Not your typical romance....

This is not usually my genre, but a fascination with Everest led me to this novel. It took me to the mountain, wove a tapestry of characters that I felt I knew and told a love story that was both moving and powerful. The fact that the central character was a woman chasing her demons and not having to act like a man to prove her strength was refreshing. I have read real accounts of treks to Everest and this novel was not short on the reality of the challenges and the excitement of climbing Chomolungma - the mother goddess of the Earth. Good story.

Excellent collection of erotica stories, centered around the holidays. Most are very hot and good, totally sexy and fun to read. I read this one first, but might also get the first volume. A total recommend, along with Husband Swap and Roughing It: Two Dirty Stories.

Full of fun and amazing stories

This book consists of many short stories for the first half, and the other half is dedicated for Leo (the lion that they've raised at their park ranger's house).

Lots of fun and amazing stories of the wild visitors and temporarily adapted wild orphans while the author and her family lived in the park rangers houses in 10 years in south Africa.

The later half is about Leo - the cute and sweet lion. Some parts are heart aching but he'll eventually settle down fine in the comfortable environment.

The authors love of nature, love for her children, and great love and respect to the wild animals are beautifully written with lots of nice photograph inside.

One of my favorite books! I've read this book on the way to my safari trip in Africa.

I really liked this book a lot. It was the first one I read by Cathy Linz and I would not hesitate to buy another by her. It was about Amanda, the librarian at a university. And Scott, a detective who was brought in because of a fire in the library storeroom, and more fires later. They seem to clash a lot, and they kept picking on one another. She had a problem with the fact that he was 2 years younger than she. She felt she should not love someone so young. He was a jewell. I would take him in a New York minute. The characters in the book were very pleasant except for a couple of them. Also, the fire, it was not the person I thought started it. Did not find out who did it until the end. So there is mystery, romance and just good people in this book. I recommend it highly.

WINDFALL IS A WINNER

Cassie Fallon though a non-practicing medical doctor is an ordinary housewife with two small kids and wife to Dr, Edward Fallon; when she learns that she has inherited half a million pounds from her godmother Leanora who lived in Paris. Reluctant to spend any part of this fortune, she and her husband start to ponder why Leanora would have left such a large amount of money or any at all for that matter, when they were made to believe that she had died penniless. The solictor has no idea and encourages them to stop worrying and take the money.

The Fallons start to spend the first set of Cassie's inheritance on refurbishing Edward's medical facilities which ajoin the house and then they redo their home. Admidst all these renovations Cassie takes a good look at herself and decides that she needs a makeover of sorts. She flies to London where she purchases a new brand car, much to Edward's distaste, and with her desire to restart her medical pratice, Cassie's sets her sights on half-baked and far-fetched plans, letting the money go straight to her head. She enjoys herself on big spending sprees buying clothing, accessories, hats in all colours, and shoes. Anything to make her look chic and not like the old Cassie. Along with the package comes new friends in London who she tries to emulate in dress code, and she has never looked better.

Intent on setting up a home in London as she commits herself to working in a clinic there, she becomes extremely selfish with her time spending lots of time away from Edward and her little ones. In fact she now sees her husband's practice in the country as a dead end job and challenges him to transfer to London which would be more lucrative for him, but he bluntly refuses for he greatly dislikes the idea of her working again and he is not comfortable with London or her new found friends. Plus he argues that there would be nobody else to give aid to his country folk. How could he just leave them out in the cold?

As her relationship with her husband quivers on shaky ground, Cassie Fallon wings with the jet set, ignoring him and neglecting her children. She tells lies, commits infidelities amd becomes a bigger spendrift as the time passes.
With the assortment of loveable and unloveable characters the suspense of this novel is killing. Read it and you'll find out where the fortune actually came from and the circumstances that drove Cassie Fallon to travel to France and even Africa for answers to this big question.

As usual, Penny Vincenzi's never fails her readers. This is another delightful one from her that I highly recommend.

Windsor Chair...Dunbar

Probably the first popular book on the subject. Dunbar takes the reader from the basic joints used in the Windsor, through to riving, steambending wood and assembling the chair. He touches on every style of this fabulous piece. Importantly, Dunbar also addresses the specific tools he uses and has designed to render a Windsor. A great book and already a "bible" for aspiring Windsor chairmakers. A "must have volume". Many chairmakers found on the web have taken Dunbars weeklong course at his shop in the east and have started their own careers making Windsors...

Windsor California History-Hiram Lewis

Let me first introduce you to this book by writing a bit from the introduction page of this book.
"Picture, if you will, a caravan of wagons on a seemingly endles journey to some place in the almost unknown northern part of the Cotati Valley, fifty miles above San Francisco Bay.........
One man on horseback, possibly a leader, reached this part of the country and finds a clearing in the oak-tree covered valley. He stops and looks at the wavering fields of wild oats and the planted fields of corn. Farmers have lived in the area for a time before the caravan arrives. He decides that it is a wonderful place to build a town and to live.
Today, we read that it reminded him of the English countryside around Windsor Castle in England, and he thought of WINDSOR as a good name. That man is Hiram Lewis."

This book is a must for anyone that wants to have a bit of History with photos of what Windsor looked like and how it grew from 1895--

The photos tell alot about Windsor. And the book is excellent reading material.

Early in the history of this country a few hardy souls set out to establish a town they could call their own. Windsor, CT was first surveyed and then platted to show ownership, and thereby a vested interest in making a "stopping place", their home. The maps included in Volume I give a detailed view of where one family lived in relation to another. Volume II goes into great detail--more than 900 pages, outlining the relationship of one family to another. This volume provides great genealogical information for the more than 200 families who lived, married, and raised families who have since spread throughout the United States. The descendants have since populated many parts of the country and can trace their ancestory back to "The History of Ancient Windsor Connecticut."

This makes a great source of information for those who have an ancestor named in these volumes.
