This book provides great resources to live a better lifestyle. I love the way Jeremy documents his accomplishments and failures. He proves that one should not give up on their dreams but rather set goals so they can achieve their dreams.

Jeremy's book is separated into three parts: Mind set, Nutrition, Exercise. The mind set is a motivational section that describes what tools a person needs to achieve their goals. This was my favorite section of the entire book!

The next section is the Nutrition section. In this section Jeremy talks about what foods to consider eating. This section does not contain a diet plan rather Jeremy attempts to educate the readers about the properties of the different food groups. This section contains great information and gives the reader an idea of what foods are made of thus allowing the reader to decide for themselves what foods are good and what foods are bad.

The final section of this book talks about exercise. Jeremy describes some exercises and explains some different ways to do them. This is a great section if you are not familiar with weight lifting. Some of the exercises Jeremy describes are the Squat, Dead Lift, and Bench Press.

This really is an amazing book. I don't contain the words to do this book any justice. BUY THIS BOOK!

I've read a lot of these type of books. A lot of similarities and a lot of contradictions between books. This books is the most comprehensive one I've read. I've reread it several times and get something new out of it each time.

It has been said that the way to make money quickly in the book industry is self-help or weight loss fitness books. This book does not really fall into that category. It is written with a passion for a subject and based on personal experience and transformation. There are a number of factors that make this an exceptional book, and even more so an extraordinary fitness book. First is the way it is written - each chapter is written in two parts. It begins with the meat of the matter, the teaching about, health, fitness, wellness ... the second part of each chapter is the personal narrative of Jeremy's journey from being unhealthy to healthy. Mr. Likeness gives numerous examples from his own fitness journey and some from those he has helped to move along that path. In the same way that Sylvester Stallone did in his book Sly Moves : My Proven Program to Lose Weight, Build Strength, Gain Will Power, and Live your Dream.

This book is in part written around the philosophy from the book Body for Life: 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength by Bill Phillips, yet it goes into much greater depth on some of the non-physical factors of health and weight loss or weight management. It deals with issues of stress, family life and work factors that can either help or hinder the physical transformation a person desires to make. This book has a very holistic approach to health and fitness. It presents the argument that in order to make lasting changes in your life, those changes must begin from the inside; transformation starts in the heart and in the mind and then works out in the body. Jeremy states: "Physique transformation is about more than simply losing weight. You will find that your life changes in many ways, too. You adjust to new clothing, a new image in the mirror, even a new sense of energy that allows you to achieve more during the day. Spiritually and mentally, you may change as well. Although these changes are almost always positive, change itself can be something that we fear. For this reason, it is important to understand what changes to expect to better prepare yourself as the process unfolds." Once the physical changes start to become more evident, you will have both positive and negative comments from people in your life. Likeness helps to provide some tools for dealing with both types. An example he gives is that if you have been over weight for a long time, you might not be accustomed to compliments - you will have to learn how to receive them and take some of them to heart.

This book, as the techniques in it are applied, can be a great tool for helping a person achieve greater health and wellbeing. This can be a factor in a longer and happier life. If these goals are things you have been thinking about, or have started working on, pick up this book to help boost your resolve and efforts to make your lifestyle changes.

When I first opened this book I thought someone had been snooping on me. Robin Roffer's ideas about core values and authentic promotion of "you" are beautifully aligned with what many personal branding and professional coaches preach. And I am no exception. Yet, she did it in a way that was pure fun to experience! Her exercises are easy to follow and easy to implement. I have shared this book with many clients and would recommend it to anyone - woman OR man who wants a position in life that is noticed and that comes from real goals and real vision.

We ordered multiple copies and are using them as a business tool for a "Women's Council" withing our company. The book has received excellent reviews from the women who are attending, which has also prompted a "Career Session" attended by over 200 women! Not only is this book a great tool for any woman in a business setting, but the motivational content is indispensable for anyone who desires personal success as well. The reading is easy to understand, applicable to daily living and includes interesting insights.

Practical Guide and Development Map

I bought this book a while ago, but still refer to it and the plan that I mapped out. It has you really look into the brands that you relate to that currently exist to see what the values are of that brand. Practical tips on everything from thinking about your real values or skills to presenting yourself professionally as a woman.

Tips are practical and can be used immediately and really help with mapping out a performance plan and development milestones without the preachy tone of the goal setting, quiz, and other leadership and development books that have you focus on one thing at a time. For a queen of multi-tasking, this was the way to go.

I admit, this is the first personal branding book I got (the only one in the bookstore), but it's a great way to start learning about the philosophy.

I don't think men should be put off by what's written on the cover, since Roffer's methods are pretty much applicable to anyone. Her writing is very learned, practical and authoritative, but her style is friendly and not unnecessarily enthusiastic.

Right now, thinking about it, "Make A Name For Yourself" can be more geared towards women if it had a section on "managing expectations and realities." There is still some discrimination towards women when it comes to their careers and the kinds of work they seek. So, if I were a woman, I'd like to get a few tips (or a whole chapter) on how to maximize my personal branding efforts so that employers will see my strengths and potential first, and my gender next.

Apart from that, a wonderful, wonderful book.

This is an amazingly detailed book with many examples of the evidences of our four-footed friends sharing this space with us. The author shares stories from tracking experiences, many, many photos of homes, marks on trees, scat, tracks and anything else that helps identify what was there before you. Our hikes are much more interesting now as we look at the damaged bark of trees and marks on the paths. Our friends are impressed with the knowledge we share that we have learned from this book. We highly recommend it!

I very much enjoyed this book. The author goes into painstaking detail of many many animals (probably some you've never heard of). Not only are the tracks explained, but the possible gaits of each animal, along with the most likely ones are given great attention. There are even sections given to animal scat, what each animal eats, what claw marks might look like and one of my favorites: how to identify predators and prey from kill sites.

This book will remain the standard to the lay person and advanced tracker for quite some time (or at least until wild animals all have GPS embedded in them).

Kudos!

This book has great photos of scat, prints, and other animal sign. I was able to use it to definitively identify otter scat on my property. Information is grouped by type of sign, so all the scat pictures are together, for example, and those are subdivided by how they look (pellets, amorphous, etc.). For many animals there are several examples of scat showing what you might see if the animal had been eating berries, or meat, or whatever. In addition to the photographs are drawings and scale data, and other information about animals and their habits. Though as you can tell, I mostly use it for scat identification.

McKeowan's Guide since its first issue has been, and still is, a fantastic tome which is a must for every camera collector. I was astounded many years ago when visiting Leningrad to see that a camera vendor selling old Russian cameras from a small table on the pavement had made a full photocopy for his use! To me it is the best catalogue of cameras ever published and I will continue to buy each update as they become available.

Reading this book is like hitting a hole in one. Finding so much good advice and ideas in one book for sales is rare. I jotted down so many ideas pertinent to my clients I filled several pages! Her section on prospect blind spots is just so dead on target. Blind spots usually encountered are:

* Lack of understanding
* No urgency
* No differentiation between products
* Confusing value with price
* Fear of change
* Fear of large commitment
* No perceived value-add
* Fear of getting burned. Again.

Then she quickly gives you ways to communicate through the blind spots.

Ever heard of a Horse Chart? That's a PowerPoint where you have a picture/chart (say a Horse) with a title that says

exactly what it is (Horse). Nothing about the impact, effect or utility of the chart in the title. Instead of Sales use a title that talks to clients issues. ( Sales drop dramatically in the 3rd quarter)

A line I really enjoyed. " People simply can not imagine needing something they have not experienced - unless its explained in terms of what they know and love ."

This is a book for those sales and marketing people who want to kick down the doors and storm the castles of their reluctant prospects. In dong so you will be able to make more money than ever before.

Metaphorically Selling

Review Date: 2007-07-16
Metaphorically Selling: How to Use the Magic of Metaphors to Sell, Persuade, & Explain Anything to Anyone is a guide to making use of metaphors for increased success in business. This book introduces the reader to the world of metaphors, pointing out that the use of metaphors is a fairly natural everyday process. The author then explains that the use of metaphors is actually the key to keeping both sides of the human brain engaged and actively attentive. Furthermore, the use of metaphors further understanding of new material through the connection of this material to already understood, well thought out analogies. In this way, metaphors are the key to keeping clients and customers interested in your presentation while increasing their understanding of the uniqueness of your product. Once, these key concepts are entrenched into the reader's mind, the author guides the reader through various exercises that aim to teach the reader to choose and use metaphors for his or her own purposes.

Metaphorically Selling is an important resource. This book teaches and enlightens the reader while it entertains, keeping both halves of the brain happy. Moreover, the evolving chapters of this book actively guide the reader through those nagging doubts about whether he or she can actually create his or her own appropriate metaphors. Thus, after reading this book, the reader can't help but spontaneously come up with appropriate metaphors for any situation. Though this book is meant for increasing business success, the concepts in this book can be used to communicate or teach more effectively at work and in everyday life.

This book was recommended to me by Craig Valentine, a former World Champion of Public Speaking, and I am grateful to him for it. Even though I write extensively for a living (print, speeches and video), this book serves as a great primer or reminder of the ways we can make our messages "stick" better in the minds of our audiences. It teaches how to draw metaphors, symbols or analogies (pick one!) that will be meaningful to our intended receivers of our communication. In all, a worthy addition to the bookshelf of any writer or speaker.

First let me say I am not an author scatching another authors back (I don't know about you, but I don't even read reviews by other authors because they all reveiw each others books. It is much more helpful to me when I read a review from another salesperson, someone who is in the trenchs or came from the trenchs. I do not know the author, never heard of the author before this book, am not a fan, am not a student at some gurus feet. I am a guy trying to pay my bills and make a better life for my family. And I do it by selling.

I have been in sales and marketing for over 25 years. I have read enough books on sales to fill a library. Some good, most just raw material for confetti, with a few books that are great. I feel this is the most important book anyone in business or selling can read.

I have lost sales even though profit analysis and side by side cost analysis both dramatically reveal the supremacy of the course of action I propose. I go slow, get agreements all the way through, heads nodding, even agreement that they want to go with what I propose. And there are STILL cases where I am flabbergasted and frustrated because the deal doesn't close! Then I know - THEY JUST DIDN'T GET IT! Going slow, getting agreements along the way and my point went right over their heads.

I sell a service to physicians...and they are doctors, not business people. In fact that is how I found this book. I knew I had to find some method of better communication that would allow me to make critical points easy to understand by a lay person without loosing their power. Through searching on google I found a link to this book and the author.

The magic of this book is it immediately enables you to communicate powerfully and effectively with anyone about anything, and in a way that sticks in their mind and they REMEMBER. And in sales and business that is critical to success.

This is why I feel Anne Miller's book is the most important book you will read and this is a book that will put money in your pocket! You will sell more, period.

This book would be number one on my recommended reading list, the next 2 books on sales I would recommend after this are Value Forward Selling by Paul R. DiModica, and Never Cold Call Again by Frank J. Rambauskas Jr.
All three of these books are no b.s, practical, and most importantly, they work in the real world.

I bought this book based upon the previous rave reviews. I guess I wasn't ready
to entirely believe what I read in them, but they are true. Usually, when
I buy a "travel book," I think of Fodor's or something from AAA. But this
is a work of fine literature. It has the stamp of a warrior poet, not just
a travel maven. Mr. Stanley delivers crafted lectures in this book, and I
feel he is sitting right next to me as I read it. Now, I know he wants me to
actually go to these islands myself, but he does such a masterful job of
discussing the experience and preparing the traveler intellectually and
emotionally for the trip that sometimes as I read it I feel as if I really
don't have to get on the plane,that I've been there! Of course, I do plan to
go, but with this book I feel as if I am extremely well-equipped to
make the journey. The discussions of historical geology, culture, and
the extremely thorough descriptions of the islands and their people make
this book a genuinely living thing. Sometimes books are titled "The thus-and-
such "COMPANION."" This book should be called "Your South Pacific Traveling
Companion." It is a living thing.

Moon Handbooks South Pacific is the ultimate overview for traveling on any of the island groups of the South Pacific. This 1091 paged book is full of detailed travel information but is still practical sized to tuck in a daypack for easy reference. Furthermore, this book has plenty of fairly detailed maps, complete with accurate distance scales, for easy travel planning or reference while you travel.

There are eighteen chapters in Moon Handbooks South Pacific: Introduction; Exploring the Islands; French Polynesia; Pitcairn Islands; Easter Islands; Cook Islands; Niue; Kingdom of Tonga; American Samoa; Samoa; Tokelau; Wallis and Futuna, Tuvalu; Fiji Islands; New Caledonia; Vanuatu; Solomon Islands, and Resources. The introduction chapter contains an overview on the South Pacific area. This detailed information includes geology, climate, flora, fauna, history, economy, and the government of these islands. The next chapter, Exploring the Islands, contains general information on sports and recreation; entertainment; public holidays and festivals; arts and crafts; accommodations; and food as well as contacts for information and services; health; getting there; and getting around while in the south pacific. This chapter also includes a what to take section. The Resources chapter contains further information on suggested readings and internet resources.

The rest of the chapters in Moon Handbooks South Pacific focus on particular geographical regions, islands, or groups of islands within the South Pacific island groups. The first paragraph or page of each regional section describes a little about the region. After this overview, individual sights, recreation areas, special events, accommodations, food services, information services, and transportation services are depicted in detail. Depending on the size and general amount of facilities in a given region, there may be only one or two entries per category or over a dozen. Each entry contains the location, contacts, costs, and a short paragraph description of the facility or event featured. Several black and white maps and photographs accompany each section, clearly marked with the various facilities described in that particular section.

Moon Handbooks South Pacific is a helpful guide for anyone planning on traveling to any of the islands of the South Pacific island groups. Very complete key information is provided for easy reference while planning or while travel. However, this book may also be just as interesting for the armchair traveler as this book contains ample information about the natural environment, history, and culture on these beautiful islands.

I'm the guy with a signed copy of the OU book, and by signed I mean by all three authors and Coach Stoops himself. So the only disappointment I had about the Yankees book is that, well, when I got it there were no signatures -- but I have to say, each book in this series seems to be getting better and better, and this Yankees book was fantastic. I'm an old man, to tell you the truth, and I remember when Mantle and Murcer and guys like Bench (yeah he was a Red but so what) came through here -- this part of the country bleeds for the Sooners, but we love our Yankees too. I have read a lot of books on both OU and the Yankees -- easily of the ones out right now these are my favorite, and I highly recommend anyone looking for holiday gifts to OU or Yankees fans to consider these items.

I live in Athens and so those of us who are Yankees fans (of which I am one) usually keep it to ourselves. The past couple of years weren't so bad, with Atlanta really struggling -- but when the Braves were in the mix every year it was tough wearing pinstripes around here. With that said, I love this book. I love the unique format, of having 1,000 stories that correlate to 1,000 numbers -- usually in an obvious way, but often in some quirky or creative or mindboggling fashion as well. And I esepcially loved the chapter on Thurman Munson -- RIP Captain -- you are still loved and missed today. This is not your typically history book -- this is a fun sports history book. I pretty much guarantee you that if you have an obscure Yankee player in mind, you will still find him in this book -- and without question you will be absorbed by the amount of knowledge that went into telling the stories of the many legends: Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, DiMaggio, Mantle, and on and on they go . . . I love this book. And I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read a great baseball book, Yankees or otherwise.

Numbers Junkies

This book proclaims that Yankee fans are "numbers junkies" because they boast 26 World Series titles and a host of other prominent numbers that are important not only to NYY history, but to baseball history in general -- and I happen to agree with the authors. I'm a baseball fan who tolerates NY most of the time, but I found this book to be very entertaining and the numbers, stories, and profiles of Yankee legends in this book were well worth reading. If you are not a Yankees fan you still have to admit that the Yankees' history and the history of baseball cannot be separated, which makes this book a must-read for anyone who likes to talk baseball stats and numbers.

Okay, since I got this book in December... I've now read it cover-to-cover 6 times.

This book shoots straight, and doesn't "beat around the bush". Nina doesn't talk down to you... like you should know all this already. She talks to you, and on a level that's easy to follow along with, and to understand.

Now, I'm not saying I agree 100% with what she has to say... and I'd be lying if I said I did. But, Nina definitely opened my eyes, and helped me to look at my partner in a whole new light.

Not just sexually... but sensually as well.

Thank you Nina, for being so open... and teaching this "old dog" some new tricks.

Nina Hartley's book is the best book I have read about sex hands down. The book combines her years of experience in the adult industry and instruction into one fantastic guide. Nina Hartley gives not only how to tips but also gives advice on how to communicate with your partner and create intimacy. Ninas writing is candid ,easy to follow and intelligent. Anyone, whether just starting out or experienced will come away after reading this book learning something new and having fun with the new knowledge!
Who hasn't wanted to pick the brain of an adult star who does sex instruction also?

Better than any other

This book is definately not for just people who are beginners, it's for the pros too! Lots of very useful information on all sorts of adult topics. The writing is interesting while at the same time very informative. Since Nina is a nurse, she follows hygiene and safety very thoroughly. Not offensive, gawdy or overdone. It's definately not boring! Very to the point with LOTS of handy hints and helpful info. Covers every topic you want to know about but don't usually ask. Would totally recommend this to any adult looking to become more sexually aware. Very good!!! Worth your money and the time it takes to read...great for couples!

I first became a fan of Nina Hartley as a horny teen-ager coming of age in the 1980's and now, at age 39, I love her more than ever. This is because Nina is not just your typical porn actress but a sex positive feminist, swinger and educator committed to bringing to the public her message of sexual liberation, anti-censorship and personal freedom.

This book is divided into 18 chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of sexual expression - cunnilingus, fellatio, toys, swinging, erotic bondage and many others. Each section is well written and with very detailed suggestions on how to improve your sexual technique, I actually felt like I should being taking notes at certain points. Most importantly, my wife and I have noticed that our sex life has gotten even better since reading it.

This book goes beyond just your typical sex guide because of Nina's expertise on human anatomy and sensual touch as well as her obvious intelligence and committment to the free exploration of human sexuality as part of the quest for a more happy and fulfilling way of life. Thanks Nina!

Mr. Parnell has produced an invaluable tool for assisting in preparation for the 473 & 473C postal exam. After using his work-book format in evenings for 1 week, culminating with a faux test run the morning of the exam, I went into the test with confidence, and 6 weeks later, have received notice of a passing score which is much higher than I had anticipated. In my estimation, I would never have passed had I not used this guide which provides both realistic simulations and great tips.

if anyone of you were interested in an entry level mail processing position in the USPS, this is the book to buy. i bought 7 books and found Pernall's the most helpful. the practice tests were perfect. the dude knew what he was talking about. in fact, using his strategies for memory part, i believe i got 100% in that section. in fact, i'm currently working for the USPS in santa ana, have been there since last august. i must say that this book helped the most.

Used this book and passed with an 86.70%!!!!!!

I purchased this book about 3 weeks before the exam. I studied very hard and just recieved my results......86.70%!!! That shows that you can score higher on the test than an 85% I also have 10 disability points which makes my score a total 96.70% It shows my score (on the mailed test results) of an 86.70% then below it says, "score with disabled vet points, 96.70%. The book has helped me so much. I wish you guys the best of luck! You may email me questions about the test if you'd like. carl_wingate@yahoo.com. p.s my results took ALMOST 6 weeks to come back so dont freak out when they dont come in 3 weeks.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!

How can I put this? I got the job!!! If you only buy one book this year, other than the new Harry Potter one obviously, then THIS is the book to buy. Of course I am assuming that you WANT to have a job with double the pay of any other entry level job, immediate full benefits, and job security out the "wazoo".

I used Mr. Parnell's book as an aid in preparing for the 473-c postal exam. I read it cover to cover, went through each of the practice exams, and found that my confidence and speed improved dramatically with each testing. After grading my practice exams my scores went from the high 80's to the high 90's. This book is a godsend!

When I went to take the real exam, I wasn't nervous; I was prepared! I found that I was completely at ease and that I was able to focus on the questions, rather than the jitters. Mr. Parnell's book is precisely the same format and question types that you will see on the current exam.

After receiving my score back from the post office (6 weeks is about normal), I had my first interview within a month. The interviewer informed me that my score was the highest (unadjusted for military service) that he had seen! Oh, did I mention, I got the job!!!

I was SO satisfied with this study guide, I'm now looking at the other study guides in preparation for advancement exams to help with promotions to higher paying positions as well.

Buy the book. The very first hour you work at your new job will pay for it twice over. How can afford not to?

This book is produced in three versions to suit your study preferences. These are:

The Original Postal Exam 473 & 473-C Study Guide -- This version is text only. It has reference material and sample exams with many test taking tips.

Complete Postal Exam 473 & 473-C Training Program with 2 Test Prep Audio CD's -- This is the same book, but two audio CD's read it to you while you follow along in the book. Using two senses, eyes and ears increase the retention of information.

New Postal Exam 473 & 473-C Computer-Based Course -- This is again the same book, but there is a CD that contains both test prep classes and realiztic practice exams, you'll need an internet ready PC with Windows to use this version.

I'm living proof it works!

I used this book. I took the 473 C exam. I got a very good score. I got called in for an interview about 3 months after getting my test results back. Make no mistake about it that you need to score very well to be where i am and the only way to do that is by preparing for the test. Don't expect to do well by just showing up on test date and "giving your best effort". This is not that type of test. It's the type of test where practice is the key. And this book is by far the best study guide for the 473 exam. It's not even close. I tried a few others and it's blatantly obvious how little they know do about the ins and outs of this test. The author has personally taken this test dozens of times and his knowledge of the postal office and how it operates in general is very deep. So if you are serious about getting a great score on this exam, you need to get this book.

I love this textbook (as much as you can love a textbook). This is the bible for your cardiology block. I've read it cover to cover and think it's probably the best textbook (by far) I own. Not only does it provide information in a concise fashion, but it explains it very well too.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

I picked this book up at Barnes and Nobles while studying for the boards. It is excellent, both concise and thought provoking. My only regret is that the faculty and students have not written these books to cover every topic in medical school.

Excellent book, one of the best I've used in med school
