This book has great rhythm and rhyme, 4 words per page. The child has breakfast, gets dressed, goes on a walk into town,
goes to stores, passes construction site, plays in the mud at the park, has a bath at home. Great for teaching language
to little kids. Ends with "Kisses, hugs, I love you!".

The Greening of the Renaissance

This is the kind of book that changes not only the way we view individual authors, but the way we view an era. Much work,
both scholarly and for a popular audience, has been done in the area of the Renaissance, but little of it provides the reader
with an "Ah ha!" moment, a moment that changes forever our approach to a time period. This book does precisely that. Robert
Watson's premise, that civilization is to nature as perception is to reality, allows for a broad audience to read and appreciate
this book. His thesis, however, is deceptively simple. With strong readings of As You Like It, Andrew Marvell's poems and
17th century Dutch painting, Watson draws together what seem like widely different materials to green the Renaissance -- to
subject the Renaissance to the kind of eco-criticism that affects our own reading of the world. We are a back-to-nature sort
of culture, but, as Watson's book shows, there is no getting back to Nature (and if we could get back to Nature, we might
find that it resembles nothing we expected). Our civilization forever blocks an unmediated experience of the natural world,
just as our perception, colored as it is with the detritis of day-to-day living, can never allow a full embrace of reality.
We love to be the masters of all we suvey (and didn't God tell Adam that he could be? And by extension that we can be?) --
but as masters, the natural and the real will always elude us. What we have enslaved, whether by mind or machine, can never
be fully possessed, but is always set at a distance by that very enslavement. As far as Watson's readings of individual works
goes, this book enchants and unsettles with its nuanced approach to literature and art. I would certainly recommend this
book for every scholar of the Renaissance period; I believe that the book has started a movement of Renaissance eco-criticism
that will prove highly influential. Although some of the writing and concepts may seem, at first, daunting to the general
reader, I also recommend the book to a broad audience -- that audience, I feel sure, will be appreciative (in particular)
of the readings of individual works and paintings. In all, I give this book the highest possible rating.

Of all of the books i have on them, and there are a lot, this is near the best. It has several color page photos, sections
on the individual boys, and more. i have around 20 books on them, and i rank this one second. my first choice being the
red official biography by rob mcgibbon. but this one is awesome too.

Myrna Kostash's All of Baba's Children is a penetrating and revealing look at the lives of those of Ukrainian ethnic identity
in Canada. Although the book is focused on this population, the conclusions she arrives at are of interest to anyone looking
into the long term effects of being an ethnic subgroup in a larger culture. The book melds together personal recollections
with source documents and other materials to probe the pressures and conflicts this community has experienced in the past
hundred years. Extremely valuable reading for those of Ukrainian descent in both the USA and Canada, but also of great value
to sociologists studying ethnic minorities in these two countries.

This book is clear and concise. It gives a lot of information about Barry Goldwater, his life and his career. My daughter
had chosen biography as a book genre for this quarter's book report. This was a fun, easy book to do a report on.

There are many books on typography and design. This is one of the better, if not the best, that I have read. It is readable
as well as informative and comprehensive. Each topic is presented on a two-page spread with visual examples. A good book for
the beginner and a good reference for those with more experience who are looking for a competent addition to their library.

The pix of Punta del Este homes are really superb. The essence of beachfront living--free, earthy, close to the sun, sea,
and sand is brought out. You see not only the homes but the views from the homes. One caveat: You have got to love waterfront
living. This is not a book of architectural plans for second homes in general. It evokes the essence of the lifestyle of
the waterfront. Kudos to Amazon for catering to us architectural and waterscape specialists.

From Front Jacket:
"This book relates the history of bee-keeping on the island that forms the most westerly part of Europe, where the warm North Atlantic Drift gives a climate that is soft and gentle, supporting many wild flowers.
Most Irish historians start with legendary kings and chieftains in the mists of antiquity, and beekeeping is no exception.
Some of the earliest Irish writings about bees are in laws that survive from the 7th C. Early Irish poetry shows appreciation of honey and bees, and a number of beekeeping exploits are attributed to the early Christian saints.
There is little to recount about bee-keeping in Ireland for the next thousand years, although some vestiges remain. The thread is picked up again in the 1700s, when Dublin was a center of inquiry and advancement in which beekeeping had its part. The Dublin Society, in particular, published books and leaflets to improve the craft. Since then, beekeepers throughout Ireland have been increasingly well red, and the story of their work in creating and nurturing their Beekeepers' Associations occupies a large part of this book. The book is published to mark the centenary of the formation of the Irish BKA on 21 April 1881, at Ballsbridge, Dublin.

Based on a very careful research among Brazilian documents, this book offers an accurate description of the work of Oswaldo
Cruz with yellow fever at the end of XIX and beginning of XX centuries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It also includes a brief
history of Brazilian scientific research before that period. For those who want to study the history of medicine (and science)
in Brazil and Latin America it's a basic piece of information.
