Suitable as a Coffee Table Book!Review Date: 2008-08-15
I cook for myself and I like to keep things simple. When I see interesting recipes that list two or three ingredients that I know I would never have at the same time, I cease to consider making that meal. Most recipes in this book list fairly basic ingredients that most kitchens would have on hand.
The author doesn't just use terms for techniques that many more experienced cooks would know, but gives a little detail on how to do the procedure for the novice. Besides the recipes, many topics on basics are covered in the front of the book. Humor is used on occasion, which can lighten the mood for the harried grill-master with hungry guests to feed.
I liked this book so much, I purchased two more for friends who don't eat to live, but live to eat.

The authors concisely cover the basics of selecting and using a grill, how and when to use direct versus indirect heat, and some general guidelines for cooking various foods. Then they get serious. The recipes in this book are clear and easy to follow, even when they take a bit of preparation. Some require some marinade time, but aside from that, preparation and cooking rarely exceeds an hour total. Pictures accompany all the recipes, which help give you some ideas of the final goal and presentation.
But best of all, the recipes range from very good to fantastic. They present beautifully and taste wonderful.
It is almost unnecessary considering the quality and variety of the included recipes, but the book also contains a section of recipes for rubs and marinades, and even a short treatise on balancing their components, to allow the more adventurous cook to create original recipes.
There are a dozen or more recipes in this book that are individually worth the purchase price. You get all of them and all the good advice and teaching for one price.
Although Weber grills publishes the book, their grills are hardly mentioned - this is far from the kind of book that exists merely to plug one product. (Although I hasten to add that my Weber is a gem!) It is an excellent cookbook that happens to use a grill as the preparation method.
Whether you are new to grilling and want to get started right, or are looking for some new ideas after years or decades of good but routine cookouts, this really is the book you want.

It has great recepies in it, but it also has some great tips on how to properly grill different foods that helped me the most.
This is a fantastic addition to any new griller(like myself), or even a seasoned griller who wants to add something different to their line up.

The Christmas TreeReview Date: 2006-03-09
In this book Julie puts a man in charge of finding the perfect tree for Rockefeller Center. This book is an adventure book because the main character has to find the perfect tree before Christmas.
The main character's name is Jesse. Jesse leaves Rockefeller Center a few days before Christmas to find the perfect Christmas tree that everyone at Rockefeller Center would enjoy. On the way to upstate New York. Jesse saw the perfect tree, but this tree wasn't an ordinary tree because it belonged to a nun named Sister Anthony, known as Anna.
Jesse talked to Anna about the tree. This tree was the only friend that Anna had while growing up in the convent. Anna told Jesse a story about her and the tree. Jesse told Anna about why he needed the tree and Anna said that he could take the tree for Rockefeller Center.
The Christmas tree is a symbol enjoyed by all the people at Rockefeller Center, by the crowd, Jesse, and Anna. Anna was glad to see that everyone was enjoying tree.
If you like Christmas, or you just need some time to rest from working, or you just need to read something around a fire on a cold winter's night, this is the right book for you. This book is about sharing and caring at the same time. You should read this book because it is exciting and you can feel what is happening in this story.

The GODLY manReview Date: 2008-03-05
There are many worthy insights in this book and the others written by Pastor Stu. It has been some time since reading the book, but I recall that a key decision must be made by all men and that is, "Who is Your Authority?" This is a crossroad..."who will you follow?" With you continue to follow your own personal inclinations, the secular wisdoms of the day, or will you allow GOD to be the authority in your life, the guiding principles of your life, and obey the WORD? It is the most important question for all men to consider and then choose wisely. There are many other Biblically sound teachings that are covered. I will only touch upon one. As Christians who are walking in FAITH, there is a need to eschew being the "lone ranger", the Clint Eastwood-machismo solitary gunfighter that takes on an entire pack of vermin and wastes them all in glorious Hollywood images. Rather, a Christian man needs other GODLY men to stand with them, because the battle against the secular world value system and against evil spiritual principalities cannot be realistically defeated as in a Hollywood-Clint Eastwood shootout type scenario and a symbolic ride into the sunset....NO, Pastor Stu and the Bible identifies the need for comrades-in-arms, "Ranger buddies", other centurions, GOD-fearing warriors who will watch your back and your flank. You need others in this spiritual warfare. Otherwise, you will succumb. He tells it like it is. A strand of 3 cords is tough to break. A group/team of committed GODLY men cannot be defeated. Gideon had his 300. Joshua and Caleb had their forces, albeit invariably outnumbered in their battles, Joshua and Caleb's army prevailed. Obedient to GOD, go to Battle alongside other Christian brothers-in-arms. Put on the full armor of GOD and you will win EVERY Battle. Hope this review helps.

Absolutely wondful! Time to replace it!Review Date: 2008-10-12
I'm surprised to have read a complaint about the illustrations - I (and my wife, and my daughter, and everybody else who has seen the book at our house) think they are wonderful: bright, detailed, and above all, contextual (something I've wondered about with other nursery rhyme books). I think one should take that comment with a pinch of salt; there's nothing in the least bit inappropriate with the illustrations (the cover is itself an excerpt of the style in question).
My only wish would be that they could print this book on laminated paper so as to avoid all the wear and tear that it receives as our children's favorite! I for one would be happy to pay extra to preserve this book for their children one day!

a fine moral and human geometry - and a good readReview Date: 2004-06-24
The dangers and possible consequences of the War on Terrorism have been pointed out for some time now and political commentators and journalists have produced many possible future scenaria. Homeland is worth reading - and owning - because of Weber's skill and sensitivity as a teller of cautionary tales. He transcribes the pundits' futures into human terms, anchoring them in everyday life universes both moral and human.
And what timing! More lawyerly deliberations about the line between torture and interrogation have just made the newspapers. The space between Weber's criminal psychologist, Lara Ivans, and his FBI agent and interrogator, Michael James Dougherty, describes a desperate reality which is one consequence of the lawyers' efforts; it is a fine moral and human geometry - and a good read.

One of the best EBAY books on Ebay bar none 5 STAR no questionReview Date: 2008-10-23
Another Steve Weber How-To BookReview Date: 2008-02-25
The marvelous thing about this book is that it starts with the basics and works up to advanced techniques and clever strategies. When I say basics, I mean the kind of information that someone new to eBay would find helpful. What do certain words mean? How do I, and fill in the blank. Steve covers everything you can think of as a newcomer to eBay. Yet, Steve moves quickly and someone going from occasional seller to wondering about setting up a business can move past the basics easily.
What more is there to learn? Steve provides great advice on where to find more stuff for your eBay business. He also provides guidance for evaluating quality and describing your merchandise. All this advice keeps in mind the need to satisfy customers so that they will give you positive feedback and keep coming back.
Just like those popular television commercials, this is the point where I say, but wait, there is more! Steve discusses how to track stock and where it is located. He reviews several software options to handle an expanding enterprise. Included in his advice are options for the most cost effective method of shipping. Steve then provides a lot of detail on how you can expand your customer base through various techniques for advertising your business. I think there are at least half a dozen techniques for getting your business exposed on the internet, including how to fare well with Google searches.
I am touching on just a few of the numerous topics in the fifteen chapters in this book. There are at least 140 sub-headings in this book covering more topics than I had considered when thinking about selling on eBay. With all this powerful information, Steve did something more amazing; he included input from others. [...]
As with any purchase you make, what you want to know is whether this book is worth buying. If you fancy yourself expanding into eBay as a business, or expanding a current eBay business, or you just want to know how eBay works, then this book is worth far more than its price.
One thing I always notice about self-published books is how well they are written. I was unable to find a single grammar error in this book. Therefore, not only is this book full of valuable information, but that information is nicely organized and reading about that information is a pleasure.
Self-help books often seem like they need help themselves. I have read many self-help books by people claiming to be experts in their particular field of endeavor. When you read these books, you quickly realize that the book babbles on about trivialities or the organization is poor. Worse, some of these books have errors that even a novice recognizes. To find a well-written self-help book by an author who has successfully used the techniques in that book is always a wonder. "eBay 101" is such a book.
Enjoy!
Note: The author provided me with a review copy of this book.
More Than Just 101Review Date: 2008-03-14
My only advice to the reader is to realize that selling at eBay gets harder and harder as the years pass. Steve makes eBay selling sound like a sure bet. Believe me, it isn't. Of course, he is so much more successful at it than I ever was. Hmmm-I think I'll go back and read the book again and take notes.--Sam Yulish, author of "Where Have All the Hippies Gone?" and many publications for teachers.

One strategy that I started using as a result of reading this book is writing book reviews on Amazon.com (hence this one). I had never written a book review in my life until I read Weber's book. Now I write them all the time.
This is has been one of those rare buying experiences for me - the product I bought actually exceeded my expectations - by a long shot. This book is packed with useful information for authors and publishers. I really don't think you can get this kind of information anywhere else.
I highly recommend Plug Your Book!
