I had to read this book for a class in my first year of college. I wasn't looking foward to it but the book suprised me!!! it was amazing. i highly recomend it. i read it with in days. just a book you cant put down.

That this book was published in 1991 didn't detract in the least from its usefulness in providing much greater insight for the areas we explored in Oregon. The book far exceeded my expectations. It provided remarkably detailed descriptions of historical characters and events. Very entertaining read.

Not the fascinating read of Roland Huntfords book about the South Pole but still very interesting. Really comes alive when he writes about the Native folks they lived with. Do wish the picture reproduction was better.

It was the second in 2 books. i didnt really liek the begining but i enjoyed the book more than anything. i started out reading this book in freshamn year of college because it was assigned to us because my teacher knew the writer. and it was amazing.

I find it very unfortunate that writers like Kevin C. Wilson can fly for so long under the radar. The writing in "The Route" is superb, and it's a real shame that this was never picked up by a major publisher. The story follows Peter Foster in his day-to-day struggles to find a place to sleep and a few dollars for cigarettes and food, all of which are distractions from his real goal of getting his screenplay turned into a movie. "The Route" is humorous but bittersweet, reminding me simultaneously of books by Jack Kerouac, Kurt Vonnegut, and the films of Wes Anderson, in which there are many nonsequitors but within the characters' world, everything seems to make sense.

Take some time to put aside the established writers from the major publishing houses, and give Kevin Wilson a chance--you won't regret it.

Though now a bit dated, this account still provides a clear picture of the salmon life cycle, the history of human exploitation, the difficulties posed by human-created obstacles and the methods scientists use to learn more about salmon. The language is clear, direct, and somewhat effective in conveying the emotional side of the story to young readers. This is especially important on the West Coast, where so many people are affected by the salmon's welfare, or lack thereof. The illustrations add considerable information, and an index and bibliography add to the text's usefulness.
