Embedded Networking with CAN and CANopen has been the standard work on CANopen for years and it is great that is has been re-published (the previous publisher went out of business). I learned everything I needed to know about CANopen from this book. It is very thorough on the basics of, for instance, the CANopen Object Dictionary, Electronics Data Sheets, Data Transfer Objects, Network Management, and more. It was also a great help with understanding the CANopen Device Profiles, which is a frustrating task when you look only at the CiA (CAN-in-Automation) standards. And even now, that I deem myself a CANopen expert, I still use the book for references. This is a great book and a must-have for everybody involved with the CANopen protocol!

Have you wanted to learn more about the Bible but aren't sure where to begin? "The Essential Bible" by Rev. John Trigilio Jr. , Ph.D.,Th.D. and Rev. Kenneth Brighenti, Ph.D. is a wonderful place to start.

The authors begin by discussing what the Bible is and how it came to be, even explaining where the terms "Bible" and "Scripture" come from. They also talk about the role that both oral and written tradition played in forming the holy book and how the books that make up our current Bible were decided upon. Different understandings of divine revelation are explained as are the terms "inspired" and "inerrant." The authors also compare and contrast different versions of the Bible and discuss what you should look for in choosing a Biblical translation.

The second half of "The Essential Bible" goes through the books of the Bible one by one, explaining the background of each book and the major characters and events that come into play. It provides a great overview of the scriptural experience, thereby allowing you to then read an individual book of the Bible with greater knowledge of how that one part fits into the whole.

One of the best features of "The Essential Bible" are the little highlighted facts which are designated as an "Essential E" or an "E Fact." They provide important information in an easy-to-comprehend format. One thing about studying the Bible is that there is always more to learn. Whether you are a beginner in exploring the Bible or have been reading it for years, you will find something new and informative in "The Essential Bible" to enhance your experience of scripture.

An authoritative reference / textbook containing "thumbnails" of applicable evaluation theory and practice by experts in the field.

Exploring Media Culture: A Guide is one of the most modern and interesting text books I have been required to read throughout my college career. I was lucky enough to have the author as a professor for a communications class, and his brilliance and marvelous experiences are reflected throughout this very-well written, extensive, and informative book.

I am an ophthalmologist in private practice, and I keep a copy of this book in my waiting room. It is probably the most popular bit of reading material there- especially for those with an interest in the interface between art and the visual sciences. I strongly recommend it.

There are simply no decent fashion books that don't skip over the late 15th century, save this one. The artwork is beautiful and you can see how all the pieces of the outfit go together (you can tell where a doublet ends and a houppeland begins. There's a funny error on the front cover, where someone cut away too much of an outfit before placing it on the doll, but that shouldn't stop you fro getting things right. There are fewer rippable details, like arms or jewelry like on other dolls, but the paper is still very thing and the tabs are still very flimsy, like all paper dolls from this brand.

I am really impressed with "Get Your Career on the Fast Track." I have a Masters of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and can say that I have never, ever seen a more concise book on helping people with their careers. The author, Michelle Casto, PhD, designed this book to empower the reader to use "self-awareness, active reflection, and intuitive guidance," in the career decision-making process. These aren't tools that we are all naturally gifted with, so she shows us how to learn about ourselves so that we can develop them. This involves reading, completing assignments and journaling. In addition to providing a great deal of self-reflection, the activities and journal assignments are fun to do. Everything that you need is in this book.

The typical books that help you find jobs tend to simply address the steps of finding a job. They offer interviewing tips and resume samples. Casto takes you beyond that and teaches you how to find a fulfilling career. This is perfect for both people who are starting out and for people who are looking for a change in employment. There is not one area of work that is not covered in this book. Casto describes the different types of people that you might either be working with or be getting interviewed by. She also defines the different types of work environments out there.

"Get Your Career on the Fast Track" should be required reading for college students. It would be an excellent textbook for personal-development courses. I really enjoyed reading it. Unless you are retired and have no plans to do anything, I highly recommend this book for everyone. It would make the perfect graduation gift.
