I am busy researching a future trip to Algonquin Park and was pleasantly surprised by this book. Normally these types of books read in a very dry manner, devoid of any genuine personable traits. However, Frommer's Algonquin Provincial Park, 2nd Edition is easy to read and less fussy than the normal guide books. Perhaps it's the writers style which makes the difference, but I found this book to be a concise and informative reference. Highly recommended.

Warren Hammer is the biggest name in soft tissue work. He is still its biggest name and pretty much considered the master in the field. The book is both intellectual and practical. He presents the purpose behind each test and assessment and the functional basis for problems. This book is "one-stop shopping" for people in manual medicine.

Funding Justice
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-04
For four decades, the Unitarian Universalist Veatch Program has provided direct support to the Unitarian Universalist Association and many nonreligious grassroots organizations committed to social justice and the democratic process. Based on more than fifty interviews with Veatch leaders, staff and recipients, Funding Justice chronicles the far-reaching effects of the Veatch Program - not only within the UU faith community but also within the field of progressive philanthropy. These compelling stories serve as inspiration to all who subscribe to UU ideals and principles. Ross explores the origins of the funding program, beginning with Caroline Veatch, and provides a brief history of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock (UUCSR).

If you're new to The Destroyer, start here

Review Date: 2008-09-02
This book introduces the recurring villian, Mr. Gordons. The shape-shifting, artificial intelligence has one overriding directive...to survive. When Mr. Gordons overhears his creator mention needing money to survive and continue her research, he decides that he too needs money.
When US Mint printing plates are stolen and funny money begins to appear, the secret agency CURE gets involved. When Remo and Chiun, the reigning Master of Sinanju, are sent by CURE to investigate the flood of forgeries, they encounter Mr. Gordons. Will Mr. Gordons consider them threats to his survival?

When I found my father's collection of The Destroyer book series, this is the first issue I read. And, to this day, it remains one of THE quintessential stories for the series. It should be required reading for those who enjoy the action/adventure genre. The Destroyer series has been in continuous print since the 1970's. Through 2008, there are close to 150 different volumes. If you've never read a Destroyer book, this volume is definitely a good place to start. And be sure to check out the "The New Destroyer" series. This is a continuation of the Destroyer story after Destoyer #145. All of the "New Destroyer" novels are available here on Amazon, and I highly recommend them.

The Future may look Boring... ...but at least it's not SCARY

Review Date: 2004-01-06
The "future" is of course, many things to many different
people, no two opinions of it agree, but it is "central" to our
personal ability to cope with everyday life, and of course make
sacrifices in the hopes of attaining a 'better-life' for ourselves and our children. Here is a clear headed ananlysis of what makes Global Resources the sensitive issue that it is between Nations, and why it is essential for America to adopt a more Global posture in the Economic Community.

Climate based on measured datda
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2001-10-18
Thornthwaite "Climatic Water Budget Analysis" is rational, systematic and quantitative, based on measured data. Unlike Köppen which attempts to use vegetation to predict large general climate areas, Thornthwaite uses temperature, precipitation, latitude, day length and soil water-holding capacity for an objective perspective of climate. Model enhancements include net primary productivity in grams per square meter per year, continentality (continental vs. oceanic influence), aspect, an Index of Moisture that accounts for precipitation (income), potential and actual evapotranspiration (spending), soil water-holding capacity (storage or withdrawal), indices of moisture in arid and humid climates. While Köppen lumps mountains into "Highlands", Thornthwaite reflects objective conditions - over a 30-year period. Climate constraints (maximums, minimums, ranges) are comparable world wide. Agriculture, urban residents, water, soil and ecosystem managers find Thornthwaite logical, rational and useful (vs. Köppen, a "memorized" system of map areas).

Historical perspectives of Thornthwaite's time and teaching in Oklahoma, working with Birdseye, doing regional geography in Kentucky, heading the Soil Conservation Service, and applying the tools of weather and climate worldwide make his life and biography long-term valuable. Understand Thornthwaite and you realize just how much "fluff" and spin current Natl Weather Service and media weather-climate reports are. This biography is defensible, robust, rational and reveals hard work and a fresh perspective.
