I am so excited to see a manga that really shows how exciting and stressful music school is. Being a music student in college,
it is easy to relate to the characters. Again, beautifully drawing! Sometimes I believe the story may have dragged, but the
drawing is so wonderful that you do not want to notice. It is nice to see that they get to go to the beach and out of the
practice rooms for a change. I look forward to how this series is going to play out!

True Story of a Murderer?

Review Date: 2008-10-29
In July of 1841, an attractive young cigar girl named Mary Rogers left the company of her fiance on Nassau Street in New York
City to see a relative, one Mrs. Downing. Mary never arrived at Ms. Downing's residence, and her corpse was found by a group
of sailors near Sybil's Cave-- a popular tourist destination of the time in Hoboken, NJ-- on 28 July. The coroner's report
found Miss Rogers had been throttled to death by a gang of 2-3 men prior to being tossed into the waters of the Hudson. Her
wrists had been bound, and pieces of her garment had been fashioned into a gag, still bound around her head when she was found.
In an unlikely turn of events, boys playing in a thicket near a popular Hoboken tavern (Nick Moore's House) found other items, including ladies gloves and a hankerchief embroidered with the initials "MR", weeks later, after the media frenzy had abated. The location of the discovered items cast immediate doubt upon their authenticity, since the area was well-travelled, and clues contemporanious to the time of the crime should have been discovered weeks earlier. The discovered items, including the petticoat found with them, were later believed to be planted by parties unknown, since the body pulled from the river was gloved.
The discovery of the cigar girl's body was the beginning of a long series of criminal investigations into the killer of the popular shop girl. Rumors at the time surmised Miss Rogers had died while undergoing an illegal abortion in New Jersey (a deathbed confession by one who claimed to have been privvy to the facts at the time); that she had last been seen in NJ in the company of a man with swarthy complexion (by the proprietess of none other than Nick Moore's tavern), and that she had been overcoming by roaming gangs of thugs. The story of the murdered shop girl became international news briefly that summer.
A young writer of mysteries, Edgar Allen Poe, wrote a story entitled "The Murder of Marie Roget" shortly thereafter, containing information similar to the facts of the Mary Rogers murder. So similar, in fact, that many have speculated the writer was involved in her murder-- possibly the "swarthy-complexioned man" witnesses claim to have seen in her company prior to her death. Supporters of the theory Poe was (at least accessory) to Roger's murder note that Poe's dying words eight years later in Baltimore ("Lord help my poor soul") were a confession to his role in the crime.
This book examines the alleged correlation between Poe's Marie Roget and Mary Rogers, the Brooklyn shopkeep. The book notes the differences between the true facts of the case, alterations to his story Poe made prior to and after publication, and other facts.

One of the best books about the Utahraptor ever written. However this book is evolutionistic in its basis, and offers some
untrue evolutionistic theorys. I still would recomend this book for someone who want's to learn about one of God's most
amazing creations.

Introducing Values to Little Children

If you are looking for a book to break down God's plan of salvation for your children, buy a Bible. If you are seeking a way
to present Christian values to young children and open avenues of conversation regarding God-pleasing behaviors and lives
filled with Christian kindness, this book will do just that.
Each chapter opens with a situation typical in a child's life, regarding issues such as sharing, selfishness, wisdom, and friendship. A wise adult guides each child, without lecturing, to an understanding of how to behave in a manner pleasing to God.
Each chapter ends with a list of simple questions that your child as young as three should be able to answer.
My seven-year-old opened our school days by reading a chapter a day to her three younger sisters (1, 3, 5), and then discussing the questions at the end of each chapter. All age groups benefitted from the readings, including Mommy who can always use a refresher!
With only twenty short chapters, and some of them presenting poems instead of stories, this book will not take long to read. We would have actually appreciated more chapters, but for a preschool aged group, the few words per page and large, bold pictures are quite suitable.
If your children have a strong awareness of the Gospel and WHY they should be exhibiting Christan values in their lives, then this is a wonderful next step to show HOW to exhibit those traits.

A useful compilation of the major papal encyclicals making up Catholic social teaching. Some moderately useful commentary,
but the encyclicals themselves are the reason to buy this book.

I encountered this book on a low shelf at the main library of the hebrew university in jerusalem, while looking for a certain
photography book, and quickly and curiously took it out, its title being simmilar to a theses i was going to write. as i
opened the pages and looked through them, i felt both amazed at all the subjects it aims to cover, and a little sorry, that
someone else has already done something which i had thought of doing. so i took it home, (still have it!) and read it. it
has fulfilled my expectation and is a serious book about the representation of the past in museums and heritage centers,
something which is taken for granted as both `educational` and `entertaining`. in the book the processes leading to the
creation and maintenance of heritage centers and museums are analysed seriously, with a light marxist-postmodern bend, but
a well researched and convincing presentation. case studies are presented and various strategies for making the representation
of the past, both conceptually and socialy, a better one. although it deals specifically with england, i found his statements
and anlyses convincing for my country, israel, a land smitten with heritage and memory in a unique way. my comments deal
with two areas, (each taking half a star off its rating!). there is no visual material at all, no photographs, plans or
diagrams. in a book dealing with representations in the real world, something so rife in visuality, this is a serious drawback,
as so many meanings would be far better and more widely understood with the proper visual material. as the very subject matter
of the book is visual it is a pity that the analyses it includes do not contain visual readings of museum presentations.
the other point is the whiff of serious and judicious thinking about a subject which should be also fun and games. it assumes
a seriousness on the part of visitors and downplays the need of heritage centers to get people interested at all, and most
challenging of all, to get a place in their own memories. so anyway, chapeau! and i have recommendad it all it all around!.

My First Hardy Novel

I don't know much about Thomas Hardy's writing so I won't even try to disect too much about THE RETURN OF THE NATIVE.
I've been buying and reading the Barnes & Noble Classics Series for the past year and enjoying all the extras they provide.
I read RETURN with interest, taken by some passages that are as good as any English lit I've read. I didn't really find the characters all that sympathetic. Although they harbored passions, they never seemed to have passions for each other. Eustacia wanted out of Egdon Heath beyond anything else, Clym wanted to bring education to the Heath to point of nearly blinding himself, Wildeve couldn't make up his mind as to what he wanted--as long as he could hang on to his money.
Maybe that makes this novel feel more real but also didn't have the kind of obsessive love I thought it might have.
I'm also a little skeptical of all the criticisms pointing out that Hardy's writing is "anti-Christianity" or "anti-Christian." The characters and the characterization of the heath didn't strike me as taking a stand one or the other regarding faith: that's simply who they were.
Think about the fates of the main characters, especially Clym. I don't see anything "anti-Christianity" about that!
I also had to chuckle a little when I read the questions that this edition provided afterward.
Is global warming really a good related topic for studying this novel?

It began as an innocent flirtation and likely would have remained so had dazzlingly beautiful opera singer Marissa Merrilli
and her lovestruck young lord been left to their own devices. But a meddling family and notorious gossip combined to drive
Marissa into an aristocratic entanglement she had never desired. Still, everything might have worked out eventually if not
for the unexpected interference of wealthy, debonair Gervase Maxwell. Gervase's erroneous assumption that Marisa was a fortune-hunting
woman of easy virtue was a clarion call to battle that the volatile, headstrong singer could not ignore-and an unforgivable
mistake she swore to make Mr. Maxwell pay for dearly. A good read

Enchanting Spanish Heroine, Classic Regency Romance

This book is delightful! Consuela is not a traditional Regency Heroine. She is Spanish, and her Latin passion is as electrifying
as her innocnence. In the early chapters she is in love with a languid London fop who isn't really able to keep up with her,
but when she meets rugged English sea captain Nick Bannion the sparks really fly. He captures her. She runs from him. You
will positively pant with anticipation for these two to get together!
Special treat -- the villainess in this story, Lady Verena Covington, is green eyed, blonde, and seductive. Her escapades are described in such sensual detail that you can't help but enjoy them, even if she is rather cruel to our perky heroine.
