This is a wonderful book to share with children. I read this book to my class at school and the students loved it. Carolyn
has written a lovely story to help us remember that God has given each of us a special talent. It may not be what we expect
or want but it is what God knows we need most. The illustrations of the characters are eye-catching. Overall, this is a
great read with a wonderful moral!

Great book!!!! This book was very inspiring. Knowing that God gives us all special gifts. Even if we are not sure what
they are. My grandbaby loved the skunk. This book is in the children book section but it is also good reading for adults.

The story of RADAR and its development is the stuff that made Hollywood. In the middle of the country, 1000 miles from any
ocean was a US Naval operation so secret that nary a story remains. However, an elite group of gifted men were recruited specifically
to work on the system that allowed our Navy to win the war against a much stronger opponent in the Pacific. This project may
have been more important than the atomic bomb. Many conjecture we could not have defeated the Japanese after Pearl without
the strides made in RADAR. The project was so secret that no one was allowed to use the word RADAR. Chicago was the center
point for this Naval Training. Walk with reverence on the Navy Pier from now on when in Chicago,

A long overdue history of US Navy Electronics in WWII and the people who kept that electronics in service.
While much has been written and well earned credit given to those who developed, manufactured and operated the electronics, prior to this book very little had appeared in public print about those of us who maintained it.
This was particularly true of our training and how it eveloved.
In my case I found that the description of the program accurately covered my experiences at Hugh Manley, Great Lakes and Bellvue. It also answered many questions that I still had about the "Eddy test" and how various portions of my training came to be.
Highly recommended for all ex RT/ETM/ET's and their families.

I was given this book by a friend who knew the author and his wife and I have enjoyed reading it and I wish I could go to
the Island to meet the wonderful characters. It says a lot that people from all over the world came to their island paradise
and everyone had different backgrounds and they all became such good lifetime friends.
A great read to get away and remind yourself how precious life is and how we should not take for granted the friendships we make along the way

"So you got stuck on the island, eh?" says the Beachcomber, a short man with straw-like hair and piercing eyes. Taken aback,
the young American couple from Southern California wonders what he means. They are the new owners of a split-level house overlooking
a picturesque, long harbour in the Canadian Gulf Islands. The wife believes the island to be an Eden and convinces her reluctant
husband to buy what she calls "their dream house."
They soon realize that they can't afford the increasing property taxes, maintanance costs plus mortgage payments; they decide to rent the house to cover expenses. Fire, frustration, legal entanglements, tenants bordering on derangement and the couples discord over the house lurk like a serpent in the grass.
The constant help of islanders, the wildlife, and the pristine beauty keep the couple returning. In their returning to trials, joys, misfortures and adventures an enduring journey unfolds. Instead of their being stuck on the island, the island has stuck on them.

As an art collector, I purchased this book to more thoroughly familiarize myself with the already important body of work produced
by young american artist Sue De Beer. This book provides a richly illustrative and cohesive overview of her work in all of
its forms.

I had the pleasure of attending this books launch and having my copy signed by the very young and very sweet Sue De Beer.
Sue is one of the most promising young artists working today. Her work loosly explores the psychology of youth while encompassing
the dark orb of popular culture. References to 80s slasher movies, school shootings, and death metal abound in her brightly
colored and surreal world. Her video works are usually displayed in an interactive environment, massive walk-in doll houses,
beanbag lounges with giant stuffed animals, etcetera. The essays in the book are informative as to the whereabouts of which
her practice stems, it's a very straight-forward read and nothing too complicated. But the joy of this edition is in the photos,
almost all of which are color and glossy and just gorgeous. Sue is not only a master of the macabre, but the worlds in which
her downtrodden teenagers inhabit are a wonderland of rainbow colored gothhood. Imagine if A Nightmare on Elm Street had been
directed by Busby Berkely and written by Alain Robbe Grillet with a budget of $600. It's a shifty, confusing, and darkly ravishing
world she creates and this book is a lovely artifact of her realm.

Superman Radio Scripts presents original radio scripts from the 1940s radio series Adventures Of Superman, gathering scripts
never before available and pairing them with sixteen pieces of classic cartoon art. It's the scripts themselves which are
the highlight here: perfect for Superman collectors or fans of old radio dramas.

I have been a fan of Superman for many years, but I have always
particularly enjoyed the Golden Age. This book has the radio script from Superman's best radio play to my knowledge entitled "Superman VS Atom Man". Since I also own the radio show on tape, I can read along as I enjoy the story. There are also some wonderful old pictures that accompany the story. All I can say is that I would enjoy seeing more of these radio scripts in print. The book says "volume 1", so I hope that means more volumes may be coming out. If you want a script of this wonderful radio story, you won't be disappointed. And, overall, the price is right!

A powerful call for an ecological approach to sustainable design that guides us through the philosophic foundation to sustainable
design - not "green wash". The discussion on the need for large scale actions and particularly watershed protection is quite
powerful.

To be honest, I'd only give this book four and-a-half stars because, while it does span off into all areas of jazz, it neglects
western swing, and that is unforgivable. This book is great in every other way. It may be the best book on the subject of
jazz because, through the articles on individual players, you get to read the very story of jazz itself. There's a lot of
people in here, that I did not expect to find either. Case in point, the Andrew Sisters (!). There's some cool photographs
in here. The introduction is interesting as well. You shouldn't skip over it like you do in most every other book (you know
who you are).
Enjoyable and informative; a great book.

"What's shakin' pops?" "Hang tight my brother!," are the kind of words you'll see in this book. Talking jive, or jive talking,
whatever you prefer, and the jive masters who started it all. Learn the jive from the Godfathers such as: "Louis Armstrong,"
"Fats Waller," "Louis Jordan," and the king of jive himself, "Cab Calloway." This book is an exciting read, and very educational.
It also talks about the life and deaths of the famous jivers. A perfect selection to add to your book collection.
