to the "stacks", someone
liked it so much they "permanently borrowed" it.
If you need a good laugh...!

The 41st Century is full of mysteries. Like what happened to Ancient Yankees who lived in North America? Why did they die out and how did they live. One day a tomb, untouched, is found and it gives us a glimpse of what these Ancient Yankees were like in the 20th Century. Sacred items, musical instruments, and the sacred point will make you laugh and wonder how much of OUR knowledge is based on such conclusions?

Everyday items are seen in the light of future archeologists, with interesting, funny and sometimes insightful interpretations. Good book to share with others.

My students are looking at ancient cultures and what a great book to start with. We learn about making inferences from observation and our own prior knowledge. This book is great on teaching this.

Absolutely enjoyable, all age readership done with genuine style and that utterly necessary dose of humor so lacking in our modern world. Motel of the Mysteries truly does show what happens when we, the "modern" researchers, imprint our beliefs and values on a prior culture. It is most definitely worth reading. I bought several copies for my friends.

Oh, My Gosh...Better and Better...the woman has a gift and I have yet to be disappointed by her historical/romance novels. Once I start reading I can't put it down. Reading this novel I found myself LOL, crying and becoming outraged at the injustice our people had to endure.~~~~~~~Grace had all the characteristic I hope for in a heroine. She was smart, brave, independent and very out-spoken. Her character only improved as the story moved forward. Jackson was also everything a hero should be, handsome, smart, brave, proud and strong, yet very loving. The secondary characters only added more intrigue and interest to this amazing tale and I hope to read more about some of them in future novels.~~~~~~~The instant chemistry between Grace and Jackson was definitely very sensual. Their heated passion only grew HOTTER and more intense as the story progressed, which made for a great read.~~~~~~~Once again, Ms. Jenkins has painted an AMAZINGLY vivid and historically accurate picture of the time period. She has eloquently spun a very romantic love story as well as a much needed and very valuable history lesson. I will Always and Forever be a BIG fan!

This is the first book I read by Beverly Jenkins and I must say I became an INSTANT fan! Ms. Jenkins knows her history and she writes about it in a way that makes the reader yearn to know more. Not only are her books historically sound, the characters leap off the page...I felt like I knew them personally. You can always tell a story is well written when you miss the characters after you have finished reading the book. I have read nearly all of her books (2 more to go), but THIS one is still the front runner...Beverly what would we do without YOU?

Jackson Blake, the man in black, was sexy, strong, revenge seeking and putty in Grace Atwood's hands. Grace was sassy, strong, independent and the only woman for Jackson. However, it took a while for them to stop fighting their feelings and realize the effect that they had on each other.
"Always and Forever" is classic Beverly Jenkins, historically wonderful and told with passion and breathtaking love scenes. I can't say enough about her books. She is the queen of historical romances. Buy them, enjoy them!!

This is one of the best romance books that I have ever had the pleasure to read. Grace had every characteristic that I look for in a heroine. She was smart, brave, independent and she only got as better as the book progressed. Jackson was everything a hero she be; smart, brave, strong and loving.
The chemistry between Grace and Jackson was instantaneous and only kept getting better and better as the story progessed.
Ms. Jenkins painted a vivid and historically accurate picture of
the time period. In history books we never hear about all Black wagon trains heading west or all Black towns. Ms. Jenkins has given us a wonderful love story as well as a valuable history lesson.
The wagon train sub plot was a perfect background for the romanace between Jackson and Grace.
I highly recommend this book.
