Have never made anything from this book that was bad. It is written by the KC Junior League and I am not a member and know no members. Give as gift all the time along with the Southern Living Cookbook. This one has a little fancier food that make you look like Martha Stewart but with less effort.

I consider this to be one of the two or three best books I have ever read. It is a fast read and I couldn't put it down. I read it entirely in one day. I bought it originally to explore "Arminianism." This author presents the debate with a careful look at both sides of the argument, point by point. It is logical and fair, and is presented with a tone of objectivity, outlining issues of scriptural proof rather than attacking people who hold to one view or the other. I have often wondered about the validity of the idea that, for a "born-again Christian," it is true that once one is "saved" he is always saved. What about the backslider, or the professed Christian whose life is hypocritical? Is it possible to lose one's salvation? This book is thorough but concise, and so powerful in its presentation that it convinced me to change my theological opinion toward the position of the author. I think that high school or college students interested in being on a debate team would find this an excellent demonstration of how to think through their policy issues. It models how to fairly and forcefully present arguments, evidence, counters, "even if's" and "so what's" (and many other debate tactics) to other issues they may encounter. Most people can understand the concepts in this book regardless of whether or not they value the spiritual subject matter. I would highly recommend it for its value as a resource on scholarship, but especially regarding Biblical issues.

This book sheds a startling but bright and objective light into a very serious look at the coming 'New America'. A time as more than ever as these that we live in. Tells us that the time has come for overwhelming consideration of what is the ordinary man's response, reaction, responsibility and recourse as a proper answer to a threat of a true 'Orwellian' and 'Huxleyian' world for more than just America. For those of us here and other individuals around the world whom remember what a true sense of freedom and privacy was, the answer is an easy one, but the solution will prove to be a very difficult task. Louis Fisher has written a very excellent and comprehensive book detailing America's extremely dire predicament of it's frightening burden to maintain 'Constitutional Integrity' in a time of enormous strain and the extreme fatal outcome of this current state of 'Constitutional Frailty'.

Living in London in the early eighties I used to frequent a sort of leftie/anarchist bookshop near Campden Lock. There I discovered the world of the Whole Earth Review and The Whole Earth Catalogues. Just as well I did too or I would have ended only reading Soldier of Fortune and military books like the rest of my "squaddie" mates. I was in the Army at the time.

What really captivated me about the Whole Earth was the idea that there was an alternative to 9 to 5 go to work, to earn the money, to buy a house you can't afford and a car so you could sit in a traffic jam to get to that work. There were people out there pioneering new ways and new ideas.

A lot of the ideas such as alternative energy, environmentalism, Gaia Hypothesis, and personal computers are commonplace now.

Personally my bookshelves are full of authors (and ideas) I might never have come across without the Whole Earth.

This book is a readable account of the Whole Earth community and its impact on American/Global society.

I can't believe nobody has reviewed it.

This book is primarily composed of country school reminiscences, with the focus on rural Kansas. This is pure meat and potatoes stuff. The reminiscences are very interesting, and allow the reader to really get a glimpse of the educational process two or three generations ago. Collectors of historian Dan Fitzgerald's materials will particularly enjoy the foreword, which was authored by him during the time period when he was most prolific. A very enjoyable book.

When everyday reality hits a relationship, when couples are facing the challenge to achieve a sound work-life balance, skills are needed to make this shared life work in a way that it has a chance to grow and to flourish. The big question is: How do you do this? Some may have been lucky to have had positive role models, but even so: It is hardly spelled out explicitly what the "trick" was which made a marriage or a family successful. Chaffee looks at the preventive steps and he clearly explains to the reader what it means, on a day to day basis, to actually fill a relationship with life and intimacy.

I purchased a dvd/book combo called The Covenant by James L. Garlow.

It really does show us how much God loves us even tho,we rebel and do
things we know are not what we should be doing.
It also shows that some parts of our lives are a reflection of covenants
laid out in the Bible.
I Had wondered about some things recorded in the Bible but never knew
why God would ask man to such things. But this book really gave me answers to my questions plus so many more that I hadn't even thought of.
It brought a better understand of the bible.

Cowboys and Kansas is a must for anyone interested in researching and/or reading just that: cowboys in Kanas. The book gives you a thorough look at the uniqueness of cowboying and cattle ranching in the Flint Hills region of Kansas. There are countless books covering the more "popular" Texan cowboy or the cowboy of the trail driving days. Along with some of his other books, Mr. Hoy provides much needed information regarding the Kansas Cattle business, particularly during the early 20th century.
