This is a lovely book. It's a book that I highly recommend to girls around third grade level. I found a few areas where the main character used words and phrases not usual to that age group --- more adult. But I expect girls today are more sophisticated than when I was a girl a few moons back.

Girls have an awful time because they have to compete just like boys. Our little trooper just wants to win a contest. Most girls are not perfect. Having to compete with the "perfect" girl is a nightmare that all girls face at one time or another. This little book will give the girl a true look at life as it is and how she can handle the will to win and yet stay true to herself.

Highly recommended.

Poster Girl is a very special book, one that actually has a reason to read to your child or give as a gift. It is absolutely child safe.

Paula wants to build the best poster for the Open House, except she has waited until the night before it is due to start. In the search, she learns many things about trees and plants, and this information is easy for a child (or a forgetful adult) to comprehend because many details are discussed. She does get her project in on time, one day after Cynthia's.

Her arch enemy's, Cynthia, poster is chosen for the place of honor in the Open House, but the principle is so impressed by Paula's work that he decides to display both because they complement each other. Paula is not excited about this because Cynthia was a close friend three years ago, but no longer.

Now Paula finds that she must stay with Cynthia to greet people who come to the Open House. Both answer questions about their posters.

Anne J. Emerick uses this venue to open minds and teach: communication is necessary -- if you have a question, then ask; what seems to be true and painful, probably isn't; face your fears and you will overcome them; don't be so hasty to judge. There are other lessons, and each is revealed with the skill of an educator.

This is a book that I intend to read to my little frieds, ang give it as gifts to other children.

Anne J. Emerick is not a one book flash, which is evident by reading the a few pages of her next book. Poster Girl is Book One of the Friends Along the Way Series, and I highly recommend it.

Get it for the kids in your life, you won't regret it. If your child can read, then this is a book for their library; if they are too young to read, then read it to them.

With her first novel, Anne J. Emerick raises the bar for every other author of children's fiction. Her characters are very real for her target audience, and they suffer the pangs of growing up that adults can well remember, thereby opening the lines of communication about friendship, jealousy, fear of failure, procrastination and more. How wonderful for young readers to discover that other people feel the same way they do -- and that happy endings are possible!

The introduction of scientific information as part of the story was masterfully handled and will stimulate further research and the discovery of new interests!

I anxiously await Anne J. Emerick's next book, and I urge parents and teachers to purchase Poster Girl!

In this charming book by author, Anne Emerick, we meet a young girl named Paula. Paula is a free-spirited girl, one who may not always match her hair bobs with her clothes, but that shouldn't matter anyway. She didn't have to be like Cynthia that always looked perfect, and always was the pride of the teachers. The class must prepare a poster for a science project and she is determined hers will be far better than that snotty Cynthia's. After all, why should Cynthia always be number one. No, not this time. Paula decides to do a poster about the changing colors of leaves, surely hers will win. Or will it?

Written in a true style for the age it is presented, young girls will feel comfortable reading this book. They will relate not just to the characters, but to the quest of being recognized for doing a good job on a school project. They will learn, in a fun way, the reason leaves change colors in the Autumn. They will also learn that people are not always the way they may perceive they are, and who we think are our enemies may well be our friends. A wonderful story that I am proud to recommend.

I just finished my 31-day journey.... what an incredible eye-opening experience. Thank you Anita for this book! It made me think hard about all the "junk" I had hidden away... a terrific spring cleaning for the mind and spirit!

This work by Anita Pathik Law is amazing! On its own, it is a powerful tool. It is unique in that it asks the user to begin with the reading corresponding to the day of the month you are currently in. This focuses all Power of Our Way users on the same topics on the same day. With the timezone changes, it's possible that someone, somewhere is always doing this work.

This book caused me to look at things differently than I ever have before and to really let my authentic self begin to emerge while focusing on a common topic daily with others. I used it with the meditation CD available on the Power of My Way website as well as with the weekly Community Call in Coaching that is available. I was motivated to begin some long-postponed life changes that I'm still implementing.

This is not a book you just "read"... you actually move along a beautifully directed path that prepares you for a lifetime of discoveries. I participated in weekly community call-in sessions which were a fantastic enhancement to the journey. Hearing others perspectives was a big factor in how I adjusted my own negative thinking. I'm now on my second reading and am amazed at how different my perspective is from the first reading. I regard this journey into The Power of Our Way as a gift. Really getting down to the nitty gritty so as to find out what's really important, what to let go of, and what to chase with a vengeance!

Each day in The Power of Our Way begins with an inspiring meditation and some questions. They're big questions, the kind you normally don't ask yourself because you don't want to have to answer. Inevitably my responses pulled me toward my authentic self. The book holds many treasures but the greatest gift to me was the challenge to go deeper into my life's passion and purpose. I was able to recommit with joy to the path of awakening and the journey to live my truth. If each of us invested 20 minutes a day in The Power of Our Way, we would be happier and more productive people and the world would be a better place for all beings.

It's easy to think that you've got it all figured out...you might be asking, "How could this book help me?" The daily readings are inspirational--really helped me see the world through different eyes. And the daily questions challenged me to keep seeing the world through those eyes all day long. It was amazing how such a simple act of self awareness improved my quality of life and relationships. I recommend that every person ask him- or herself those hard questions at least once in a lifetime, and possibly even more often. I can't imagine this book not changing your life, but at least you will become much more clear on the things that matter most to you. Hopefully, then, you will choose to act on that knowledge and invite in the change.

This book is awesome, Even though she is a christian she doesnt come off super religious or strict about things. Her advice is really practical and down to earth while still incorporating and not compromising christian values. This book is an easy read, like im having a conversation with a girlfriend. I read almost the whole book in the same day and im not big on reading...It really encouraged me to pay attention to how i look and clean up my physical a little bit. Some of the flirting techniques were not for me but overall this book was great. Take the advice that works for you and run with it, you will not be dissapointed.

As a fellow author in the dating category (Dating, Inc.: Recruit, Select, and Retain the Right Man for the Relationship), I'm always interested in reading what my peers write. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by The Automatic 2nd Date. As I read, I realized just how many people complain they can't meet anyone for a first date. So all the energy goes into finding someone and none of the energy goes into keeping someone around. I especially like the "male GPS" angle, it's a cute take on finding the right place to meet new guys.

I have this book in the waiting room of my counseling office. When it's time for my next client to come in, she is reading Automatic 2nd Date frantically telling me "just let me finish this part!" You can't put this book down! If you want the self-esteem, self-confidence, and courage to attract and keep the man you've always wanted, this is the book for you. With her magical communication style, Victorya shows you how to become the person you've really been all along.

Okay, I love this book. This is a great follow-up to Rogers last book FINDING A MAN WORTH KEEPING. I have so many girlfriends who are single-again and terrified to get back in the dating game. I will be gifting AUTOMATIC 2nd DATE to these girlfriends this year. Rogers guides weary singles on a step by step plan on gaining confidence, courage and charisma. She shows how ANY single woman can compel men to ask them out, AND she reveals step by step instructions on how you can sail through first dates without scaring a great guy away (without being phony or manipulative). I especially like the 100 questions she offers to help jump start a conversation with your man which includes some deep questions you can lightly venture into to help gain valuable insight into the inner character of your man--all on the first date and without scaring him away. Rogers does not teach you how to manipulate your date, rather she shows you how you can "get on the same wavelength" of your man just by paying attention and doing subtle shifts in your normal behavior to actually let someone know you care without scaring them away. If you ever wondered why "HE" didn't call back for a 2nd date, even when you had a great time, then you HAVE to read this book.

An automatic 2nd hit! Victorya captured my attention on the first page and I was hooked! I already have a list of friends I'm giving this book to. I especially love the action points and journaling at the end of each chapter. Great job Victorya! No wonder you're married to such an amazing man!

The exercises presented in this book are effortless, simple, and effective. They are more like neurological lessons than something to rote memorize and do. Through slow, easing, and mindful movements we can learn about our body and how it works. Our subconscious mind starts to reorganize our movements and we feel ourselves functioning with more ease. There are further lessons than these basic ones, but these basic ones can carry you a long way in the process and are a necessary foundation for what comes next. I would recommend some of the cassettes or CDs that verbally guide people through the exercises. It is a little more direct than reading something and then doing it.

I bought this book because it was given to my rolfer by a doctor who treated her for injuries she suffered in an auto accident and she felt I could benefit from doing these exercises as well. She was so right! I have had back and neck injuries resulting from years of heavy lifting as well as several auto accidents in my past. Over many years, I have sought relief from my medical doctor, physical therapist, massage therapist, chiropractor and rolfer and although had improvement, I still had stiffness and low back pain and discomfort every single day. The day this book arrived, I read through it and did a few exercises and from that first day, the pain and stiffness greatly receded and is now gone for the first time in years! The most amazing part is that I received the book less than 2 weeks ago! The exercises are so easy it's hard for me to believe they could work especially since I have done thousands of hours of yoga exercises over the years but it has not accomplished what these exercises have in 15 minutes a day for less than 2 weeks! Amazing!!

This set of exercises has been the only thing that has proved beneficial to my trigeminal neuralgia. On days when I could not do even yoga; when I could not even brush my teeth, my Feldenkrais exercises were what helped relax and reorient my muscles so that I could function.

Easy, relaxing, you can do some of these exercises anywhere--even in the choir loft or on the train--with nobody knowing but yourself, and the benefits are noticeable immediately, but progressive. I love this book!

I've read Amazon reviews for years, but never bothered to write one. I have to write a review of this book to tell people how wonderful it is. I own many Feldenkrais books, and this one takes first prize for ease of use and effectiveness. It really works! The instructions are so simple and well-illustrated - and the exercise so short and easy to do - you'll never want to stop doing them. Look, the proof is in the pudding, and I've used this book religiously for over 6 months! It has helped straighten my scoliosis and I feel, move and look like a brand new person. Please, if you don't like it, send it back, but spend the money if you're at all interested in learning about the brilliant Feldenkrais method. It'll be the best $15 you ever spend. It was for me.

This book is an outstanding contribution to the field of health, fitness, and sports. I have used it prior to playing sports to align my posture and increase the efficiency of my movements. I have recommmended this book to clients after they have finished their Medical Doctor and Physcial Therapist Interventions. I believe it assists traditional medical interventions to be even more effective by naturally restoring lost mobility and movement patterns.

Life is as simple and as rewarding as we make it. And it doesn't get any simpler or more rewarding than when we live it to its fullest, guided by the intelligence and wisdom of the Revolutionary Agreements! Read them and ride the wave to the glorious future that waits for you.

It is about time someone gave us some practical information that helps people get along. The author has taken the high road by showing us that life is a "team sport" and whether we win or lose, playing together is what really counts... There are so many books on winning and getting rich and being the best, but so few books that help us just "get along." Thanks for a great read and a touchstone; on this we all can agree.

This book made me laugh, cry, and look at myself and others in my life in a new light. It's a book everyone can relate to, for don't we all struggle every day with the challenges that sometimes seem so frustrating that they oftentimes take the enjoyment out of life? I've used just about every guidebook for Rt. 66 and this may be the best. Excellent photography, detailed text, recommendations for casual drives as well as rough, 4wd only trails. And best of all, half the book is laid out for traveling east, and half of the book laid out for traveling west.

It's a few years old now, but still entirely useful! Highly recommended!

"Route 66 Across Arizona" is a must guide for those traveling across northern Arizona - especially users of I-40, which largely parallels the old Route 66.

As a regular traveler in that area who has already undertaken a fair amount of research and exploration on Route 66, I can personally attest for its general accuracy (not 100% though - time changes most everything) and usefulness. The most substantive update I would offer is to definitely stop at Two Guns - it is no longer fenced, readily accessible, full of history, and quite interesting. The second suggestion is that Route 66 Padre Canyon Bridge (circa 1914) is much more easily accessed by parking off I-40 at the West side of the I-40 bridge, and walking North - don't take too long, though, or the Highway Patrol will tow your vehicle. (Similarly, the Painted Desert Trading Post is more easily visited by parking off I-40 just East of Dead River, and hiking North for about one-half mile.)

Again, great material for both the novice Route 66 traveler, or one who has "been there before."

Best of the best ! If you plan on traveling Route 66 in Arizona...this is a no brainer. Great photos, easy to follow directions...both East to West and West to East, color coded. From folks that live in and know AZ....not just passing thru.

I was fortunate enough to buy this book just before my family's summer drive on 66. I'm definitely glad I did! This book made my family's drive along Route 66 in Arizona into a real adventure road trip.
I have read most of the national and state guides for the Mother Road, but this is definitely one of the very best. The Mangums have included all the alignments of the old Road, have them color coded and dated, and even include journeys for 4WD vehicles and bicycles on Route 66. I never would have found some of these alignments with the standard maps and guides.
One particular favorite was the old 1930s alignment between the Monte Carlo exit on I-40 (149) and the Welch exit (151) farther east. It was potholed and torn up, but I really felt like I was experiencing the real Route 66.
The book's recommendations for hotels, cafes, and attractions were extremely helpful. Also, unlike most Route 66 guides, this book describes the trip going in both directions!

The Mangums have another hit. This is exactly the sort of book Route 66 travellers have been waiting for. "Route 66 Across Arizona" is a very user friendly guide book that gives accurate, detailed directions to the existing sections of Route 66 across Arizona. I have tried several of their tours, and found them to be exactly as described. There are good maps, some history and local color, and perhaps best, recommended stops along the way. "Route 66 Across Arizona" beautifully updates Jack Rittenhouse's 1946 "Guide Book to Highway 66" and provides a practical foundation for many other books about Route 66.

Going through therapy to get to self actualization was something I discovered in this book. Captivating

I really liked the deep truth of this book. It walks the reader through what it feels to be through the process of therapy. It had a poetic tone of language to it as well. It made me cry. In some ways it reminded me of myself (the client in the book). Overall, this is the first time I have read a book that takes me through the actual therapy process. I didn't know normal people go through therapy too. I thought you had to have a mental disorder. But it seemed like the client in this book was better functioning than most people I know but she still sought therapy to get to her full self. Loved it.

This book walked me through how it feels to go through therapy. I have never experienced therapy before. I think I will if I can find a good therapist. The book was very well written full of information.

I got this book after falling in love with the author (when I read her first book Rumi and Self Psychology). I could not put this book down. A combination of everything. Many of my unasswered questions were touched in this book. I highly recommend it.

This book is the most unique book I have ever read. I was so deeply captivated by it in every aspect. I read a lot of books but this one is on top of my list of recommendations.

My hubby and I bought a motor home and wanted to make trips from the Southeast to all of the STATES. This book has been a great help in pointing out many interesting points/areas that we would have missed. Even if you cannot actually travel, it is fascinating to read what there is in the USA!

I used this book frequently during our RV travels. This is a great book to use as a base to explore America. The book is very informative and interesting. We were not disappointed in the descriptions of the places we visited. This book is my most valuable book among my RV books for travel. A must have in any RV.

It is an indispensible book for the road traveler. Provides loop tours, so you can see new sites both outward and home bound. Has easy directions, good descriptions, and appropriate photographs.

An excellent, well-designed map and tour guide to seeing every state in America. Each region of each state is broken down into loop tours, accented with color photos, maps and sites to see along the way. The books is sprinkled throughout with insider tips, such as when to make reservations, how to save money, special tours and other hints to make the trip more pleasant and trouble-free.

This was an anniversary gift from my mother. We tried one state tour and were hooked. It's what made us decided to quit our jobs and see all 50 states once and for all. This book should be in the library of every individual who wants to tour even just one state -- even their own home state.

Selling Your Company the Easy Way, is another example of Mark Jordan's commitment to middle market business owners and the business sales process. He masterfully covers topics that all business owners must understand when considering a company sale. Mark takes the guess work out of the important issues associated with the sale of a business once and for all.

As an investment banker I look for tools to offer my clients that help address this complicated process. Sellers have difficulty understanding the sequential events and mental preparation that coincide with the deal. Mark's book lays this information flat on the table without the typical glare of "banker-ease" that prevents thorough comprehension. Read it!

This is one of the cookbooks I began married life with nearly 30 years ago. I have my mom's copy that she got waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. You'll love it and appreciate all the more that you can buy mayo ready made - or, who knows, you may prefer made from scratch!

For one thing mine back then had oven temp,s in it and this one does not. Unless you have special dietary preferences/requirements (e.g., diabetic, low carb, vegetarian, etc.) this is a terrific basic cookbook.

My mother (who fed everyone delicious and hearty meals for many decades) used this cookbook almost exclusively, albeit she only cooked from written recipes about 1/3 of the time. I have inherited her 1954 printing (third edition I think) of this essential culinary document and it's as good today as it was during the Eisenhower years. The original printing was published at around the turn of the 19th-20th Century.

I call this a "meat and potatoes" cookbook (TONS of recipes) although there's a lot in here beyond those two major ingredients -- but you know what I mean. The reader will also note that it contains a huge number of recipes which make use of nutritious root vegetables (which we have unfortunately gotten away from in recent years) such as parsnips and turnips. If you like eastern European food this book offers a particular wealth of superb recipes for those dishes too.

I would especially recommend "The Settlement Cook Book" to those who are just beginning to learn about cooking. This would make a great "first cookbook" and a nice gift for newlyweds. I have yet to discover a marginal recipe in this tome of culinary knowledge. One of the features which I like most includes the nicely illustrated "meat charts" for beef, pork, and sheep/lamb. These line drawings are quite informative as to every available cut of meat, a topic which can be quite confusing as one peruses all the roasts, steaks, ribs, sausages, and burger in the meat case at the grocery store. Recipes for all these meat entrées are featured herein.

My highest recommendation for both home cooks and chefs.

I have been using this cook book for 45 years. My mother bought it for me when I married. Her book was a previous printing and even told the new cook how to kill the chicken before cleaning and cooking it. My three daughters now use it in their homes. It has wonderful recipes that are plain, good cooking. It is the cook book I reach for first.
