I turn to this book nearly every day for a quick refresher on the dates, publications, thematic interests, etc. of major Spanish
and Spanish American writers. The Companion has long nourished my pasion for the great body of literature available in Spanish.
The articles are succinct and informative and the breadth of coverage is remarkable. I very much hope a new edition comes
out at some point, as I have been using this edition since high school.

stumbles upon a secrect government project and now has to run for his life. I loved this book. I would recommend it to
anyone who likes books such as those of Tom Clancy.

Paradox Lost is a book of writings that elicit raw emotion from it's reader. Like a drop of fluid onto the water surface
sends ripples into infinity; so are the words Alfred (AWARD) Ward writes. Dynamic..Challenging..Introspective are three words
that come to mind as I struggle to find the words to describe this book. As the author defines himself "I am Unique".
AWARD is not afraid to speak his heart and mind; he stands firm in his perspective of life. He challenges the reader; one in particular that touched me was "Where were you when God died?" Digs deep into your heart when he writes of finally "I once again lick my lips, taste nothing, and know that I am free ..." ending a love that he defines as "Poison" Amuses the reader with his love of Coltrane, Newports and tastes of humor that are spoken of throughout.
The depth of some of the concepts AWARD writes of would lead you to believe this is an older writer. I was amazed to discover that the words come from a 25 year old mind - an old soul taking respite in a young mans body - shaking his fisted hand at the world. Whether that old soul is a gift or his curse is to be seen. One thing is guaranteed .. AWARD is an up and coming voice for today's generation. Someday I intend to say "I knew of him when .."
I lost my friends
Because I'll lock myself in a room for a week to write ten lines in one poem
Because I'll walk 5 miles to look at a lake for one hour
Because I'll spend 2 grand to met one person for 5 minutes and hear her speak
Because I still believe in love
And me
I am unique

I am inspired by the book Passions and Tears vol 1.It's amazing how someone with all obsacles surrounding them like being
in the center of a pit of snakes, watching each one attempting to take a bite at you yet you remain un bitten.
I love how the author explains the real emotion of the story. He describes the story where you feel as if you were right there, experiencing the same heart ache, violent, confused, misunderstood misheaps of life that we all face in similar ways. I recommand this book to anyone, like James Russell Ward we,ve all been in the center of the pit with snakes attempting to take a bite of us. The objective is to get out, without losing our selves in the process. Thanks to this book I have a clear understanding on how to tame the snakes!
Sincerely,

This is an exhaustive reference source, a classic resource for pastors, seminary students, researchers, or lay people who
want an in-depth study of the Bible.
Dr. Knox has an encyclopedic knowledge of Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, but also a flair for the English language, which makes reading this commentary enjoyable and understandable.
This commentary explains the text of Genesis, the theology of the Creation and Fall, a detailed examination of the Flood narrative, and exhaustive and interesting historical and literary examinations of Abraham, Jacob, Rachel, Jacob, Joseph, and more....
As a side note, this commentary received a 5-star review from the New York Times when it was first published in 1963.

Peace Is Not the Absence of Trouble

Inspired by the Gospel of John (16:33) Scanlan opens with an examination of the relationship between peace and trouble. The
passage looks at the two conditions not as cause and effect or sequentially ordered, he writes. Instead, Jesus said we have
both peace and trouble together. "Peace is not the absence of trouble; peace is the relationship we have with Jesus Christ,
which deepens while we are going through trouble." That single statement from the first chapter is rich enough to support
lengthy reflection, with application to situations from the personal to the global. But Scanlan is just getting started.
The chapter on the connection between trouble and deeper intimacy with Jesus reminds us that following Christ will lead to inner or spiritual trouble and outer trouble in the form of conflict with the forces around us. The illustration he uses to bring that point home deals with his experience in the army. Additional personal examples bring to life such reflections as "We don't fear Satan and sin enough; we fear men and what they can do too much," and "The basic lie from the evil one is the same lie that the serpent whispered into the ear of Eve: God's warning doesn't really apply to you."

This book should set the standard for pathology color atlases and texts. The figures are excellent and the text provides a
large amount of information and numerous references. Anyone working with mice in medical research should have this book.

Recently, I checked this book out of our local public library. I have been sewing for nearly all of my life (and long since
became a grandma), so I am not that easily impressed with most books on the subject; however, this book has "blown me away."
It contains some 223 pages, packed, literally packed, with drawing after drawing showing precisely how to make or alter patterns
to achieve the type of garment desired. It is easy to understand why this book is a required text in some fashion design
programs. If you want to go beyond the basics of sewing (i.e. piecing together patterns) and delve into fashion design, basic
and somewhat advanced, then consider adding this book to your home library as I plan to do. If the price tag seems a little
daunting to you, see if you can preview a copy through your local library; I believe you will count it as time well spent.
