Wang Books

Not only is the editing one of the poorest i've seen so far, but it is also just a compilation of papers that appeared elsewhere. Not the least additional insight compared to the original papers, a complete waste of time !

I have one word for this book: rubbish. Please note the number of pages in the book: 96. Since the book is designed in a study format, each of the 96 pages is half text and half rubbishy study questions or ideas. Thus, the book is only a maximum of 48 real pages of text. The book is billed as "A thorough biblical grounding in the story and witness of Peter and his ministry." Actually, it is a paraphrase of a few excerpts of the biblical text concerning Peter, with a whole load of left-wing liberal nonsense thrown in as speculated motives concerning these excerpts from his life. I have never wasted money on a book this poorly written. Please do yourself a favour and find a better book if you really want a good study on the life of Peter.

With no figures nor mathematical expression this document is worthless. The 10 $ I spent could have been better used.

It is not apparent from Amazon's description that this book is mostly written in Chinese. One chapter in the end of the book is English, so, if you don't read Chinese this book will not be much help.

The writer's English is better than my Chinese. Unfortunately, the editor's English is not very good, and this author has been poorly served (I think)in both line editing (grammar and style) and whatever kind of editing would have made the prose flow and actually convey information. It reads like a term paper by a not terribly bright high school student, who has not tried to synthesize the information found in various articles on the Internet. Admittedly Tea and Chinese Culture is a big subject, and even discussing Chinese culture is perhaps as bogus as discussing 'European culture.' There have been a lot of cultures over a long period of time. They are not served by flat sentences like "Sichuan teahouses played an important role in spreading information. The local people went to teahouses not only to drink tea, but also to exchange information. The most important function of the teahouses was that people could chat with each other there (p 73)." And on. And on.

The layout, binding, and typeface are nice, but too many of the illustrations have feathered edges for my taste. When the author refers to an important painting or teapot (p 59), it would have been nice to see either of them. The illustrations that appear are not always related to the text.

Reading this book irritated me. It's not good enough to have even a veneer of scholarship and not entertaining enough for a coffeetable. The sadly OOP book, The Chinese Art of Tea by John Blofeld, is better even at three times the price.

It seems like they just keep slapping 'Dummies' on book covers and expect it to sell. This book is a waste of time, focusing too much on inconsequential 'tips' and not explaining in any depth about how webcams or webcam applications work. Bought this and 'Guide to Webcams' by John Breeden and Jason Byrne, and 'Guide to Webcams' was much more helpful in getting my website setup and in learning how best to use my new webcam.
