Delightful peek-a-boo style fun for a wide variety of ages.

My 18-month-old daughter "inherited" this book from her 7-year-old cousin, who really enjoyed it. It fast became her favorite book and she'd spend lots of time tucking the cardboard "silly spider" in and out of his hiding places. I bought a copy for a friend's daughter and she loved it, too. Try it -- you'll get a real kick out of the bright illustrations and the "peek a boo" interactive spider!

My son loves this book

This book has been a favorite of my son's since we have been reading to him. At first, he was fascinated by watching the spider pop through the pages on the book. Then, he loved to try to find the spider as it hides throughout the book. Now, he takes the spider through himself. This is a very interactive book and a lot of fun. We can't read it just once, it's at LEAST twice. The only drawback is it gets a little old for me! But he enjoys it so much, I don't really mind.

What a wonderful gift this book would make for anyone's Christmas stocking. Young and old are sure to enjoy the throught-provoking way the author deals with the reactions of those receiving an unusual request. Although a short novel, "Sincerely Yours" packs a big wallop. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. I bet you'll do the same.

I found this book to be easy reading. Her characters were explained in such a way you became very involved with each one of them. It was a great interpretation of human behavior. And the story kept your interest throughout the entire book. I have recommended this book to my friends and family. This book would make a great movie of the week.

Some of the best poems I have ever read!

Review Date: 2005-08-25
This book is, in my humble opinion, worthy of a Pulitzer. There is so much BAD writing out there, and these poems are a benediction -- nuanced, so perfectly crafted in their lovliness, that they are near perfect examples of some of the best poetry being written today. This writer knows her stuff -- these poems are smart, savy, tender and in many places, elegant and wise. Buy this book, and live more richly!!!

"Six" is a Ten!

I thoroughly enjoyed Eve Wood's book of poems entitled "Six". "Six" was written based on the historic six wives of Henry VIII. Being familiar with the story and quite fascinated by it, I thought her use of history as a framework for her poems was very interesting. The poetry revealed a more intimate and personal story of the women and were some of the most beautiful poems I have ever read.

this is a great book for anyone who's into sneakers. you don't have to be a "head" to enjoy the pretty pictures and the interviews. it's great that the author talked about where to hunt for sneakers in various cities around the world. now if only the book was bigger in size so the details of the sneakers can be appreciated more....

A comprehensive study and indispensible resource
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-01
This is an indispensible reference for anyone interested in the truth about Rhodesia's declaration of independence in 1965 - the principal personalities and their motivations at the time.

Dr Wood introduces his book with the claim that "Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, has been ill-served by her historians" and that "the economy has been studied without reference to the policy-making in the Cabinet Room".

With privileged access to Ian Smith's Cabinet Papers, Dr Wood's careful study provides new insight into the contrasting positions and ambitions of the Rhodesian and British ministers.

POLITICS AS HISTORY: RHODESIA'S UDI 1965

Review Date: 2006-03-17
J.R.T. Wood has accomplished what many current historians fail to do. He has assembled a massive amount of information from diverse sources and analysed a complex series of events to explain why things happened the way the did. His subject is the complex relations between Great Britain, Rhodesia, the Commonwealth, and the world community that lead to the Unilateral Declaration of Indepence on 11 November 1965.

This event was recently recalled in a series of 40-years-on conferences, including one by the London School of Economics in January 2006 (sponsered by the Cold War Studies Centre), that indicates the degree of importance this event had for Great Britain as it divested itself from empire in the period 1959 to 1965. These events were complicted by the Cold War and economic necessities at a time of rising Third World expectations in the lee of the "winds of change."

Richard Wood has done a service in a neglected area of modern history that too often has been made an ideological football rather than a subject for serious analysis. This he has provided from the primary sources of those involved. It is to bad that an institutional sponser has not recognized this and supported the work of what is the first of a proposed three volume study.

As my favourite kids author is Douglas Wood I anticipated meaningful music and was not let down. It is a meditative style with vocals and one solo piano piece. If you enjoy violin, guitar, piano and love nature you will enjoy this CD very much.

Why is this guy an obscure artist?

I found this album, in vinyl no less, in my local Good Will store. It was unopened so I bought it. I own probably a thousand or more LP's, Most of which I don't listen to. This one gets played over and over again! Doug is a consumate artist and Kathy has the voice of an angel! If PP&M had access to these songs in their era, they would have made another album. It is unquestionably in the folk genre but in a truly unique North woods milieu. I know the splendid solitude of the North Woods of MN...but Doug lives it...I guess that is why he carries on his craft in relative obscurity. When I am too old to venture into the North Woods, I will play this album and it will carry me back to the solitary shores of the Little Fork and I will hear once again the sound of the rushing water that I love. Buy this album, better yet buy all you can find! (I own three vinyl copies and just ordered the CD) It is a true masterpiece and will become a classic for all time. Big D, The Iowegian

The book is beautiful, fun to browse, and leaves you with some mouth-watering ideas. The recipes are easy to prepare, and reflect the style of the whole south, not just Georgia.
