An original and sophisticated contribution to intellectual history written in a clear, and attractive style by one of the greatest modern historians. To my opinion, Frankel's study is the most outstandig work ever written on the historical outline of French Enlightenment. The fifth chapter in which he is dealing those, who like Rousseau, protested against the rationalist analytic method, is really a masterpiece.

With an increasing interest in women's poetry and also asian styles of poetry (haiku, tanka, sijo, haibun), I was amazed to find only one review for this wonderful collection of 400 haiku by 20 women poets from the 17th century to the present. Each poet has a brief biography followed by an assortment of her haiku. Makoto Ueda does a wonderful job of compiling and translating the poems and the introduction alone makes the book a worthwhile addition to any library.

This is an excellent recounting of the changes in a rural society from the Revolutionary era to the antebellum era. Bruegel very skillfully combines economic and social change. Mining newspapers, diaries, farmers' account ledgers, and a variety of other primary and secondary sources, the author provides many examples of the interaction and response of the region's inhabitants to the changing world around them. This is the type of book history teachers and students should be reading!

Volume 2, Sites Within a Day's Drive of Vancouver is the most detailed field guide available for gold, gemstone and mineral hunters in this area. We found the detailed maps and generous Latitude and Longtitude references very helpful. When inputting this information into our GPS we have easily located the sites mentioned in this book. Highly recommended.

Bourdieu's analyses of class, taste and culture are seminal and serve as a framework for deeper examination of the embeddedness of class structure in the choices of individuals.

It is a great pity that this book is currently out of print. It is the most helpful and thorough "how-to" book for basso continuo accompaniment that I have seen. As well as giving many graded examples and exercises from original sources, Williams includes notes on style and interpretation, which are a great help. I would recommend this book to anyone who is studying harpsichord.

This book is a collection of essays from leading academics/researchers in finance. It is obvious that the authors write on topics where they have made significant contributions. All significant topics in finance are discussed in this book. However, the essays are brief and are intended for interemediate students.

This book is a must-read for anyone with an interest in elections and democratic governance. There has been much talk about the role of money in elections and the impact of campaign contributions on how politicians govern. But rarely do we hear about the people behind the money. Who are they? Why do they give? To whom do they give? How much access do they have to members of Congress? These questions are answered in this well-written and well-researched book.

The book was great it had a lot of information. It gave a lot of insight into the process of aging and the help that elders may need and what the nurse needes to know.

Although I have not read all of this book I am fascinated by it. It has provided me with with an excellent overview of native education in Canada as well as the disparities that exist between "Western" and "Aboriginal" education.

A must have for anyone teaching in a native setting. Especially if he or she is from a different culture.
