This short, accessible book is written by the person who was most influencial in changing Australia's drug policy and opening supervised injection sites. This book covers (briefly) all the main issues, and for those who want a overview it is a great read.

This book is both instructive and enjoyable at the same time. It contains useful information on the history of not only architecture but also on the social life in modern Turkey. Readers will enjoy the rare collection of numerous pictures and photos that are difficult to find elsewhere. It is a wonderful resource for not only Turkish people and for architects, but also for all foreigners who are interested in this country. Following the Independence War and the establishment of the Republic, a new and modern nation was built on the ruins of The Ottoman Empire and this book tells us how this was achieved.

I was intrigued with the new Taj Mahal discoveries focused upon in this book. The Moonlight Garden shows that the land across the Jumna River from the Taj had been an integral part of the famous mausoleum's overall design. This book is factual and fully illusrated with photographs, drawings, and Mughal miniature paintings to help with explanations. Very helpful to me for my writing.

This is a solid book about this artists work. Good image production and selection for what might otherwise be considered a small volume.

Over the past 40 years I have returned to this work again and again. I have lectured on it and referred a lifetime of students to it. To learn that there were peoples who saw mountains as hideous scars marring the face of the sacred never failed to inspire reflection upon the too easily digested metaphor.

This book is my favorite book. I remember the first time that I read it. I would have to get up from my desk, walk around my apartment, and digest what I was reading. It was so exciting.
Nicolson brings together Theology, History of Science and Geology, and Aesthetics in such a beautiful way. She describes what was an important change in western thinking about nature that occured at the end of the seventeenth century.
Ignore, William Cranon's introduction that ties Nicolson's work to today's ecocriticism. But find and read other works that study nature and culture; Clarance Glacken's Traces on the Rhodian Shore (1967), Arthur O. Lovejoy's The Great Chain of Being (1936), and Leo Marx's The Machine in the Garden (1964).

Fabulous Henry Kaiser or Kaiser Henry the Sordid.

Mr. Adams remarkable book exposes H. Kaiser as a sociopath, war profiteer, and con-man. Reading his treatment of workers at Boulder Dam in the early 1930s where 110 people died, cases of carbon monixide poisoning and heat exhaustion written off as 'non-industrial' by (guess who)Sidney Garfield, the project's medical director. kaiser lost 100 claims by workers, settled out of court, that shook kaiser awake that he is not above decency and morality, that the 'rules' actually applied to him in the only way he could understand: monetarily. Out of this sordid, disgusting begining came Kaiser 'Permanente', and its step-child managed care.

Mr Morgan did a great job on this book. It is very well researched and contains a great deal of detail not only on the St Paul and Tacoma Lumber company, but on the lives and personalities of the men who started and ran the company.
The chapters follow a natural flow of history and are emensely enhanced with lots of old photographs of the company and the Tacoma area.
Whether you are doing research on Tacoma, the lumber industry or you just like reading about history, this is a northwest classic. I intend to order my own copy and will probably read it several times.
Great job, Mr. Morgan!
