High School principal, art student and grandson join together to write a book

Review Date: 2006-02-19
This is a wonderful book to read to young children and then to have them read to themselves after they learn to read. The remarkable part about the simple story line is that it asks a series of "Who Taught" questions and then finishes it with some remarkable thought provoking illustrations like "Who taught the kitten to purr and the lion to roar? Who taught the cat to meow and the wolf to howl? There are two colorful, happy illustrations for each question. The illustrations were done by a high school art student. The story was written by six-year-old Jacob for his four-year-old brother Isaac. Isaac is pictured on the front and back cover. The purpose of the book is to help small children see God in all of creation. The answer to the "Who Taught" question is cleverly answered by Isaac on the last page. "The answer is quite simple, God did!" This is the second book written by Jacob Terry Wilkinson. His first book, Did You Ever Wonder was written when he was five years old. It is an amazing project of story writing by a small child for small children and a high school principal who just happens to be the grandpa of the child author and a high school art student putting together a remarkable children's book. I look forward to their next effort.

This is an amazing book. This is my grandfathers book and he has been slowly writing it for many years and this is the finished copy. I throughly have enjoyed it so far and I am not even done with it yet. I recommend the book because it is filled with tons of interesting facts and history from about over the last 40 years or more.

Life of Wallace told in straightforward, powerful way.

Glenn Telfer's excellent book tells the story of the life of William Wallace (as featured in Braveheart). The book is written in an accessible form of the Scots language e.g. 'As lang as we live, as lang as Scotland is still searchin for freedom, Wallace is wi us in oor heids an aye true in oor herts.' which really brings the story to life. This book is also ideal for use as a school textbook (it is used this way in Scotland) because of the interesting way the story is told. We have no hesitation in recommending this book. [May, 1999]

A pick for any interested in Scottish history and culture

WILLIAM WALLACE: THE TRUE STORY OF BRAVEHEART is a pick for any interested in Scottish history and culture, who should consider it of ongoing interest, offering a new biography based on new research of medieval records. Wallace came to fame through his active opposition to English imperialism: a fight he was willing to die for. He achieved command but was unable to retain it in battle: with little experience in government or war he nonetheless made a name for himself in both areas. Lesser known is the fact that he was a member of the nobility himself: researcher Brown offers new insights on William Wallace's experiences and dispels many myths.

I purchased Wind, Rain, Clouds and Snow. Wonderful short science books and very easy for young readers. My 5 year old twins love to read their 'science' books. It is difficult to find simple non fiction books for this age group, but these are perfect fit.
