Joel Watson has done a terrific job introducing game theory. Beware- game theory is not for the light hearted, this book does contain some very dense mathematical proofs etc. The hardest part of the book is understanding the mathematical proofs for the main ideas of game theory. Once the mathematical foundation has been layed down it is very easy to follow the main concepts such as nash equilibrium, bargaining solutions, etc. Watson writes in a very relaxed and informal fashion, which is very refreshing. If your professor requires this book for class you should not worry, this is one of the best books on the market.

This is probably the best book on drawing dinosaurs out there, especially for adults. There isn't just one artist's dinosaurs pictured into this "how-to" book, but artwork from Brett Booth and Bryan Baugh as well. Many dinosaurs are featured in here, including Triceratops, Spinosaurs, Therizinosaurus, Chirostenotes, Saltasaurus, and dozens more. Generally depending on which dinosaur you are drawing, it can take you between 1-4 steps to complete your picture. Also, there is information for each dinosaur you draw, which makes it all the more interesting. The artwork is very detailed and sleek. Excellent for any beginner or if you're just trying to brush up on your skills.
The best book on the subject yet!

You may think me biased, since some of my reconstructions where used in the book, but I did not write any of it (and I don't recieve royalties based on sales). While there are a few nit-picky details I would change, this is easily the best book on how to draw dinosaurs ever made. It is the only one where the reader is given a short anatomy lesson, and shown skeletal reconstructions so artists can learn how to reconstruct extinct animals themselves. It also shows off the remarkable diversity of dinosaurs to good advantage. Highly recomended.

What a wonderful book. This covers all types of dinosaurs from T-Rexes to flying bird dinosaurs. Hundreds of great drawings throughout. I can't draw but I still enjoyed looking at it and my ten year old son will not put the thing down. He was allowed to take one book on our vacation and he chose this one. I don't think he put it down for the whole 6 hour drive to Disneyland. There are some technical drawings of skeletons and muscles and stuff I don't think he understands yet, but the how to steps are easy enough for him to follow. Highly recommended if you have a dinosaur lover or artist in the family.

Call me un-educated, but I never heard of this guy Tibor. I casually discovered this book at the library when I noticed the Queen of England as a black woman. "What???" I asked myself as I picked up the book. In less than a minute of browsing the pages, I knew this was a book I wanted to own.
Kalman and his team of designers have truly touched upon the surface of great creativity, inventiveness and rare novelty. It was so refreshing to see work that dared to be different as opposed to just conventionally entertaining. I was so impressed in fact, I rushed to the store and bought one of his crumpled paper weights!

I really like it. It's full of Tibor Kalman's quotations. (es como una recopilación de entrevistas en las que Kalman cuenta sus trabajos y proyectos. Y muy bien ordenada) He explains his works by himself so you can learn about the project and about this ground breaking designer. And it's full of pictures! I recommend it

Ideas are hard to come by, as most designers know. This book is one in a very long series of 'Typography' books and is one of the best so far. It's packed full of new type styles and innovative type concepts. This is one for the coffe table and the library.

This year's typography annual is abolutely essential for anyone who is a typographer, a designer who works with type, or anyone who is a fan of this creative medium. This year's annual is extremely well produced and the design of the book itself is fabulous. The design is much better than the futuristic cover that Attik did last year - a good move on behalf of the Type Director's Club. Both annuals are excellent, but this one won't look nearly as dated in 10 years. There are a few pieces showcased this year that make you wonder how they made it, but its a minor complaint when you consider the overall quality of work featured here. With type professionals such as Matthew Carter and Robert Bringhurst as judges, you know you are going to have a great book. This is a must own. ... Can't wait for next year's offering!

The section on rugs and carpets is a great starting point for dealors, and the section on furniture is clear, concise and easy to use. This book is a must for beginners!

Fascinating book of adventure & discovery. For the reader the fact that the photographs, taken in the 1920s are gorgeous and outstanding, is a revelation for us. Also a very interesting human interest story is revealed.
I thouroughly enjoyed it and encourage others to take this journey to a world no longer available to us.

Vanished Kingdomsis a rich archive of treasures which charts the findings and peoples of a bygone world. Any serious collection of Asian treasures - both art and cultural - will find Vanished Kingdoms an essential addition, unparalleled in scope and coverage.

Horowitz makes the complex subject of watercolor simple. The illustrations and simple text make it easy to follow. The open ended approach is unique in "how to" watercolor books. Horowitz encourages you to master technique, develop your own style while doing your own thing. Chapter 3, Basic Techniques, "ABC'S of Watercolor" was reprinted in American Artists' quarterly magazine, "Watercolor" ... so it must be good. The student art gallery made me feel that I can paint as well as the students and gave me more ideas. The spiral cover opens flat for easy reference while painting and the glossy pages are wipeable. I highly recommend it to beginners, intermediate and advanced artists. It is a great "idea" book for art teachers or students in art schools who want to get into watercolor without drowning. Its the best watercolor, how-to book on the market today! A bargain for all the tips and info. A great xmas gift for a retired senior or shut-in, or anyone who wants to learn to paint in watercolor. Try it, you'll like it.

I have been painting for 2.5 years and have found that I refer to Ms. Horowitz' book all the time for tips and how to's, especially the chapter that describes the various pigments and their properties and the one dealing with textures. I really like to see the work of her students at the end of each chapter indicating that they have approached the subject matter in so many different ways. I have scribbled notes on many of the page margins, and, like other reviewers, appreciate the spiral binding which allows me to keep the book open while working. As for the author's own work, I really like "Peggy's Breakfast", a painting at the back of the book. I am striving to emulate that quality of light and shadow. This is not just a book for beginners.

Over 2,000 students pour out their hearts for mom in this sixth aniversary essay contest sponsored by Gallery of Diamonds Jewelers. President Michael Watson personally read and chose these kids to recieve a gemstone to give to their moms for Mother's Day. I spent hours reading how these kids honored their mothers with words. Since the proceeds of this book go to the Orange County Public Library in California, I purchased three copies for friends.

I've been a technical communicator for 17 years, and bought this book when it first came out. With the advent first of electronic publishing, where everyone had to know something about layout and design, and next with the Internet explosion where even your dog's vet has a website, poorly designed or not, and now, the advent of XML, which will further drive the art of communication into the hands of the unskilled, this book is a gem. It is still as applicable now as it was then, and easily applies to electronic style guidelines as well as to print.
If you are at all interested in how people learn, how they consume information, what works in layout (electronic or print) and what does not, read this book. It should be mandatory reading for everyone who works in the 'knowledge industry', from tech writers to webmasters to information architects.

Desktop publishing has raised the bar on professional documentation. Consultants and other professionals need to be able to turn out volumes of reports, requirements documents, plans, and a variety of other professional documentation. It is no longer good enough that these materials are neatly typed on the page. Reports need to have an attractive, professional look to them.
The Xerox Style Guide provides a full range of advice on layout, style, and correct usage. I found the layout portions helpful in achieving page layout that looks highly professional and improves the comprehension of the reader.
The advice on writing clear is also helpful, and more concise than many other style guides.
