Definetly A Book to Read

This particular collection has three great plays the author has set in his home town of Louisville, KY. "The Birdbath" is a very touching and emotional story about a father and son's attempt to reconcile their differences during the time after thier divorce until the untimely death of the mother. "Frighten the Horses" is a hilarious piece of work full of surprises that throws you completely around in disbelief, but leaving your side split from the laughter. I would definetly consider these plays a must read.

The prettiest version of this folktale!

John Langstaff might have won the Caldecott for his version but in my opinion ( as well as my students') the pictures and story are much more appealing in Wendy Watson's Frog Went A-Courting. This Folktale has been passed down for generations in the United States. It is found all over today, but in many diferent versions. That is because people changed it as they told/sang it to others. It's the story of a frog who "Went A- Courting" to ask Miss Mouese if she would marry him. After getting her Uncle Rat's consent( Without her uncle rats consent "she couldn't marry the president")they buy her dress and held the Wedding. In comes an Old Bobcat to attempt to destroy the Wedding. Does he...? Read and find out. I also like this version of Frog Went A-COurting because it allows the children to sing along and interact with the story (Every other line allows them to say "Um-hmm).Many versions that I have seen do not allow the children to be involved. This also makes a great Music lesson, and there are tapes available with this Folktale sung on it.

Dibelius precedes Bultmann in his analysis of the material of the Gospels, and surpasses his analysis in some ways. While it is hard to beat the depth shown in Bultmann's _History of the Synoptic Tradition_, the type analysis Dibelius performs goes farther into the actual structure and levels of specificity and abstraction involved in each type of literary element. Bultmann categorizes frequently based upon the content of the element, where Dibelius categorizes on the form more often. Read both to get a good perspective.

This is an excellent book for anyone doing research in the Gospels, especially for those intimately familiar with the Markan text - Dibelius uses Mark as the primary referent for much of the work, as Mark is one of the urtexten.

Still A Great Book

This books was around in the 60s when I was growing up. It is still a great book with lots of detailed color pictures, action and excitment in an easy to comprehend story line. Since the book was written a long time ago, the fire station is all white males but all the excitment of fire engines racing to a fire is still there. A must for any young boy!

Enhance mental imagery on any printed project by experimenting with fonts! In "Fun with Fonts," David E. Carter shows you how to "speak" to others simply by choosing the appropriate type font for your project. More than 170 complete type font alphabets are featured in his book, along with an amusing application of each. The designs and color combinations are whimsical and the anecdotes are delightful!

As a journeyman typesetter for nearly 30 years, I'm a self-confessed font lover - Carter's book satisfies my font"sweet tooth!" He even goes as far as addressing this "addiction" by offering the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the firms selling these designs!...

Excellent book for the beginner or amateur woodworker. Well written, simple explanations of all the basics with hundreds of great, clear drawings and diagrams (the excellent illustrations in this book really makes it stand out over the vast majority of books of this type). Also included are instructions for eleven different interesting furniture projects.
