I hardly know where to start with this one. This wonderful book is a cookbook, but it is so much more. Lovingly illustrated and organized, this book contains recipes that are typical of the many different Anabaptist groups that came to the New World - the Hutterites, the Pennsylvania Germans, and the Mennonites of the Netherlands, West Prussia, Poland, Russia, and...everywhere. But, added to the recipes are beautiful pen and ink illustrations, folk stories, pictures, trivia, poems, and so much more.
Yes, this is a wonderful book. It's not just a useful cookbook (which it is!), but it's also a cultural expression, and a wonderful heirloom to be passed on. (My book belonged to my grandmother.) I love this book, and highly recommend it to everyone.

i must say its not a bad book, but the shaddy cat the writes it upgrades it every year so the students cant sell the darn thing back
