Quite possibly the worst political science text I've come across. Seems very daunting and disorganized and has no case studies for specific countries.

I was disappointed after waiting a long time to get this book. A good portion of the data is incorrect and a number of the pictures are mis-identifed or just plane wrong. Many of the photos look to have been digitized and have a zig zig quality on the details. I would like to see better in a $40 book. The author used a lot of photos of civilian machines for some reason and they fail to represent the military application and for the most part offers nothing much new on this subject.

All is not lost however...on the plus side there are some good quality photos and a good number I have never seen anywhere before like a very rare version of the XA model with a Vard Hydraulic front end...perhaps only one of one. Also some interesting photos from WWI and some other that could be of some value to the restorer

Over all I don't think it's worth the cover price, but if it hits the bargan rack for less than $10 you might want to pick one up.

It is obvious that Mr. Ware has no knowledge of military machines and is gleaning his information from previously published information. His production figures of 90,000 WWII machines is a complete fabrication. His assertions that all WLA Harley-Davidson's had frame numbers is ludicrous. It would seem that his source of information was obtained from listening to old wives tales and faulty factory information. I would be willing to bet money he never did any research on this subject at The National Archives.
The bottom line is that there is a great book on the Military Harley-Davidson's, but this is not it.

Disappointment

This is a case of further entrenchment of misinformation combined with a shoddy job of making a book. While this book presents an abundance of images of shell-edged wares, they should not be called "feather edge" as that is an 18th-century rim pattern (and so explained within the book). But the images vary widely in quality with no attempt either in the photography stage or in color separation to balance the color, making the images unreliable as a visual reference.
There is no evidence of peer review or of any attempt at editing the text.

NO SUCH THING AS FEATHER EDGE WARE

The author of this book obviously doesn't understand pottery and the terminology that goes along with it.Another example of people writing books without any real basis of knowledge and publishers who don't care what people write.

I love all things Fiesta, but this book is terrible. My main complaint is the "quality" of the photographs. They are so grainy-- sort of clear but fuzzy at the same time. And the color is way off. I mistook several pictures of gray Fiestaware for lilac at first glance! So forget about his "comparison" of the greens because it will not help you. What gets me is that any crap digital camera would have done a better job but from the reflections in the dishes it looks like he had a professional shoot the pictures. By the way, I also completely ignored the text (even though it is in LARGE print), since the Huxfords' book and the HLCCA's book cover everything. The bottom line: don't waste your time or money.

Pass this one by.

First off Fiesta is beautiful, but the photographs in this book are terrible!!! Not one photograph shows an accurate depiction of the subject. Many photographs seem blurred or fuzzy.
Pass this by and get "Fiesta, Harlequin, and Kitchen Kraft Dinnerwares" by The Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association. You will not ne disappointed....unless you purchase Warman's book.

There was a lot of harem politics going on, without the exotic setting. Innocence is debauched, enemies are made, and the sex wasn't hot enough (for me) to make up for it.

I never was one for the "deflowering virgin" fascination, so this book left me wondering why it seemed interesting enough to order.

Since the blurb and the reality often do not match when I get an erotic novel to read, I'm glad that there is a lcoal bookseller who buys and sells erotic novels.

Well.. the book is 17 years old...has many pretty pictures. Price guide is so far out of date is it unusable. Cant take in to account the Ebay factor w/prices...(SUPPLY -VS- DEMAND.) In short it is like comic book..Not really useful info; just FLUFF . Some nice pics...should be priced at 5.99 NOT - $20. Not useful to collector OR DEALER as its more of a show and tell book, w/ verY little tell. Would not recommend, unless you want to look at the pretty pics of items most of us have seen before...thats all that is in the book . NOT GOOD FOR A REFERENCE GUIDE -

Very disappointing

I was so disappointed with this little book.

Very little content-- no new ideas. The few recipes listed are nothing special and one of the suggestions is to use Ky Fried chicken and Hardees biscuits to supplement your finger foods. I guess you could serve these tasty treats on silver platters and impress a few folks, but this wasn't the kind of food for the "Great Derby Party" I had in mind.

No truly creative decorating ideas either. Book suggests going to a party rental store to get the stuff you don't have and that you should use a lot of red roses and anything "horsey" that you can find. . . And you can hang a Derby Poster on your front door to welcome your guests.

One party giver profiled in the book hands out copies of the words to "My Old Kentucky Home", so guests can sing along when the tune is played prior to the race. Somehow, I think most of us probably thought about that one too. The book doesn't give you the lyrics (which I would have thought could have been easily included, but granted, the lyrics are easy to find if you google them) . . .

In my view, most of us could throw a better Derby party by doing a little research on-line and winging it.
