I bought this book to help my son Jonathan see a more zen side to masturbation. Or in fact any other side than the furtive and grubby.

Excellent introduction to moving tantric energy.

This book has one core teaching, which describes a technique using masturbation to raise erotic energy, and bring it up to the heart (rather than release it in orgasm). Margo is very eloquent on the positive aspects of masturbation, and its benefits in our sex lives generally; she uses the practices in the book to successfully resolve issues in her life regarding relationships and food. It's an easy technique to adopt for beginning tantra practitioners, who may not yet be able to sense chi movement within their body - after 3 months, most everyone can.

It's definitely the simplest beginning tantra practice guide I've yet seen, after reading avidly about tantra for several months. Good stuff!

I am so excited to have found this book. This was my all time favorite story as a child. I made my mother read this story so many times that the book fell apart. I have been looking for this book off and on for many years and was a little surprised, albeit pleasantly surprised, to find it here. My friend and I were just discussing our favorite children's books last night. Kismet?????

I don't know where the book came from, but I remember it showing up in our house in the 70s.

It's the tale of a young girl who gets the job of washing the mush pots after meals every day. While she scrubs the pots, her brothers play. Her parents go on vacation and Maudie decides to hide the pots instead of cleaning them. She enjoyed playing with the boys instead of scrubbing the pots. On the day of her parents' return, the sitter discovers her ploy. The ending and the resolution are left for you to read.

This was a favorite in our house while I was growing up.

Wonderful written record of unforgettable performances!

After seeing Barry in his one-man play 'Merely Players' not long ago, I was excited to learn that the text of his performance would be available in a book. Interestingly, this volume also includes the scripts from his TV series 'Presenting Barry Morse' which were a great treat to discover. The stories and performance pieces cover material from pre-Shakespearian times to the present, some very funny and others quite moving - and include material by Shakespeare, Dickens, Shaw, Anton Chekhov, and many others. The book includes a lot of photos from Barry's performances and closes with a number of biographical essays on the notables who play roles in the scripts. An interesting read and highly recommended for both fans of Barry Morse and people interested in theatrical history.

Merely Perfect!

This is a book for everyone to read - it is endlessly interesting. You don't need to have an interest in theatrical history, either, because the stories in this book play like little mini-dramas or comedies, and I think they will appeal to almost every reader. Some are very sad and touching, and others are laugh-out-loud funny!
I've always enjoyed Barry Morse as an actor since before his days on The Fugitive, and it is a treasure to have this book where he shares these moments of theatrical excitement.
It's a perfect mix of material, and a merely perfect book!

After owning an MG for over 15 years, and reading what I thought was everything I could find, this new version of the book is everything I expected. The writing is very informative, and the pics in the book are most enjoyable. I think this book is a must have for the MG enthusiast.

Recognized as THE one-volume history of MG

F. Wilson McComb's book is probably the best single work on the MG Car Company, Ltd. He covers in exhaustive but very readable detail the history of MGs, from Old Number One to nearly the last MGBs. McComb covers the racing efforts, from British hillclimbs to perhaps MG's greatest outright win at the Nurburgring in 1967. Copious photographs illustrate the work and the appendix provides a wealth of technical detail on each MG ever produced. A tremendous effort and a very rewarding book.

Robert Brandt's book is a "Must Have" for anyone who enjoys hiking the trails in Middle Tennessee. In addition to an accurate, vivid description of the trails and the hiking conditions, Mr. Brandt also includes a very informative history lesson of the area as well as discussing it's geology, botany and wildlife. "Middle Tennessee On Foot" now accompanies my wife & I when we lace on the boots and strike out on a new hiking adventure. Thank you, Mr. Brandt.

Simply the most enjoyable hiking book on Middle Tennessee one can buy. It is informative, with plenty of maps and photos, and the text is conversational, something you'll want to read again and again as you plan your trips or reminisce on trails already covered. I've done about 100 miles of the trails in this book and have yet to be disappointed. Virgin Falls, South Cumberland, Radnor Lake, Cedars Of Lebanon, Cardwell Mountain...other books cover more concentrated natural areas of Tennessee with more depth, but not as much charm. If you live in Middle Tennessee or are planning a visit, this book is the perfect starting point. Thanks, Mr. Brandt!

Excellent Anthology of short essays and excerpts

This "Reader" is a collection of some of the most influential and famous essays, or exerpts of larger works, by critics of the past 100 years. The works that are anthologized include: Ferdinand de Saussure's "Nature of the Linguistic Sign," Gerard Genette's "Structuralism and Literary Criticism," Roland Barthes's "The Death of the Author," Edward Said's "Crisis in Orientalism," and even Umberto Eco's "Casablanca: Cult Movies and Intertextual Collage." As far I can tell, the collection begins after New Criticism, although there are essays from the Russian Formalists. If you're interested in Structuralism/Semiology, Deconstructionism, Reader-response, Feminism, and Cultural Studies, then this anthology will work well for you.

This book is extremely useful to readers who are interested in literary criticism, and who do not necessarily want to do library searches to find the particular essay. The short biography of the author, as well as the "cross-reference" notes at the end of the biography, are helpful too. A similar anthology is *Literary Theory: An Anthology* edited by Julie Rivkin and Michael Ryan, which also collects the highlights of the theorists's work. However, I prefer Professor Lodge's book because 1) it more engaging, 2) it is smaller and more manageable.

Marvelous Poetry From A Marvelous Author ! This Is A Must Have Book
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-02-08
Victoria A. Wood has found the dimension where the muses dwell. The mind of a poet exists within this chamber of ever expanding boundaries illuminated by the soul. Here innumerable marvels are continually revealed, and here creativity is free from constraints of time, space and circumstance.

Her lyrical expressions arouse overtones of similar emotions in me as I feel her heartache, though not knowing what caused it. I feel relieve as she turned anger into forgiveness and sorrow into acceptance. She has been brave to risk sharing intimate experiences, concealing them with little more than a chiffon-thin veil of vagueness. Her word-pictures are just out-of-focus enough to let the reader see her memories as through mottled glass, communicating through the allusion rather than the specific. This takes a lot of skill with using words.

Aren't words wonderful? they can be squeezed, padded, tinted, combined...they can be healing potions, stimulants, firestarters, poisons, corrosives...I like her use of words as she shapes her poems with them.

I have read her book 5 times now and have allowed the tears to flow. I keep it on the book shelf beside the works of my favorites: Omar Khayyam, Kahlil Gibran, Robert Frost, Alfred Noyes, Emily Dickenson, and yes, Johnny Mercer, Lyricists.

Thank you for writing such a breath taking book, and allowing us to see into your world.

I WAS OVER THE MOON!!! Never have I been so touched by words of wisdom written in such a way, I was taken into a galaxy of beloved poems and prose written straight from the heart as she lived through heartbreak, romance, loss and conquering with such bravery and victory. Ms. Wood's has a writing capability of her own sure to captivate the world today. Such devotion in her work, it really stands out! This book is sure to knock your socks off! I honestly could not put the book down, I am honored to own it.

I've read a lot of food growing/cook books, and this is by far the best when it comes to getting plenty of ideas across clearly in the fewest words possible. Loads of practical ways of preserving and cooking great food, that most people can use, with items they already have around the house. Something for everyone, no matter how much or how little space or knowledge you have. I found it at the library, and will be getting my own copy now! It's too good not to have right at hand.
