God's roadmap to successReview Date: 2006-11-10
There is one thing that makes this book radically different than the tons of other self help books. This one is very grounded in the word of GOD. Each of his suggestions come from a verse in the bible. To me such references give his insights the ultimate validation.

A Wise Addition to Your New Age LibraryReview Date: 2003-08-29
I do agree with one of the previous reviewers in that I had difficulty choosing an image at random using only my finger, but I solved this problem by using my pendulum with this book. I move the pendulum over the images until it starts circling, and eureka! There is the correct answer. You could also use dice, I suppose, since the book is big enough that the page with the images lies flat.
Highly recommended!

Love Alice BaileyReview Date: 2008-07-27
It wasn't because of the book, but because I didn't understand the depth of this book. I was told to keep reading anyways.
As with any good deep spiritual book, the persistence paid off. This book turned out to be a gem. I loved it. Alice Bailey's has amazing books and I look forward to reading more.
You will enjoy this book if you want to learn more about Soul and deeper realms of spirituality (some of which I am still remembering).

A Practical But Esoteric Spiritual GuideReview Date: 2002-12-26
A Treatise on White Magic, like so many of A.A.B's books, is not intended to be informational. On the whole, they are intended to be inspirational. By that I mean that the reader's intuition and spiritual perception is awakened through studying the book's contents.
This book cannot be rated too highly and will be appreciated by those who have a deep interest in all things spiritual, but not necessarily religious, and by those who can appreciate the spiritual and esoteric aspect of everyday life.

Great read, thank you for taking the time to do this Em!Review Date: 2008-11-18
"this is my story and can't no one tell it for me"
The pictures are great as well, the whole layout really, it's incredibly well organized and put together from start to finish. The lyric sheets alone are worth the purchase price for me.
There are a few things that disappointed me, as a die-hard fan. Em is crazy. Like, lunatic crazy. He really holds back in parts and masks the truth in humor. Em, you're borderline schizo, half of your song 'crazy in love' is literally a love song to the 'half' of you that is responsible for your stream-of-consciousness rhyming ability. And you downplay Kim, your mom, and pretty much everyone else in your life, and your drug use. Your title should be 'The Way I Want Hailie to Think I Am so She'll be a Responsible Adult and Won't be too Upset at Me Now That She's Old Enough To Hear My Actual Songs'.
And I wanted more information on Infinite and SSEP and what it was like creating those albums. But anyway, great read, the very existence of this book is a dream come true.

Not what I expected - In a good way.Review Date: 2007-09-05
Fast forward one year. I encountered The Way I was Made and had the opportunity to read through it. It was refreshing to see the progression of a worshipper and songwriter and realize that successful people are made over the long-haul not overnight.
Mr. Tomlin shares many insights into his songs, past and worship style. He also gives lots of excellent tips for building a solid spiritual foundation that should benefit any worshipper or worship leader.
Great book on worship!Review Date: 2007-01-18
I think the biggest strength of this book is that Chris is so real. He doesn't try to come across as a saint, and so he makes the ideal of living out worship seem attainable.
And it didn't hurt that I kept laughing aloud at his stories.

and were touched beyond words by the story. We bought a "vynal" recording, which eventually went the way of all flesh with the assistance of a puppy. After many years of searching we "found" it (CD version) and added it to our collection. My only regret is that the "sound effects" that were on our original recording were not on the CD version. In today's hectic, get it done yesterday world, it is an awesome gift particularly for your grandchildren.

The characters are endearing without being obnoxious and their run-ins with each other are hilarious. I owned this book when I was a teenager and lost it when I loaned it to a friend. It took another 10 years to track it down through ebay just as I was about ready to buy another copy of it somewhere else for $50!!! I've read this book many times, even now as a 30-year old and I always finish it with a smile on my face.

A Wise Guide to Life's Pilgrimage that Starts with Actually Celebrating the Mess!Review Date: 2008-07-09
Gail points out that, as a Jewish woman, this book touched her -- but I can also recommend this to a broader audience, as well.
The entire concept of the book is fresh and appealing because -- let's be honest -- most of us do not lead perfectly organized lives. Our lives are not only messy -- they're filled with ambiguity and daily friction. We love our family, for example, but we question -- and sometimes deeply disagree -- with some family members. The messiness extends further into our workplaces, communities and world.
Rabbi Kula is trying to provide a spiritual framework for accepting that messiness as part of life's pilgrimage. Rather than trying to escape it, he argues, we should realize that a certain messiness is the fabric of life itself. The challenge is where we will allow our yearnings to carry us in this pilgrimage through the mess.
Extremely Well Done. Many "Secrets" of Understanding Revealed!Review Date: 2008-03-24
If you have any interest at all in a real understanding of God and life, please read this book. Rabbi Irwin Kula shares wonderful insights and wisdom into why our perception and expectations of life are they way they are. He also helps readers to see the simplicity of our personal universe when given another, perhaps more considered, viewpoint.
There is a lot of rich material for thought and enlightenment here, so take your time and enjoy what Rabbi Kula teaches. For me it was like eating a great meal, every mouthful to be savored and all the food healthy and nourishing.

Practical, Helpful, Worth BuyingReview Date: 2008-07-02
Practical, Thrifty, and as committed as you wantReview Date: 2008-03-26
Each chapter is clearly written, organized with an Overview, What You Should Know, Easy Ways You Can Help, a summary box, and Search for More Info. The summary box tells you clearly what your personal savings are likely to be if you implement these, the annual amount of CO2 that will not be put into the atmosphere, and sometimes the dollar savings over the life of the product.
Each of the bulleted paragraphs in the What You Should Know and the Easy Ways You Can Help lead with a bold-faced short sentence encapsulating the enformation. The rest of the paragraph expands on it.
The whole is presented clearly, enthusiastically but not intimidatingly, and with sound advice that saves you money, and the environment from more harm.
This book provides you, the reader, with the tools to look deeper into each topic, but it doesn't guilt you into it. It tells you exactly how thrifty you are being, and how much difference one person or household can make.
Recommended.
Choose your level of commitmentReview Date: 2008-03-24
You can Prevent Global Warming provides 51 tips for lowering carbon emissions and conserving energy. Almost every tip presented is completely free and every tip saves money. Many of the suggestions are not new-putting a milk jug full of water into the toilet tank to reduce the flow of water, lowering the thermostat just a bit-however, the authors also include exactly how much money and energy it saves by doing something simple. They also provide tips for people with varying levels of commitment. Already doing the toilet tank thing? They give you links to reviews of low-flow toilets. Is that still not enough for you? They explain composting toilets!
There were a few features I particularly enjoyed and appreciated with this book. First, I liked the list at the end of the book that placed each suggestion in an easy-to-follow format of which tips to do first and how often. I also really liked the useful links included. Rather than actually getting bogged down in science and mechanics, they provide web links to [...] and other useful sites. A major barrier in me doing some of the suggestions before (like vacuuming heater and fridge coils) is that I had no idea how to do these things and was (frankly) too lazy to look it up. The authors provide a link with pictures on how to do these things. Some of the links also take you to sites on how to contact Congress if an issue is important to you if the way you want to lower man's impact on nature is to become politically involved.
I was walking around my house implementing many of these suggestions as I was reading because of how simple they are. The authors never take a strong-armed tone, never guilt you into trying something they suggest. Every suggestion felt like they were saying "Good for you for doing so much! Want to try more? Keep reading!"
I strongly recommend this book to any home-owner (though it also has awesome suggestions for renters!). I have a number of family members who are always trying to be as green as possible without seriously changing their lifestyles, a few who cringe (or cuss) at the very mention of Al Gore but who are still committed to the Biblical mandate to be stewards of the Earth, and a few who are trying to do more and more-and they are all on the receiving list for this book.
