A Must for Anyone that Studies/Reads the Bible
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-13
If you ever wanted to read and study the Bible for yourself than this is a must for your library.

For years I floundered around attempting to study the Bible for myself instead of taking another's word for what it truly said. Needless to say I was disappointed and discouraged and good intentions were lost in the busyness of life.

A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I could only find it on Amazon, but it was well worth it!

I am still using all the techniques described in the book today and I have allowed the Word of God to speak for itself.

The author writes in such a reader friendly way. She takes you step by step through each unique technique for Bible study. You will feel confidence as you approach the Word and it will show in your daily life as you draw near to God.

I could go on and on... but I don't want to spoil this for you. Just purchase your own copy and hold on for an awesome experience.

The Boxcar Children: Bicycle Mystery (T.B.C.B.M.)
Author: Gertrude Chandler Warner
Illustrator: David Cunningham

Has a dog ever adopted you? Because that's exactly what happens to the Aldens in T.B.C.B.M. Their bicycle adventure turns into a mysterious dog mystery when a small obedient Skye Terrier finds the Aldens. They name the dog Shadow because the dog follows them everywhere, just like a shadow would. They experience many adventures while they try to find Shadow's owner, including escaping dognappers.

In the book, I like the part when the Aldens & Shadow are in a hotel. At night, Shadow smells smoke and decides to wake up the four children. Then the Aldens woke up the manager and the man put out the fire. That part warmed my heart.

I recommend this book to 8-year-old readers who like dogs and adventures because basically, those are the two main ideas. Read all about it!

Almost all the big band songs I've enjoyed over the years like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and many others including lots of what are now jazz standards, many from 1930's movies, plus lots of Glenn Miller and Cole Porter hits. The sheet music seems like the original as published and is fairly easy to read. Most songs fit onto 3 pages.

I haven't seen any collection with anything close to as many of my favorite big band hits.

If only it were spiral bound or something so it would stay flat - I make copies of the sheets so I can keep them flat on the piano music stand

This book has games, activities, recipes and creative ideas for every age group, every holiday, and every situation you can imagine. Each activity has listed appropriate ages, materials needed, players needed, and extra creative ideas to give the game a new twist. Recipes list servings, time needed, complexity, ingredients, materials, and variations. There are even whole party themes, with ideas for outings, entertainers, prizes and favors. I loved this book.

The birth of a reformation gives an insightful view of the founding of a major Reformation Movment. It shows us the trials and tribulations of early church of God ministers as they traveled about teaching the truth of the word of God. I would recommend this book as excellent reading to anyone.

The Real Titans

Review Date: 2003-11-10
I have no idea whether the movie, "Remember the Titans" was an accurate portrayal of the events depicted in it. Knowing what Hollywood likes to do to such stories, I have my doubts. However, if you want a real, unvarnished account of an African-American coach leading a southern high school football team through its first year of integration, this is the book for you.

Black Coach is a contemporaneous account of one such coach, Jerome Evans, and his efforts to build a unified team -- and by extension, a unified community -- at the newly integrated Walter Williams High School in Burlington, NC. The book, written in the early 70s, uses the language, images and points of view unique to that time period. This might make it dated in some ways, but also makes it a more reliable primary source.

The author is better known for writing, "A False Spring," which recounted his struggles as a minor league baseball player. This book has little in common with "False Spring" except for Jordan's densely-packed writing style -- you get more out his 200 pages than most writers' 300 -- and clear perceptions. By that I mean that he is able to take a complex subject and eliminate the peripheral, confusing elements and express the remainder in a manner that makes it appear completely natural.

This is the work of a skilled reporter who, even at the beginning of his career, has the rare ability to induce his subjects to reveal their most closely-held feelings.

An Asst DA from NY is back at her home in CA for a reunion with her best friend. When her friend disappears and migrant worker is found crucified on her property, all the evidence points to her friend being the murderer.

This story is gripping and keeps you guessing until the very end. I have read all of Gary Gottesfeld's books and have enjoyed them all.

Does anyone know what happened to Gary, why he quit writing? I have tried to find out with no success.

Looking at the world a whole new way

Review Date: 2008-02-11
Davidson, founder of the National Taxpayer's Union, and Rees-Mogg, former editor of the Times of London, co-authored a triad of books that illustrated the same theme: that changes in technology create mega-political trends that determine how and in what ways governments and companies can project power. Following Nathan Rothchild's famous maxim, "The time to buy is when blood is running in the streets," their first joint effort explains how these mega-political trends affect everything from when it's best to buy real estate or metals to why and in what places terrorism will trouble the world.
