It is too bad that this is one of the only surviving books on UFA. Luckily it is one of the best. This book tells of the trials and tribulations of the film industry in Germany and the world between 1918 and 1945. It is packed with how they did it technically and economically. There are two concentrated picture sections. The pictures are of the sets, people involved in the industry, actors and movies. The author seems to think that the UFA was corrupted during the time of National Socialism.

According to this book, after H.G. Wells watched "Metropolis", he thought there wasn't much worth corrupting. Sot of gives you a different prospective of H.G. Wells; doesn't it?

Any Way there is tow parts, 30 chapters, Trailer, Epilog, and Fadeout.

My 12 year old daughter is a fashion maven so she read this instead of a more typical bio for school. A great pick for kids who just don't want to read another book about Ben Franklin or Helen Keller.

The true story of the Magi

Review Date: 2008-07-11
Written for young people ages five and up, The Visit of the Wise Men is a picturebook for Christian children that gives the true story of the Magi, countering the popular myth that claims "three Wise Men" were present at Jesus' birthplace. The Visit of the Wise Men explains that the Magi were educated men who recognized the divine signs of the Messiah's birth. Furthermore, The Visit of the Wise Men teaches young Christians that Jesus was sent by God to die for humanity's sins, thus enabling mankind to be forgiven. An excellent addition to church and Christian youth libraries, gloriously illustrated by Lin Wang in a striking watercolor and colored pencil style she has dubbed "ethereal Realism".

This is a great book for Test/DFT engineers and EDA engineers developing test tool. It gives a thorough review of lot of concepts and techniques employed in practice which cannot be found if you look at a general testing book. This also makes it an excellent resource to prepare for interviews.

Wang Guangyi - father of Chinese contemporary art
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-17
Wang Guangyi has one of the best claims to be the leading political pop idol of contemporary art in China today. The book is richly illustrated with his paintings & sculptures from his earliest periods through to the famous series "Great Criticism" and his leadership of the Shanghai modern movement (which started in the 1980s). As a critic said of him "while Wang Guangyi's works may be read as a critique of China's new economics today, they may have passed -- with slight modification -- for government propaganda not too long ago". The book's essays explore this & other influences on his art. A "must read" for anyone interested in Chinese contemporary art!

Strength and Honor in a tragical but poetic recollection
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.

Ms. Zhang recalled the history and lives of several very important people in a strange time period in Chinese history. It shows her humanitarian and honorable spirits in recollecting the stories. Her subtle touch as a woman and a poet lead the readers into the real lives of these people whose names normally appeared in big fonts in the newspapers. In her book, they are real human beings with emotions, with pain, affections, mistakes and regrets.

It is not biographical nor historical, but it helps younger readers to remember the values before the communists and the persecutions of the intellectuals by a low-classed manner during 1957-1979. I applaude the publication of this book and wish Ms. Zhang a long and healthy life in her old ages to help the government correct more wrongs they commited in the past 50 years.

I recently picked up a copy of this and the earlier book "The Big One" -- the jokes, pacing, and narrative elements of this book are all top-notch, if you're looking for a realistic character that does funny things, this is the book for you. It is easy to identify with Mr. Wang, especially if you've ever been a financial adviser, lived at home after graduating college, or made a special promise to someone.

loved it!

An outstanding book for any field of engineering responsible to deliver projects in on schedule and under budget. Book is filled with examples from all areas that ease comprehension and make the book enjoyable to read. Specifically enjoyed the treatment of risk as more than the classic "potential to do harm", but also includes "opportunities for gain." The chapters on cost and schedule risk management are refreshing, informative and through the use of examples allows the concepts to be easily applied. At times the book can be whimsical, adding to the readers enjoyment. I most strongly recommend this book to engineers who want to sharpen their engineering and project management skills.

I loved this book as a child, and so does my 20-month-old son. The illustrations are precious. I bought an additional copy to send to my sister who is having her first child this summer.

Though you may not agree with all her opinions, you'll be fascinated by her way of discussion and analysis. Many of present day scholars often mess the poet and the persona. This book sets a good example by discussing the poet Wang Ji and his works separately. Very new perspectives. Detailed analysis with original Chinese texts.
