I don't usually read westerns, but I enjoyed this book very much. The character of Sean is well developed and it's easy to relate to his cold dark trail of revenge.

Greg Watson's work is lovely, straight-forward poetry, easy for poetry novices to read but still rewarding for more practiced readers. All his books explore a mood or experience in related short poems, imagistic and moving. Ideal gift books, as almost any reader can enjoy these poems.

Must-read for those who wish to understand the fall of USSR

Dr. Watson is an impeccable gentleman who is also an excellent professor. Thus, it came as no surprise to me when I uncovered the depth and scope of his research on the collapse of Soviet communism. Dialectical materialism and Sovietology are clearly presented and I came away with a profound understanding as to why the great experiment of the twentieth century failed.

Organizational excellence, personal style
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.

This is the most detailed and most instructive art book that I've come across in a month of Sundays. The author, celebrated fine artist Tom Hill, leaves no doubt of which brush to choose, which material to select, and then he gives you a step-by-step illustrated image of how to do it and how it is supposed to look. From the very first page, he tells you how to set up a studio, and has numerous fine hints for tools you can make yourself in lieu of expensive purchases. His section on selection of, prepping and stretching watercolor paper is like an art class session. He explains exactly what you will need for studio painting, for field work and it is all done in such a relaxed friendly atmosphere that you honestly feel this teacher is standing at your elbow. If you have ever wanted to explore the mysteries of watercolor painting and its various elements, this specifically detailed guidebook is without peer!

I find Michael Wilcox book on mixing oil colors a practical and useful tool for beginners and veteran painters. The pages are easily fliped, may stand on it's own, for use on location as well as explaining the mixing of shades and highlights of each color and its grouping.
I also regard this as an exciting find as a great art tool.

I highly recommend Color Transfer to any water color painter who is trying to achieve a new technique in his/her painting. The ideas are explained clearly showing step-by-step methodology. Not only is the book a practical guide, it is inspirational for the painter who is stuck in the same old rutt. The author is truly passionate about his work and subject matter. Any painter, experienced or novice, can truly gain from this book

A beautifully-done guide
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-03-06

Every gardener wishes for a colorful garden, but many controversies surround building one. Author Jill Billington was an artist before she became a garden designer, so she comes from a different perspective than most gardening books provide, matching an eye for color with planting design details. Her love of plants blends well with an artist's eye and provides a beautifully-done guide in Color Your Garden that is very highly recommended for gardeners and landscapers from novice beginners to seasoned professionals.

Great reading of this black man's life. One realizes that he was not an athlete, entertainer, etc. but just an "average Joe" that believed in the American dream. The life story of this man's struggle during a time when black was not beautiful was amazing. If our youth of today had his kind of stamina and determination our society would have more college graduates.

This is the best book on fabric painting I have read.
Helpful Votes: 30 out of 30 total.
Review Date: 1998-09-03
I have been drawn into the world of textile art through the pathway of silk ribbon flowers, then silk ribbon embroidery and silk dyeing and now fabric painting. For those who are interested in creating wearable art, not just cutesy decorated T-shirts and sweatshirts shown in most craft books, this is the best book on fabric PAINTING (not dyeing) I have seen among the many I have read. Porcella's work is so beautiful and inspiring, the reader's imagination really takes wing. The techniques described are simple, the instructions clear. If you're interested in this craft, this is the first book you should read.
