Don Steele demonstrates his superiority to any philosopher in these two volumes. Steele gives us a more practical way of looking at ourselves and what we should be doing. Any serious student should know something about his work.

I noticed this book, Rhetorical Interaction in 1 Cor 8 and 10, in Thiselton's commentary on 1 Corinthians published by Eerdmans. I checked it out and find the work to be readable, giving broad background of info on hermeneutics, rhetorical studies, ancient Greco-Roman religious background, and detailed exegesis on 1 Cor 8 and 10. The last chapter on applying the research to Chinese culture is fascinating to read also.

Buy it! They put it in a folded cardbroad box,and put it in plastic bag then they fold and plastic to fit around the magazine. It's in great shape to, it hight price to pay but I think it is worth it.

I was in a bookstore in Toronto and stumbled across the different Dover font books and was instantly in love with all of them. Wisely, my significant other gave me a limit of ONE book to buy. "Fine," I said as I began poking through the books. It didn't take me long to realize which one of the books was superior. With stunning creativity and originality, this collection caught my eye and had me digging in my wallet. If only I would have known about Amazon.com then, I might have saved me a loon or two.

I first be came aware of the work of Karl Gerstner while at art college in the late Fifties. I bought a copy of his first book 'Cold Art?', written in German, so I couldn't read it but I could follow the excellent analytical diagrams explaining the basis of mathematical abstracts as produced by Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers, Max Bill, Richard P Lohse, Gerstner and others. Thirteen pages of 'Cold Art' and spreads from his other books are also shown in this beautiful book of Gerstner's career.

His creative work from the fifties and sixties always used the typeface Akzidenz Grotesk (Standard Medium in English speaking countries) for text and headlines, despite, as he says, there being no italic. To make this type more complete he redesigned it as Gerstner Program and his work on this and another of his faces, IBM Original is explained in detail in the book.

His books, publication design, typefaces, logos, ads, packaging and thoughts on design and related areas of creativity are well presented throughout the book. I especially liked the last few pages which have some examples of his amazing computer generated art (in spreads from the Swiss magazine Basler Magazin) and this is why I find Gerstner so interesting, his graphic work covers such a wide area and interestingly, in the book, he also provides an intellectual underpinning of his creativity.

Pros: While this manual is not as complete and technical as the phone-book size Missing Manual (Pogue), it is very detailed. It is written in language anyone can understand with many clear screenshot llustrations. I think it would be an excellent book for someone who is very new to Apple OS X. I have been using Macs for more than ten years. I bought this after using OS X (and now Jaguar) for over a year and I learned how to take care of some annoying things and also how to use many things I didn't know I had. It is laid out as 24 chapters (thus the 24 hour title) clearly named in the Table of Contents so you can easily find what you are looking for. The chapters end with a summary and a helpful Q & A section that often covers troubleshooting questions. These are followed by Workhop (practice), Quiz questions and Activities. Almost every option from the file menus of every program is defined in simple English as you learn about the program.
Cons: Some of the programs have been updated either with Jaguar or with downloads and these latest features or options aren't covered. As I said before it is not as technical as others, i.e. you will not find sections on Bluetooth.

The book's title really and truly says it all. This is one of a uniquely lifechanging, singularly impactful group of three books. For the sake of all persons, but especially for future generations, I regret that these went out of print. The companion books are Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Nutrition and The Save Your Life High Fiber Diet Cookbook. Get all three. The author is a medical doctor with strong, well-researched and well-documented surprising information about the critical importance of choosing whole unprocessed and high fiber foods such as, for only two examples of dozens, one hundred percent stone ground whole wheat bread and unprocessed brown rice. He shows why there are really no alternatives to proper eating. No medical jargon, his presentation is crystal clear. Parents need these books. Everyone with concerns about colon cancer, diabetes, heart disease, nutrition, and general health and vitality needs these books. We live in a nation of abundance yet the diet of the average person in this country is worse than in the Third World. You will learn how the food industry puts profit over nutrition and what steps you can take to protect yourself. You will never see food in the same way again. As the title says, you just might save your life and maybe the life of someone you care about.

I am not much of a writer, but i do consider myself a reader and a collector. I was browsing through some comics at my local comic book shop and i stumbled upon "Scarface - Devil In Disguise #1" I usually purchase comics as an investment for my kids, as my father did for me. I have many different comic books that were the first edition and many of them are now valuable. When i picked up this comic book, i first noticed the exceptional art work. Artwork is not a big factor to a valuable collection, but a story is. I never heard of Joshua Jabcuga until now. I read the comic book (i always was a fan of Scarface) and always wanted to see a prequel to the movie. The story is amazing... As i finished the first book, i could not wait for the second one. Since this comic book was passed to many of my friends i was forced to purchase another one to keep for my collections. Now i am hearing there is a special edition coming out with all the editions in one. Again, i never believe the reviews i read, but i think this is the one you should pay attention to. He will be a big hit one day. One recommendation, maybe put some signed comic books for sale as well.

I was a student of Dr. Joseph Schmmuckler (one of the authors) at Haverford Senior High School when he first started developing the techniques described in this book. At that time he was developing the experiments for the new Chem Study Text Book for high school. I had the privilege of being among a small group of students who worked directly with him on these experiments. This team also worked with him through the summer and visited a variety of laboratories. We learned how to learn real science from a real scientist and a fantastic teacher of both other teachers and students.

Among his favorate sayings "Chance favors the prepared mind ..." (attributed to L. Pasteur) was an integral part of everything we learned by actually living through the discovery process. The years that I spent learning science with him were the best preparation I could have had for life after high school!

This book is an essential element for teaching science in high school as a foundation for whatever follows.

This book and this series for that matter, is wonderful for the scale model builder or wargamer who is interested in German military vehicles of WWII. This book focuses on the 8 wheeled variant armored cars used by the German Military with great success during WWII. It gives an excellent vehicle/design history, info on tactics, lots of specific mechanical details, tons of images including actual photos, period diagrams, even a section on unit markings. It would be an excellent resource for any scale model builder who is building a "Puma" or other sdkfz 231/234 vehicle. This is just an all around good book from a very useful series of books.
