This book offers so much hope as does the Transfer Factors you can now purchase through 4life!

Several months ago a friend of mine mentioned his use of Transfer Factors in strengthening his immune system as he struggled with Lyme disease. He stressed how much the use was helping him. Recently, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease so I contacted him and he recommended this book to better understand what and how Transfer Factors work. The book is essential reading for anyone wanting to boost their immune system.(and who doesn't?) Aaron White has provided laymen with a well-written, informative and easy to understand book. I highly recommend it.

I read this book and I am quite satisfied and glad someone has done the research and expressed it so eloquently. I am a seasoned investigative reporter in the natural health care field and I have met, personally, individuals with such chronic illnesses as terminal Cancer, Lupus, Aids, Diabetes,Asthma, MS, etc., recovering their health, many of them in as little as three weeks. These transfer factors are not curing anything but merely enhancing the human (and animal) immune system which in turn does what it is supposed to do: Protect us from opportunistic invaders such as viruses, bacterias, fungi and parasites. If anyone is interested in translating it into Spanish and Portuguese, please, contact me at ([...]) conveniently. I would heartily recommend it to everybody, specially to those folks with family history of chronic illnesses.

If you don't own this book, you should! Earl and Pearl's adventures are entertaining and accessible to pre-readers while the Pringle's clever photo/illustrations and word-smithing will keep any dog- or farm-loving adult amused. The "stars" of the book are all rescued dogs who have found themselves in loving (perhaps even indulgent) homes. I hope the Pringles publish another Earl and Pearl adventure ASAP.

This is a wonderful book! I've bought it both for myself and friends and it has brought smiles to the faces of everyone I've shown it to. The pictures are marvelous - creative, colorful and fun. The humor is simple and warm. I couldn't think of a more engaging way for adults and children to share the ABC's.

A delightful book!

Anyone with a sense of humor and an eye for quality will enjoy this absolutely delightful book! Sit down and relax (with or without the kids), and get ready for the most enjoyable journey through the alphabet you have ever taken. Canine farmers, Earl and Pearl, will cleverly lead you from A to Z by sharing their life on the farm. These two talented authors will leave you howling for more! Highly recommended.

Everyone I have shown this to -- and I have shown it to dozens of people, all ages -- have wanted to know where they could get a copy. The illustrations are amazing, each a piece of artwork with lots of clever details and bright colors and the text is sometimes subtle in its humor and other times quite blatant in its wordplay. The looks the photographer caught on the dogs' faces fit the text so well. It is a joy! Not just another alphabet book...it captures a simpler way of life, down on the farm. (And another funny thing is that, despite the title, there is not one tail to be found in any of the pictures!)

A wonderful, colorful, entertaining & imaginative children's book!

The first thing I noticed about this book was the great quality of the printing...the photographs are extremely eye-catching and clear and colorful. And of course the subject is highly entertaining! Earl and Pearl on the Farm shows the daily life of "Earl and Pearl" on their farm and the photos were taken straight out of the American heartland (then "altered" to create Earl and Pearl in their canine/human form) and feature prairie/farm landscapes and smalltown grocery stores as a backdrop to the adventures and observations of Earl and Pearl. It's a great ABC book for children but is also full of puns and wordplay that adults will find entertaining. I felt this was a very creative and well-done children's book; the most original that I've seen in awhile. People may make comparisons to the photos of William Wegman, but this book has photos that do more to tell and illustrate a story. And it's wonderful that all of the "dog models" used were shelter animals. I think that would make it a great gift for any adult interested in unique books and passionate about adopting animals from shelters. I bought copies of this book for several friends with children and it was very well-received all-around. Highly recommended.

An absolutly great book! The text is lyrical making it easy to read over and over again. The illustrations are colorful and fun. With each reading, your child (and you) will notice more fantastic details. The antics are zany, but Harriet's feelings are real and ones we can all relate to. This book will quickly become a family favorite!

The Curl and the Cure by Rose Gotsis

Harriet's Horrible Hair Day is not only for the young girl whose hair won't behave, it's for the young boy who can't get that unruly cowlick to stay down. When Harriet's cinnamon-colored curl pops out of her braid, her brother is quick to tell her she looks weird. This single remark sets into motion a series of remedies that her siblings apply. Their antics are somewhat reminiscent of Dr. Seuss's "The Cat in the Hat". Creative, wild, and crazy, the cure is worse than the curl. As illustrated in the following text, Harriet's siblings are determined: "Harriet's sister plopped a colandar on Harriet's head, and her brother pulled the curls through the holes." Ms. Stewart's amusingly phonetic text will please all children, and Michael P. White's appropiate illustrations will catch their eyes. Without a doubt, this is a book a child will clutch close to his or her chest. No wonder it has sold out at our local bookstore.

I have met SuzAnne and came away very impressed. Between 2004 and 2006, the author a combat medic with the US Army, served a tour in Iraq. She is a staff sergeant. At only 106 pounds, SuzAnne is one of the toughest and most capable people I have ever met. She has "been there, done that." I am glad that she was able to share her artistic talent with us before she went into combat. I am hopeful that she will be able to create more for us to enjoy. The fact that she has such a tender and loving heart after serving in combat, speaks volumes not only about her, but of all the men and women who put on the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

You will forever view your hunting by the moon phases in a different light after reading this book. You will also examine and very likely modify your hunting to improve and increase your harvest successes. Charlie Alsheimer backs up his philosophies and strategies with experience and research. It is not just based on random opinions and limited field experience. This is a "must read" for the serious deer hunter!

For years I chased whitetails during rifle season only hoping that the rut would be on. It rarely was so I picked up bowhunting to extend my season and give me a better chance of catching the rut. I was still sitting in a tree wait for the rut to start. Mr. Alsheimer's insights have helped me greatly. I now can request vacation time to coincide with the rut, scout an area, set up a stand, and be sitting pretty. The past two years have been great thanks to Mr. Alsheimer's help

Let's just cut to the chase: there are a lot of books out there by self-proclaimed "experts" on how to hunt the wily whitetail. Most of them are just re-hashed information that any serious deerhunter already knows (or should). The number of really interesting and innovative books on this subject is low.
In this book, Charles Alsheimer gives us some truly helpful advice--whether or not you buy the moon theory. This is a good book and well-written, to boot.

Is It All Moon Influence?
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2001-12-17
I believe Mr. Alsheimer is on to something important regarding the autumn cycle of whitetail life, but I am not sure that he has the whole story. The book is based on anecdotal evidence and observations of penned deer. Another author, John Ozoga, writes concerning the effects of age, nutrition, social status, habitat, and population dynamics among the factors influencing the onset and duration of the rut. I do not wish to disparage these observations and anecdotes, he gives sufficient from wide ranging areas to bolster his point; and; anecdotal evidence can, and sometimes does, have the force of experimentation. But then, how would one design more rigorous experiments?

I think that Mr. Alsheimer is a biological pioneer for this theory. He has shown himself to be a keen observer of whitetail life, and has made an important contribution to our understanding of the rut.

This book is, without question, well worth reading.

Charles Alsheimer coveys good usefull information on how the Moon effects Whitetail deer movement and breeding activity. The book moves along a well managed path documenting the ideas based on countless hours of research as well as observation from many an expert hunter. It covers the stages of the rut for North America and suggests times to focus hunting efforts and stratagies to use at these times. I think it's a great addition to any hunter or wildlife enthusiast's library and I can't wait to use some of the information I've learned. Two thumbs up!

I congratulate Marjorie White Pellegrino on her heartfelt book "I Don't Have an Uncle Phil Anymore" which explains death to children. At a time when parents are often understandably caught up in their own grief, this book is invaluable in explaining this passage point in life. I believe the book also helps convey to our children, and reminds adults, that life is precious and unpredictable. Although I first read this book at our local library I decided to purchase one to include in my own family library. My children particularly enjoyed hearing how our loved ones live on in our hearts. Thank you for a book that reaches out to the spiritual needs of young and old alike.

Author Majorie White Pellegrino is able to delve into the mind of a child and help us all remember the confusion and heartbreak we felt and still, feel at the death of a loved one. She brings to life all the questions and feelings that children have when someone they love dies. Through her writing, she helps us to help our children understand the rituals surrounding death from relatives crying to the trip to the cemetery. Although the book will definately bring more than one tear to your eyes it ends on an uplifting note that Uncle Phil will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

This book boldly fills a gap!

This is an amazing and very moving story as well as sobering, humbling and thought provoking told in a simple but interesting style. It is an excellent account of an American pilot's POW experience in Vietnam and in an interesting part 2 of the book his wife discusses the experience from her perspective.
He describes the conditions and torture he and other prisoners endured. How they communicated and helped each other. A very important theme in the book is Rutledge's renewed faith in God. When I was a kid, I had this story as a comic book and it played a major role in my becoming a Christian and in shaping my respect for those who serve in the military.
I wanted to read this in novel form after finishing John McCain's Faith of My Fathers. The setting of both stories is the same, Hanoi Hilton, and of course there are many similarities in the 2 stories, but each has a unique feel and perspective. Both are excellent and highly recommended.

We all have problems from time to time and get down. I read this book when I was faced with a great tragedy. After reading this man's account of his captivity as an American POW in Vietnam, and the misery, cruelty, and torture that he had the courage to suffer through, I knew that I would be able to survive and get through the problem and the tragedy I was facing. My problems though daunting, were nothing comparted to his. He was a real inspiration and a very brave and heroic man.

When I was only 11, I had the pleasure of meeting Captain Rutledge in August of 1976. He was my Dad's Commanding Officer in the Philippines. We all read his book and sat amazed at the God-granted ability to survive. I borrowed the book from my Dad (25 years later) and just finished reading it again. The faith that he and his wife were able to muster is incredible. Makes the rest of us foolish to take our God, our faith, our families, and our freedoms all for granted.

Captain Rutledge went to his greater reward on June 11, 1984. I will never forget that man. He will always be an example for me.

Read it!

While watching the History Channel on the topic of prisons, Hanoi Hilton came up. A few of the former "guests" were interviewed such as Sen McCain. I had a immediate flashback of Rutledge's book which I read back in the mid-70's. It was one of a few books that was hard to put down.

"Capt. Howard Rutledge,11-27-65" was the POW/MIA name engraved on a bracelet I acquired in 6th or 7th grade (~1972). A grass roots organization distributed bracelets with the name of missing servicemen. The idea was to wear the bracelet until the missing were returned. To my great joy, Capt Rutledge returned and wrote a very inspiring account of the hell he and others lived through and the spriritual toughness and comradeship that got them through it. I immediately read the book when it first came out. As an 8th grader it had a huge impact on me. The book disappeared after being loaned out to friends. I retain the bracelet and an undiminished bank of gratitude to Capt. Rutledge and all other veterans. The depth of faith and cunning of the prisoners and the brutality of their captors is amazing. This is an excellent book about the POW experience and the true meaning of honor and a military Officer.

This a book of images that speak louder than words. A photographic dedication to the man who lived his life his way. The book's chapters are starred by each particular chopper Larry was creating or riding at the time. The beautiful images of Larry that complement the bike of the moment are very revealing. Indeed he was a showman and a shaman, but the soul of this great man seems to talk in many of these amazing photographs by Timothy White. Some of the images are candid, some contrived, but it's the glimpses of Indian Larry in his infamous bike stunt, the one that eventually claimed his life, that are the most moving.
Apart from Larry, the pictures of his bikes are equally breathtaking, and his soul indeed lives on through these creations.

...then you'll never get tired of 'reading' this book. I say 'reading' because it's not a book filled with stores and anecdotes of Indian Larry's life, it's more of a pictorial celebration of Indian Larry.

Don't buy this book if you want a biography.

It's an excellent 'coffee table' style book, something you'll pick up quite often just to flick through the pictures and look over them again. The pictures themselves are wonderful, and the large format of the book gives the whole package greater visual impact. If you're a fan of Larry then this book is a must have for your bookshelf.

I've had this book for a couple of decades in the original hardback version. It's a reminder to me of what I watched, live on television back in the fifties, when television had "culture." His Omnibus lectures were thrilling to behold and I wish dearly they were on dvd. His description of how perfect the Fifth was defies description; you had to have seen him use musicians as notes and move them around to show what happened if one note had changed. Or how a little discussion around a table with a man and a woman becomes something else again when sung (La Boheme) or explaining about a piece concerning a little nightengale when introducing Stravinsky.

The man was pure genious and millions of Americans became interested in classical music through this man. This teenaged girl did.

You won't regret spending time or money on this gem.

Leonard Bernstein excelled at everything he tried--he was a fantastic conductor, composer, and writer. From popular music from West Side Story to jazz to "serious art music" like Chichester Psalms and his Mass, Bernstein was never constrained by any seeming limitations. This book is a compilation Bernstein's writings. The first section consists of dialogues between Bernstein and several imaginary characters regarding society's philosophy of music. These discussions are quite intellectual and thought-provoking. The second section contains seven television transcripts about subjects ranging from Musical Theater to J.S. Bach. This half is much more accessible and a breeze to read. If you can't read music, you would enjoy getting CDs of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Brahms' First Symphony, and Bach's St. Matthew Passion before curling up with this book. It will enhance your enjoyment of Bernstein's exciting descriptions, and will make them come to life.

The Joy of Music---a thorough and inspired work

This is a complete, lucid, approachable and vibrant book. The dialogues at the beginning reveal the many facets of Bernstein's character and of his startling brilliance, and the section on modern music should not be missed. Of course, for the sections taken from his Omnibus television programs, the textual medium can only inform the reader what would be happening on screen, and those descriptions probably lack the power of audio-visual aids. It is, however, a work that any student of music, or any lover of music, would be able to take for granted in a Perfect World.

Ten-year-old Ben is thrilled when his soccer team has made the finals for the league championship, but concerned about Travis, the rival team's best defender who enjoys bullying Ben at school and on the field. When Ben turns to his parents for support, they are too busy
preparing for their big family Hanukkah celebration and also preoccupied with Ben's grandfather who is moving into their household. Since Ben is now forced to share his room with his grandfather, he cannot ignore him!
As Ben begins to listen to his grandfather's stories each night during Hanukkah, his frustration turns to admiration, for despite their age difference, Ben realizes that he and his grandfather share many similarities, including a love of sports. Ben's grandfather becomes the inspiration for his school assignment for "Family Celebration Day" and guides Ben to find the confidence he is lacking to be a great team member. Through his new relationship with his grandfather, Ben understands that playing "like a Maccabee"-being strong and doing your best, is the key to winning, especially against a bully!
Using the backdrop of the Hanukkah holiday, the author realistically captures the challenges of peer pressure and positive ways to overcome adversity against a bully. Written for children of all backgrounds, the story of Hanukkah is retold through the narration of the grandfather. Black and white cartoon-like pen illustrations add a comical flair and complement Ben's age appropriate and comic musings. Directions to play the dreidel game and a recipe for latkes are included at the end of the book. An important addition to the meager amount of Jewish-themed early chapter books, this heartwarming novel marks a promising debut for this first time author. Kids will enjoy this book at Hanukkah time or throughout the year.
Ages 8-10.

This writer is a terrific storyteller who spins a tale that works on a variety of levels. Like the best type of "G" rated movie, this work will appeal to children, teens and adults--and will prove to be a book they will return to again and again--not only during Hanukah, but all year long.

Highly recommended.

Written by education expert Barbara Bietz and award-winning artist Anita White, Like A Maccabee is a large-type novel for young adults about Ben, a young Jewish boy who loves soccer but has a fierce and intimidating rival - the other team's best defender, a bully who enjoys teasing and tormenting Ben. Ben feels humiliated at school and misunderstood by his family, and when his grandfather comes to live with them, Ben has to share his room. Just when Ben's life seems to be at its worst, his grandfather shows him wisdom about his own heritage dating back thousands of years, and ways to tap into steadfast strength in order to face not only the upcoming big soccer game, but also the many challenges of life that lay beyond. Highly recommended.

This book had a good message, but what sets it apart from other young adult books trying to influence young minds with positive life experiences, was that it truly was a very good read. I'm not a kid anymore and I loved it. It's hard to believe that this politically correct story of a soccer playing boy who has his grandfather move into his bedroom could actually be a true page turner. This is the best book I have read this year.
