As a long-time family law practitioner, I believe that the Collaborative approach to divorce and separation offers the best chance for couples to divorce each other without destroying the complex network of family and friends that is a part of every marriage. Pauline Tesler's highly readable book clearly explains Collaborative practice and how it can accomplish the preservation of a peaceful reformation of a family contemplating divorce. This is a must read for anyone, attorney or private party, who has anything to do with divorce Please read it--if not for yourself, for a friend, a neighbor, a family member.

Many divorce lawyers (including me) are jumping on the band wagon for this much more respectful way to divorce. Pauline Tesler is one of the top trainers in the industry and has a huge following among divorce professionals. This is not a how-to-do-it-yourself book but helps you make more intelligent decisions about how to handle your divorce.

As the matriarch in a very large extended family, where there is much love but conflict may be unavoidable, I read Collaborative Divorce with great interest. I hope my family will not need to use it, but just in case, I bought a copy for each couple around me. Bitter divorces are expensive, painful, they create long-term resentment, and make it difficult to raise healthy children. The damaging effects of failed or thwarted love can and should be avoided. That is the point of this book. According to the authors, when there is a commitment to integrity, ethical
behavior, clear communications, and constructive problem-solving, a divorce should be a solution and not a cause for more entrenched conflict. Collaborative Divorce shows there are smarter and kinder ways for a couple to part.

The authors have succeeded in creating an easily accessible and remarkably complete guide to thinking about and managing this difficult process. The combination of legal and emotional insight will resonate strongly with anyone who has participated in divorce and goes on to skillfully guide the reader through the alternative. Clearly there is a better way and this work hits on all the different aspects, how to approach them and the high value of avoiding the legal process. This is a must read for anyone contemplating divorce. The outcome will be a dramatically better experience, better settlement and an easier path to the rest of one's life. Top rating.

This book is very popular with the Hebrew students! Amazing how our classes have been looking for a book like this and finally the Third Edition was printed. It is moderately easy and comprehensible and with the deepest of one's heart desire we are studying the Hebrew Prayers. Hopefully, someone is working on BOOK TWO, let's go deeper into the study of the Hebrew prayer.

I am using this book in a classroom setting, so it makes it easier with a teachers instruction. I find it very benificial. I like that it has an answer key in the back, so you can check the exercise parts, and a glossery at the end with the sing, and plur. forms.
Highly recommended for classroom use.

After you have a cursory understanding of the Hebrew alphabet and language, this book takes the motivated student a step further in to the world of Hebrew prayer. A wonderful resource, great material.

This is a good book to begin your study of Biblical/Poetic Hebrew. This book does not use cumbersome latin terminology for parts of speech and grammar, and this book does not assume any previous knowledge of Hebrew, with the exception of undestanding the Hebrew alphabet, pointed vowels, and their associated pronunciations.

Thus, this book is easy to use for anyone who knows the Hebrew alphabet, and can pronounce Hebrew words, but doesn't know what those words mean. If you do not know the Hebrew alphabet with the associated vowels, then I recommend learning them from an online website that gives free tutorials and lessons in the Hebrew Alphabet. If you do a search, you should be able to find a few of these.

I also agree with the other reviewer that this book could be better if there were some cassette tapes or CD's to go with it. Part of learning a language is hearing a language spoken, as well as trying to speak it yourself. They don't call a language a "tongue" for nothing!

As a child, I tried to learn and it didn't stay with me. What did stay was a fear that understanding prayerbook Hebrew was something I couldn't do. Well, judging by the excellent reviews, I bought this book. And lesson one made me sigh with relief. I *can* learn this!

Please note that you need to know the Hebrew alphabet but then you can move right along.

Lucie and Lucy have written a book to inspire you to preserve family history in a fun and heartfelt way. This colorful book is filled with hundreds of photos to show you examples of what other families have done. It will help and encourage you to select and collect ideas and keepsakes and then give you creative ways in which you can preserve them. What better way to connect with those you love than to create an heirloom - a personal lasting "Family Original." As a grandma who feels strongly about passing along family lore, history and values to grandchildren, I highly recommend this book.

I had the pleasure of meeting co-author Lucy Lewis at this year's Book Expo America, and Family Originals was such an impressive book that my wife and I each went home with a copy - and if you want a book that will truly inspire you to turn family history and memories into a living, shared celebration of life, you will too.

If you are you like most of us, with a drawer full of faded photographs and a yearly struggle to remember every nephew's birthday, this book is full of practical tips that include a step-by-step game plan for organizing your family photos, a treasure trove of places that memories may hide, from recipes to exercise journals, and nearly 100 pages of themes ranging from holidays to old vehicles to your religious faith. But much more than that, it gives you a recipe for building the stories, the memories, and the shared values that form your family's "culture" - and as an author on organizational culture and communications skills, the authors' focus on developing this sense of "who we are" and passing it along really resonated with me.

The book itself is a stunning visual achievement, thanks to the design efforts of David Hunt - ideas are literally popping off of every page, with hundreds of suggestions and seemingly a cast of thousands - their contributor acknowledgements alone represent two full pages of small-point type. This is nothing less than a tool to bring your family closer, and build relationships that stretch beyond our lifetimes into history.

-Rich Gallagher, author of The Soul of an Organization and Great Customer Connections

It has spawned on to even new ideas and then realizing I already had some of my own to share. Tell everyone about this book because preserving our family history is important to those who are young.

At first glance this book might make you feel guilty about all of your family projects that haven't gotten done, but the exact opposite is true. The authors have made it easy to find and embrace a project that is perfect for the task at hand. They encourage real people with real schedules to start small, and they give us unique and motivating ideas. My personal favorites are the ideas for preserving my mother-in-law's recipes, the dictionary of family expressions, and the self-addressed postcards to document family vacations. But there are hundreds more, all presented with clever and hysterical family photos and graphics to stimulate your own creative juices. I highly recommend this book to any family who has ever been on vacation, had a birthday party, or loved a grandparent -- which is just about all of us.

Family Originals is a wonderful book that will have you reading it once just for the fun of it, then going back to start your own lists and projects. There are so many good ideas and examples that even I stopped my procrastinating ways and swung into action to record more of our priceless family memories! It is great fun to give a copy to all of your extended family to get them going, too. The ideas really begin to flow, prompted by this well organized and creative book.

But all this info in this book helped tremendously. It helps you loose wieght along with de-stressing yourself. I also learned that drinking tea does not help you but hurt you.

The stress connection with weight loss

De-stress, weigh less is a well organized compacted book with all the data one needs to know for staying fit and noting which foods cause stress and weight gain.

I liked having the checklists handy, which foods reduce the stress of boredom, weekly goals, the recipes and the tomato sauce for a week and the exercise data showing the symptoms of too much exercise.

For me the best aspect of De-stress, Weigh less is having the exact listing for which foods are vitamin rich along with the deficiency symptoms.

Usually when reading a book that states you need more protein or Vitamin B, for example, you will not get examples of what this is. I liked having this data listed so I could make adjustments in my diet.

The book covers MSG, eggs, sweeteners, binge eating, time management, allergies, food sensitivities and much more in six steps to follow.

I already eliminated Aspartame from my diet and liked seeing the list of what types of items this can be found in. The book also touched on the confusion between assertive and aggressive - an issue I have faced many times in deciphering the two meanings.

There is a food seduction test in step two. The index is extensive and covers every aspect for this no-diet plan to permanent weight loss.

The ultimate life style change book.

My Christmas gift to myself was to read Delia's Way. I want more - when is the next book? Or else I am coming to Paso Robles to sit at your feet and listen to stories about growing up in Panama. I particularly liked the mixture of English and Spanish, not necessarily having the English right after the Spanish. It stretched my language abilities, and I enjoy the use of Spanglish (mixing English and Spanish words together in the same sentence).

Thank you for a great read!

It brings the Latin American culture to the reader in a gentle and accurate portrayal of a family with its conflicts and passions. This book reaches readers from teen age girls to adults with its exotic setting and compeling plot.

The family tale focuses on a young girl's emergence from her pre-teen years to adulthood -- struggling through her own biological mysteries while trying to adapt to an older sister's dominance. Every family member plays a role in Delia's growth while their homeland faces its adjustment problems thru & beyond WW II and the presence of the Americans governing the Canal Zone Isthmus. Delia's maturation should offer many non-Spanish speaking readers insights into a young woman's struggles within a different culure, a different era. An interesting read!

Review Date: 2002-04-03
Life's prevailing propensity for trial and tribulation set stages to examine real life drama. In doing so, there are compelling and compassionate means in which people have persevered to make meaningful differences through the agony of adversity. The aforementioned is a testament to Montel Williams' attempt along with Daniel Paisner to shed insight to a montage wrought with gut wrenching dilemmas that warrant your attention. Mr Williams has been witness to, have been involved in, and have been the recipient of the type of angst that not only try mens souls, but forces them to be the catalyst for change. As I read this book, I couldn't help harkening back to previous episodes that depicted the caring spirit of someone who truly wanted to make a difference. 'A Dozen Ways To Sunday' and the twelve stories of hope and courage should have a profound effect on you. The authors uses twelve personable points of contention to illustrate exhibitions of clarity to give readers reasons for allowance to step outside of themselves to acknowledge that...no matter how you hurt, there are others that hurt more. This is done by the 'never say quit' attitudes displayed, and the ways they've stressed non verbally the importance of faith. Their messages in each poignant case shows how important to them the need to encompass viable vestiges of strength, resolve, and vision to heal wounds.
Take for example the case of Sulieman Beyah who battled the maladies of Lupus and a kidney transplant to be able to found a nonprofit to help others that shares his plight. Consider too, the story of a couple who felt that no amount of children was too much for them in adopting ten siblings! Then there's the story of Ian O'Gorman. This is a unique trial of how high hopes for a new tomorrow spurred efforts by him to persevere through the ravages of cancer. He accomplished it by keeping a smile on his face, and possessing a winning outlook in being the backbone of ways to help defray costs for cancer patients the world over. You will meet these people and the others as you read on.
I've asked myself who is this book for? And why dramatize in print problems faced by a handful of suffering people? Beyond any doubt, I was able to ascertain that taken together, these stories of hope, faith, and true grit presented a larger than life perspective told through the eyes of one of the most caring television personalities who endeavored to illustrate how certain truths can be attained by believing. Albeit, 'A Dozen Ways To Sunday' may be looked upon as oxymoronic in light of the title, but underneath these twelve profiles the author(s) does nothing to dispell the notion that there would be many more with issues to spur the need to achieve success. I feel that the intent here, as Montel laments, is for us to "learn from these stirring individuals, and make a difference". He goes on to say that, "I've learned from the hand I've been dealt that time is the barometer for change to be able to give something back, to push forward in the name of perseverance".
You'd want to read this book for the passionate insight beneath the surface of the lives Montel has touched---and who touched him--while giving us these heart felt stories. You'd also want to read this book because a part of us always want to be at the forefront of inner peace by making a way for those that are less fortunate. And if by chance you are moved, then you will do what's expected of you. Buy this book there's a message within!

If you want to give your family and friends a gift that can change their lives, please consider giving them this book. It contains 12 stories of 12 amazing and courageous people who will help you put your problems into perspective and, above all, help you see how to live life with "no excuses and no limits" (as Denny Chipollini would say--see chapter 12 for a motivating story! You won't be able to blow off those exercises as easily anymore once you read his story!!!!). We all want to enjoy life to its fullest and be grateful for the gifts we've been given, but sometimes in this hectic world it's hard to connect with how to do it. This book helped me connect with the compassionate and hopeful side of life without a personal tragedy. Thank you for sharing these stories!!

This writer calls herslef an expert bashes thing she has never had any thing to do with uses brain scans which she has only seen for a few seconds and admits with in a interview

GP: One thing I found especially concerning... was [an e-mail] comment that you only saw the [Indiana University] brain scan pix five minutes before air [of The Morning Show]. That being the case, do you think it appropriate to go on and offer a professional opinion based on the scans to the audience?

Dr. Bartell: That's the way it is with TV -- it's just not a black and white thing. I am genuinely sorry that it caused such a sense that I was being so disrespectful [to gamers]. The scans aside I stand by my opinion that violent games should not be played by teens... As to whether I should have responded to the scans -- my intent was going on air to discuss whether the church should be holding Halo nights, clearly that was derailed.

GP: In all honesty, I'm having difficulty reconciling "that's the way it is with TV" to responsible professionalism. It smacks of sensationalism. Just being candid here.

Dr. Bartell: I can understand how you feel... there is an element of sensationalism to it I suppose, but no less, IMO than all the hoopla created by the GP posters in response to my appearance. I appreciate candor -- it will always help me grow as a person and as a professional. I couldn't -- five minutes before going on air -- say, sorry I won't do it, I don't have enough background information about this brain scan! I'm just not that much of a purist...

As a teenager, I could really relate to this book! It supplied me with terrific tips and easy guidlines to follow! Its self-accessing quizzes and answers were clear enough for me to understand what I've been going through, what's right for MY body type, and what I had to do in order to create a healthier lifestyle for myself. Dr. Susan did most of the writing, but she was advised by a panel of 12 teenage girls. These girls contributed some of their personal weight-battle stories and they told of ways they changed themselves and their views. I found that these stories gave me incredible advise because they were things I could directly relate to!!!

One of the most important things in this book were the eating and exercising/activity tips and tricks. Using this book, I was able to figure out ways to incorporate healthier meals and snacks into my everyday hectic schedules. I also learned the consequences of binge-eating, and how to control my portions of snacks and meals. I was exposed to several new stretches and exercises from diagrams and descriptions, and I learned how I could make exercising into an enjoyable activity - rather than one to loate.

Despite how useful these things were, I found that the MOST helpful thing for ME was when I learned that DIETS DON'T WORK! I had been trying different diets on a constant basis. Dr. Susan taught me that the only way people can lose weight is if they PERMANENTLY change their lifestyle.

If you want to know the 411 on how to change your life, your self esteem, and your apperance, look no farther than Dr. Susan's "Girls-Only Weight Loss Guide" !!!

An outstanding book for overweight teen-aged girls.

I have been in bariatric medicine for 39 years and this is the first book for teen-aged girls that makes sense. This is partly because of Dr. Bartell's advisory panel of a dozen girls and partly because of her extensive knowledge of behavioral management of obesity. The book is easy to read and understand and is practical in her choice of subjects to cover. Healthy eating, understanding of eating disorders, exercise and management of family interactions that could ruin a diet are covered extensively and intelligently. This book is comparable to the one for smaller children written by Leonard Epstein (The Stoplight Diet) that is out of print now. Parents with overweight teenagers need to get this book and share it with their daughters.

As the mother of a 15 year old ninth grader, I was relieved that my daughter embraced Dr. Susan's Weight Loss Guide. Of course, I would like to say that my daughter devoured this book, and then stopped devouring everything in sight. It hasn't been quite that easy, but this Guide has made a significant difference in the way my daughter views her body, her image, and her relationship with food.

The book's format is fun and easy to read, filled with clever hooks that grab a teenage girl's fleeting attention. Lots of quizzes and self-ratings allow girls to be honest with themselves as they evaluate their thoughts about why and what they eat, and their food/friends/family issues.

I especially appreciated reading the thoughts and feelings of Dr.Susan's group of young teenage girls with their own real issues. Learning that my daughter is not alone in the teenage whirlwind of body image and popularity made me (and my daughter) take it all in stride.

This book is a must for all teenage girls, whether or not they are battling weight issues, since at its core, this Guide offers the roadmap to a healthy lifestyle.

Winton Churchill makes this subject understandable for any type business owner. I have put his strategies to use and I have watched my business grow right in front of my eyes. I do not come from a business background and I had the traditional thinking for marketing which does not work any more. I am looking forward to the next book or maybe the next step is a coaching program.

My business (and therefore practically my whole life) depends on email marketing. That's why I thought I could skip the Introduction and first three chapters, since they seemed to be written to do a sell job on how important email marketing is to growing your business.

However, I'm so glad I didn't skip them, because Mr. Churchill taught me what a complex sale is and how I needed to look at my business differently. You see, recently I had begun marketing this new higher-end (i.e. very expensive) book marketing program and I had been getting very frustrated with the results I was getting.

It works brilliantly, so I didn't know why the sales leads weren't converting. I thought perhaps the market was going dry, or my sales staff was losing their edge, or maybe the down economy was forcing people away from promoting their books and I should consider a new business.

I was so good to find out it wasn't the economy, and I don't have to hire new sales people, and there is no need to change businesses. I just needed to treat my email marketing differently.

The rest of the book was extremely valuable in putting together the right plan of action. There was no techno-babble, just straightforward, plain language guidance that I could understand and apply.

If you have a business with a complex sales cycle and it's in the slow lane, or if you want to add a higher end product or service and create success right from the start, then I highly recommend you get this book.

Winton Churchill's system will attract more prospects and kick their buying into high gear, because it teaches them how to make their decisions faster and with greater confidence. And, if you're in a situation like I was, it will reduce the wear and tear on both you and your sales team. It should be required reading for every sales manager.

This is one of Lama Ole Nydahl's most captivating books, one of his best. It's a superb book about Diamond Way Buddhism. The Lama Ole you get in person, full and every time he teaches, is richly present in this book about his honeymoon in Nepal, his conversion, and SO much after that! He's a great teacher, a realised teacher. Kingdom politics have been played for centuries, perhaps especially in exile. Whatever the real meaning behind the ongoing controversy of two Black Karmapa 17 claimants, Lama Ole Nydahl's teaching is refined by truth tested, a legacy of buddhist teaching that affords faith in the truth, and the understanding attained from it. Entering the Diamond Way is rich and clear, and a beacon of hope.

In the sixties Ole and his wife Hannah embarked on an epic overland journey culminating in their meeting H.H. the 16th Karmapa in Nepal. This book tells the compelling story of Ole & Hannah's experiences in becoming students of H.H. and many other great Tibetan lamas. It reflects the exuberant and contagiously upflifting personality of Ole Nydahl. He is an indefatigable teacher and meditation master of great ability, who still travels the globe to broadly inspire Diamond Way Buddhism into anyone who attends his delightful courses and events. He has since founded some hundreds of Diamond Way centres around the world. I recommend anyone to read the book, or - even better - to meet him or his students in person at one of his many Diamond Way centres.

This book is amazing. Lama Ole's book is a very exciting story about his first meeting with the Eastern World and Tibetan Buddhism. His honest words and pure view makes this book a perfect teaching and his unique style and humour makes it so enjoyable. If you want to know more about Tibetan Buddhism and want to learn from a Real Yogi, don't hesitate, read this book.

I have a dream of someday owning my own cow, maybe a horse, and another pig or two. Being a city girl, I wouldn't have the foggiest notion what owmership of large domestic animals entails. This book lays it all out for you in very pragmatic terms. How much land you need, the total cost of caring for a cow as well as the potential revenue for the milk and cheese. And now, when my country friends are talking about their cow problems, maybe I can even offer a piece of profound advice! (doubtful on that), Buy it, enjoy it.

Keeping a cow is do-able!

This book encourages those of us who want to return to our farming roots and obtain the freshest dairy products possible from our own cow(s). He takes the fear out of stepping into caring for a cow for us first-timers. I can't wait to apply what I'm learning!

Good Information - Well written -but somewhat dated

The book covers the subject well and is carefully written. It stands alone in that there are no other books for the prospective owner of a single dairy cow rather than a herd. Some of the information is dated; recent improvements in genetics have more than doubled milk production and changed the needs for feed. There is a little philosophizing with a '70s back-to-the-lander slant which I found distracting.

Tons of information

This book has everything you need to know about owning your own cow...kinds of cows and their temperaments, purchasing a cow, how to care for it, fences and barns to build for it, milking, foods to prepare with the milk, breeding and calving, you name it. Much detail is given in each subject, including drawings and pictures, but the author avoids being a bore with his dry humor. We knew absolutely nothing about cows, but now feel some confidence after reading this book!
