Challenge the Conventional Wisdom

Once again Alan Watson challenges the conventional ideology concerning what we should and should not consume with his latest
book
"Cereal Killer."
The American Heart Association continues to shovel false information down the throats of the American consumers about that dreaded word "Fat".
The facts on High vs. Low and Saturated vs. Unsaturated has been a hot button issue for all of us and strikes fear in our minds about it's affects on our heart and body.
This scientifically proven information dispels the myths surrounding our intake of Fat and how it affects our overall health.
Statements about Fat and High Cholesterol have been drummed into our heads as something bad and unhealthy without giving us the knowledge required to understand the proper use of fat in our diet and how it can and will be advantageous to our health.
Part I discusses the unintended consequences of low fat; while Part II explains the value of saturated fat and foods rich in cholesterol.
The federal nutrition guidelines will be revised in 2010 concerning these important issues.
"Cereal Killer" is out there challenging the corn syrup pushers who intend to spend $30 million between now and 2010 to make sure the guidelines don't single them out of the food supply.
This is a must read for all to understand how to become truly informed and challenge the conventional theory and enjoy the foods that we are told not to eat.
Enjoy...

Absolutely the perfect gift for Charles Kuralt's fans

What a wonderful thing to be able to put in a cassette and listen to Charles Kuralt's friendly, warm and very familiar voice.
It's like having a good friend (which, after having him in my living room on Sunday mornings for years, he most certainly
is!) stop in for tea and conversation.
This is a lovely set, organized by seasons. The Christmas, Spring, Summer and Autumn audiobooks are truly enduring testaments to Charles Kuralt's unique and wonderful abilities as a storyteller, journalist and poet. As it says on the box, "His voice will live in our hearts forever," and no truer words were ever spoken.

A friend told me that Jessie Watson's books were special, so I wanted to begin with her first effort. Ms. Watson certainly
has a way with words. The Changeable Rose is beautifully written. Her characters come to life and almost walk off the page.
You will admire her heroine, Clare Winchester, whose loss of her fortune has set her outside the society of which she was
once a part. Her hero is all too human, not to mention handsome and charming! Ms. Watson's dialogue is bright and witty, and
settings are so authentic that they will draw you right into the Regency period.
After finishing The Changeable Rose, I moved right on to The Cat's Bracelet, Watson's second book. It, too, was super. Please see my review on that page. Meanwhile, I am on to her third book and am enjoying it just as much.

David's book was so very enjoyable to read. He tells the stories of the Crane's and Swan's dilemma in a manner which educates
in a down-to-earth language.
Being only an hour's drive from, and an avid supporter of, the International Crane Foundation's location here in Wisconsin, I must admit I am partial to the subject! Those of you able to, should definitely put that destination on your "Places to visit" list. After all, it is the only place on the entire planet where you can see a living representative of the world's fifteen species of cranes.
You will finish the book and realize how much you just learned! David makes it personal and touching with the heart-warming reflections of those he interviewed for the work. It's the personal stories that do it for me!
You'll love it!

The see how they grow series is yet another quality series put out by Dorling Kindersley (aka DK). Purchase them all if you
can! Both children and adults will enjoy "watching" the chick grow. The last two pages are a pictorial summary of how the
chick went from egg to eight week-old rooster.

I found this book to be a very good Bible book for kids of any age. Although it is primarily geared for older school age
kids, younger kids can also enjoy the stories and the pictures. It is a great resource for getting kids familiar with the
Bible - it's contents and wording. I will enjoy reading these stories to my kids for years to come. I also love that it
is in a daily format, this really helps with daily devotions.

This is the classic text on Chinese brush painting written by a British woman who studied in the traditional manner with Asian
painting masters.
Her presentation is thorough (history, tools, technique, pedagogy) and she guides the student through the traditional first four "subjects" that are traditionally studied--the "Four Friends", i.e plum, bamboo, orchid, chrysanthemum--in that order. Mastery of these four subjects thoroughly schools the students in the brushwork required in this style.
Even those who do not wish to paint in this style exclusively should study this work. Western style painting can only benefit from the exquisite sensitivity of brushstrokes disciplined in this tradition.

The focus on the main character made it a bit arduous for me, but once the action started i could not guess what was going to happen next, so i just could not put it down.
So many science fiction novels drift into fanatsy it was refreshing
to science fiction being so feasible/plausible. It was also a learning experience new concepts about the mind and its connection to the eternal world.
A thinking person novel that became a fun book to read
